When new children are brought into the Social Welfare Agency, their minds are wiped and their bodies enhanced with the latest in cutting edge cybernetics. They are blank slates ready to be molded and conditioned as their handlers see fit. Yet for Angelica, the first of the Agency's cyborg assassins, memories of the life she once knew have started to return. Dreams of her childhood fill her sleep, and visions of her old dog, Perro, haunt her by day. Worst of all, remembering her past seems to be making her forget who she is now.
what a depressing volume. wasn't even expecting to cry going into it. i knew something sad was going to happen after seeing angelica and her dog in the cover, but damn. this whole situation about her deteriorating health leading to death makes my heart heavy.
and now, the handlers are contemplating about their own cyborg's situation. goes to show that they aren't as indifferent as they made out to be, just like how marco eventually showed how he was affected by what happened to angelica. sandro, having petra as the second generation, is a bit luckier as he has the longest time to be with her. but hilshire, jose and jean are different. and now triela's memory is slowly but surely faltering. i am so touched to see hilshire not wanting her to end up like angelica. he's afraid to see her die.
after reading this volume, now i'm starting to expect the worse. even i'm anxious to read what will happen next.
giving this a full star because this hit me right in the feels.
This was first time for me crying because of manga, it was just heartbreaking seeing this little girl die with her last words being about the fairy tale this man wrote for her. And next volumes are probably gonna be much more sad than this. One Thing this manga has that is absolutely perfect is ability to show emotions and unfairness characters are going through, not to mention it equally shows you each characters side and makes you love them which makes it all more sad that probably no characters especially cyborg girls are getting happy endings. I'm feeling extremely anxious to read next volumes because I don't want to see all those bad endings for those little girls but it's so good I can't stop reading it.
