Hey fireflies! For those of you who don't already know me: my name's Chloe Henkel (@chloe.creating) and this is my book. Sick Days is a collection of poetry based on my own experiences with Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Trichotillomania (a compulsive hair-pulling disorder) and other mental health issues. I hope that these poems are able to bring comfort and a reminder that you are not alone to anyone who needs it.
More than anything, I hope to remind you all that you are more than your struggles, your disorders, and your sick days. You are a whole, beautiful, human being, who is deserving of all of the love and support you may need.
**Please note that this book does talk about sensitive, and potentially triggering topics, including depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. There are specific trigger warnings included in the book, but please take care in deciding if this is something you want to read if these are sensitive topics for you, because your safety and health is more important than anything.**
Inspirational. It’s difficult to find poetry that you can truly love because of how subjective poetry can be sometimes. This author expresses herself through honest, simple words that carry the most meaning. The words were always relatable and that is true talent- to be able to relate with other souls through art. I loved how uplifting and raw her poems could be. I’m definitely reading other books she may put out there!
This book feels like a warm hug and a mug of tea on a cold night. It not only emphasizes with the reality of mental health struggles- but it actively emphasizes the importance of healing and the actions of trying to be okay.
I keep it on my nightstand to read becuase it's uplifting in a way that makes me want to change my life for the better.
Chloe is such a talented writer who's words are so so important and lifesaving and meaningfull. Thank you so so much for writing this!!
This book is poetry and also about mental health. It is absolutely wonderful because this author is so open about her illness and determined to not let others feel alone or without resources. If you’ve experienced some of the things the author has you will feel like you have another friend :-) if you haven’t it will help you understand those around you who have :-) :-)
