Recently divorced Anderson Michaels is discovering a whole new life, not only for him but for his two kids, Zachary and Delilah. Finding his wife of fourteen years cheating on him is not how he expected his marriage to end. Though, he did know it would end—eventually. Anderson has been harboring a secret for a long, long time. One that wasn't easy to come to terms with. Now, after all that's happened, being honest with himself and everyone else is the only thing that makes sense. But Anderson soon finds that accepting his truth is the easy part; acting on it is what's difficult.
Will the change of scenery be enough to help Anderson and his kids through this tough time? Or was uprooting their entire life the biggest mistake he's ever made?
Sweet, easy read and great addition to the Single Dads of Gaynor Beach. I'm confused about Zach and Delilah's mother, she just leaves and that's it? Btw Delilah is not so young that she would have forgotten her mother. It felt more like she bottled things up but this was never addressed. That was probably one of my biggest quibbles about the story.
● Contemporary ● Small town ● Single dad (divorced) ● Age difference (I have no idea how much it never says, just implies) ● First time everything with a man ● No real angst ● Some minor drama involving Andy's son ● For the most part a good story ● A fairly simple read ● Loved the MCs ● Loved Delilah (she's so sweet and funny) ● Don't really get a handle on Zach but he seemed a like a great kid ● Nice HEA ● Part of a Multi Author series ● Can definitely be read as a stand alone
I have been enjoying the Single Dads of Gaynor Beach series so far and seeing different perspectives of the town that is almost a character in itself. Quell T. Fox is a new to me author and I was interested in seeing her writing style.
We start this story back in Nebraska as Anderson/Andy’s marriage is falling apart which eventually leads to him leaving his small, intolerant town and moving to Gaynor Beach. Andy is very much a peacekeeper, someone who prefers not to make waves. He stayed in his marriage to a woman even though he is gay. He even stayed faithful but when she decided to leave, she left him and their two kids.
Andy moves to Gaynor Beach where an online friend lives with his partner, so he isn’t starting out completely alone there. It isn’t long, though, before he meets Jack. Jack is kind of a jack of all trades. He helps his Grandma with her business, creates window art for small businesses and works at least two other jobs. Jack is fun loving and seems to be a genuinely nice guy.
I really like both of the characters. They’re not exactly perfect, but they are likable. Andy is a good father and he wants to take things slow, which Jack understands. They are a good couple, but if I’m being honest, I didn’t feel their chemistry as much as I would have liked. The kids and Andy’s friend couple are good side characters in the book, and there is a slight villain whose appearance in the story who I felt was more a filler or distraction more than anything.
Ultimately, this was an easy book to read. It flowed smoothly and I read through it at a good pace. It was a good addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next one.
Anderson has finally taken control of his life. For years he did what society expected. Marry his childhood sweetheart, make babies. Even when his wife knew his truth they stayed together and he never strayed. Now she's gone and he's raising two children. Needing to start over they move to Gaynor Beach, away from the judgement of small town Nebraska. Jack is outside of the studio Anderson is setting up when they meet. Anderson feels a pull towards Jack he's never experienced before. They quickly become fixtures in each other's lives. Will the kids accept this new reality? I can't deny the love at first sight, it happens. Anderson has a lot to learn and discover about himself and learning to communicate honestly with his partner is just one step. A step both men learn.
MM romance. A divorced father with two children relocates to get away from the small-town rumors plaguing him and his family. He moves to Gaynor Beach, a place recommended by online friends. There, he meets a guy and they start dating. It's all new to him. Also, the father of his daughter's friend turns out to be a jerk. Typos: Some problematic sentence structure and punctuation. "Passed" used for "past."
First book by Quell Fox and couldn't be happier. Heartbreak, emotional turmoil, standing up for and in your truth, just such a great story. I really enjoyed the characters and Anderson was so sweet and imperfectly perfect. I can't say too much without giving spoilers but this was a wonderful, enlightening book with a beautiful hea.
Another brilliant installment in Gaynor Beach and it was an amazing read. Anderson and his kids relocate in Gaynor Beach and try to start a new future after Anderson's marriage is in shambles. When he meets Jack a local artist, and things seem to start to look brighter for Anderson. I really enjoyed this book and others in this series.
Ehhhh…not sure about this one. Anderson and Jack spent so little time together that it was hard to see how they fell in love. Then Jack didn’t meet the kids until almost 90%?? Didn’t care for that
I loved this book. I don’t know if it was done on purpose or not but it felt a little open at the end, like there could be another book. Or it could be wishful thinking on my part lol.
No review, but just an FYI that this is a reissue under new author name of a previous release from last year, "Anderson" by Quell T. Fox.
I almost rebought it through Kobo where I would've not been able to return it. Please, authors, if you are republishing under a new name can you state that in your blurb?
