Selling was already challenging enough.

Most Managed Service Providers slog their way through sales because they know their services will bring value to their clients. But now that cybersecurity has become a mandatory concern for all businesses, the world of sales is even more uncertain.

What value does managed security bring when there’s no way to promise ROI? How do you convince small business owners to part with their hard-earned revenue when they don’t feel vulnerable to a cyberattack? What is the best way to mitigate your clients’ risk without feeling dishonest or using slimy sales tactics? And could someone please demystify sales and make it easy?

This book is the answer to all those questions and more. Forged in the steel of real-world MSP successes and failures, you’ll learn how to sell cybersecurity, simply and easily – even for the techiest tech in the industry.

I'm a sales author and love good sales books and have little patience for bad sales books.

A good sales book is going to give you actionable advice that you can use to improve and not just more of the rah rah motivation that you've heard time and time again.

Jennifer does an amazing job of giving talking points, actionable starting points, and depth to these points in how she talks about them.

Most salespeople would get some improvement after reading through this, but this should be on the shelf of anyone selling MSP services.

A bit too generic and didn’t find much particularly pertinent to cybersecurity. Wish it was more technical/detailed.

Goodreads Review: Simplified Cybersecurity Sales for MSPs

Jennifer Bleam's "Simplified Cybersecurity Sales for MSPs" is a game-changer for anyone in the MSP space looking to navigate the tricky terrain of cybersecurity sales. Bleam, with her wealth of experience, cuts through the jargon and delivers a practical, actionable guide that's refreshingly devoid of the usual sales fluff.

The Good:

Clear, Concise, and Jargon-Free: Bleam's writing style is a breath of fresh air. She distills complex cybersecurity concepts into digestible nuggets, making the book accessible to both sales veterans and those new to the field.

Focus on Value-Based Selling: This isn't your typical "push the product" sales guide. Bleam emphasizes building trust, understanding client needs, and selling solutions, not just services. This approach resonates with the growing demand for ethical, consultative selling.

Real-World Relevance: The book is packed with relatable examples and case studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of Bleam's strategies in real-world scenarios. These examples provide valuable insights and inspiration for MSPs looking to replicate those successes.

No Fear-Mongering: Bleam's approach steers clear of the fear-based tactics often associated with cybersecurity sales. She promotes an honest, transparent approach that focuses on educating clients and empowering them to make informed decisions.

The Not-So-Good:

Could Use More Technical Depth: While the book excels at sales strategy, some readers might crave a bit more technical detail on specific cybersecurity solutions. This could help MSPs feel more confident in their conversations with clients.

Limited Industry Variety in Case Studies: Expanding the range of case studies to include more diverse industries could provide a broader perspective for MSPs catering to different sectors.

Overall:

"Simplified Cybersecurity Sales for MSPs" is an essential read for any MSP looking to up their cybersecurity sales game. Bleam's practical, value-driven approach is a refreshing alternative to the often-slimy world of sales. This book is not just a guide; it's a roadmap to building a sustainable, successful cybersecurity sales practice.

Who Should Read It:

MSP Owners and Sales Teams: This book is your secret weapon to closing more deals and building stronger client relationships.

Tech Professionals: Even if you're not in sales, this book provides valuable insights into effective communication and understanding client needs.

Anyone Interested in Ethical Sales: Bleam's approach to sales is a model for anyone who wants to sell with integrity and build long-term success.

I was wrong about this book, it is 30% about cybersecurity, the rest is intended for sales people. The author herself warns that this book is not for you if you are not in sales department (paraphrasing here).

So if you are a cybersecurity professional and think this book will enlighten your path to your MSSP journey you are just wrong.

That being said, in that 30% you will find a practical way to approach prospects by using risk analysis.

I'm new to B2B sales and to a lot of the business side of things.

I got this book to help me shore up my knowledge gaps. I'm not looking to be an expert after a reading, but to get my bearings so that I can make a difference for myself, my new company and ultimately my newly won clients.

I love that this is a short book. Not wordy. To the point.

Good stuff all around and very practical.

Excellent read for the MSP

Jennifer is right to the point and helped me with getting over a fear of sounding sleazy. I am a tech and suck at sales. This has helped me understand that I am not selling, but helping people out. I recommend reading the books that Jennifer mentions as well.

Straight and to the point, Jennifer differentiates selling cybersecurity from IT services, defines a framework for learning and improving how to sell the security side, and leaves with a set of tips and tricks and things to think about in hiring a salesperson. An incredibly quick read that’s deceptively full of info and reminders for its size!
