Uncanny Stout: A Dark, Fortifying Collection of Macabre Stories

Rate this book
Zap Powers, an electrician with Earle Electric, has just come off a double shift restoring power to a small Southern town. Exhausted and hungry, he stops at a pub for a bite to eat on his way home. But the BW&S isn't an ordinary pub. As Zap tucks in to his "Beastie Burger" and Uncanny Stout taking in the ambiance of the place, eight stories of unease weave through his experience.

Uncanny Stout has the flavor of a Victorian ghost story with notes of The Twilight Zone.

Spooky fun

I enjoyed this set of stories, the first sections with Zap kind of annoyed me because it kinda felt like "the boobs boobed boobily" type situation. But I ended up liking how all his bits of story turned out. I had a gut feeling right off the bat with him and what his place was in these stories, but it still made my heart ache when it all came together.

The stories themselves were both familiar and fresh. Old ideas spun differently. Same spooks written with a fresh hand. I enjoyed them all & it's a perfect read right before Halloween.

Won from GoodReads

Won from a GoodReads Giveaway. I was a little confused in the beginning when the same story was continued after each short story, but I ended up really liking it. Unique and interesting stories.

Uncanny Stout delivers! If you enjoy a meaty ghost tale or eight, check out this book. To wash it all down, read "Nothing Like a Strong Pot of Tea" Just because your new friend is a little different, well, that's OK!
