LOVED IT! That is what I think! I love the format of an old picture, and then a more current one. Comparing the pictures, explaining when buildings were destroyed by fire or for future development, etc. I am glad I own it so when we go on our own excursions, I have a good reference book!

Part of a small series of picture books juxtaposing old photographs with current views from the same vantage point. By far the most compelling is the original downtown/warehouse district bustling street view which, now is merely the side of Saarinen's Gateway Arch.

pictoral history of the city. great resource before visiting. there is more history here than i had previously imagined. more than just mark twain and beer, anyway.

There were some great pictures in here! Unfortunately it's already so dated, as it was written in 1999.
