Mine to Keep

Rate this book
An unlikely friendship, a stalking ex, and a serial killer on the loose.

FBI profiler Charlie Bekham prides himself on three unique talents: hacking any database, making women swoon with a cocky smirk, and letting no one see the desperate man buried deep. When a string of murders in Louisville, KY, requires extra help, he’s forced to partner with the brilliant yet shy Special Agent Rhyan Riggs to hunt the killer. Long nights of working the case fan the growing attraction between them, making Charlie question if “just friends” is enough.

Special Agent Rhyan Riggs is running from her past—a narcissistic ex, to be exact. Determined to move on from the terrible breakup, she focuses solely on her career… until him. Special Agent Charlie Bekham. Covered in tattoos, cocky as hell, and bad-boy hot, he’s exactly the type she should avoid at all costs but can’t seem to stay away from.

With more victims and at a dead end, Rhyan does the unthinkable—she puts herself in the killer’s sights. When the killer takes the bait and disappears with the woman Charlie’s fallen for, can he piece together the remaining clues before Rhyan becomes the next body found?

Mine to Keep is the fourth book in the interconnected standalone Protection Series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but because of character crossover, reading from book 1, Mine to Protect, is suggested. Due to foul language, discussion of emotional abuse, mention of suicide, and detailed intimate scenes, this book is recommended for readers 18+.

This is a Dark Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Protection series. I have read and review the first three books in this book series before picking up this book. I found the suspense part was just ok in this book unlike the other books in this series. I think this book is more of a police mystery book with some very hot steamy adult times mixed into it. This book was heavy on the romance part of this book unlike the other books in this series. This book gets very hot and heavy during some of the steamy times. I loved the characters in this book. Charlie was in the third book in this series, but he mostly worked on the computer in that book. I loved his character in the other book. I loved his character in this book too, but I wish his character worked on the computer more because I felt his characters was holding back during this book. I am happy to get his romance story in this book. I did not want to put this book down last night, so I ended up staying up late last night to read this book. I cannot wait for the next book in this book series.

I re-read this book in February 2022 and June 2022 and March 2024.

"You're amazing, Rhyan Riggs. No matter what happens in the future with us, know that's my fun fact about you."

4.25 stars!

I fell in love with Charlie's easy-going nature and humor in MINE TO GUARD, and I was so excited to finally read his story! Even though I'm not a big fan the workplace romance trope, I loved watching Charlie and Rhyan together. Charlie was such a swoony and sexy hero, and I loved how patient he was as Rhyan fought to overcome her anxiety and past. I loved Rhyan's quirky nature and love of random facts, but her growth and forgiveness for herself was so admirable. However, I have to admit that some of my favorite scenes were the interactions between Bryson, Charlie and Rhyan! They were so hilarious and witty, and Charlie's confidence was so damn hot. I cannot wait for Bryson's story, though I have a feeling it's going to break my heart a little ♡

My Charlie Bekham, with tattoos and piercings protecting his vulnerable soul..

(audiobook) This was a great romantic suspense–suspenseful, romantic, and hot. What else do you need?

Both Charlie and Rhyan are victims of prejudice–being a woman, Rhyan isn’t always taken seriously as an agent, and Charlie’s appearance, sexy and tattooed, leads people to think he’s just out for a good time, and not good at his job. Maybe this common ground is the reason why they understand each other, and why they respect each other.

Rhyan is still dealing with a previous relationship that ruined her self esteem and gave her permanent anxiety. Her backstory is really important, as her working with Charlie will force her to grow and change. And her past affects her work–just not always in a bad way.

Though the book focuses more on Rhyan’s character arc, Charlie was equally interesting. Besides the objectification he deals with, he also has a tragic past, one that shaped the man he is, which in turn led to struggles against his superior. He too is going to change, thanks to Rhyan.

Their love story, from attraction and crush, to coworkers and friends, to passionate lovers, progresses fast, but without skipping a step. Through their interactions, both professional and personal, you can actually see their relationship evolving.

As for the suspense, it was well done. I love a good serial killer story, and this one was even better as there’s doubt at the beginning regarding the deaths–murders or suicides? The investigation sometimes relies on coincidences or happy mistakes, but mostly it’s thorough and gripping. I loved that there was a third person in the team, Bryson, as a buffer and a sounding board, impacting Rhyan and Charlie’s personal and professional relationship.

Narrators are two of the best out there, and once again they show their talent. The emotions are on full display, and it’s a pleasure to listen to them giving life to Charlie and Rhyan. A great romantic suspense in audio.

Quickie

- Series: Protection #4 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #romantic suspense #workplace romance #friends to lovers
- Triggers: murders, emotional abuse, cheating, objectification
- Main couple: Rhyan Riggs & Charlie Bekham
- Hotness: 4/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + a gripping mystery with a nice twist
- – there are appropriate times for concupiscence, guys

Yet again the author has written another page turning suspense, both the plot and the characters will make it almost impossible to look away, this book is slightly different than other books by this author in as far as the suspense side took a slight back seat to make the female lead shine while she came out of her shell, you will adore her.
Hope we get to see them in future books as I'm curious to see how the the events of the end of the book pan out.

Mine to Keep
is the third stand alone in the Protection series by Kennedy L Mitchell. A romantic suspense that full of steam and danger.

FBI profiler Charlie Bekham is new to the BAU and between being treated like a piece of meat by female agents and not taken serious by his boss, he needs something to give. When a friend asks him to put a case before the BAU he has high hopes that are quickly dashed by his boss. Yet one of his superiors, Special Agent Rhyan Riggs, thinks the case is worth a second look and backs him up to get approval. Charlie and Rhyan have to work together to stop a killer whose praying on unfaithful wives, with very little to work on. The two also have to navigate their feels of attraction and so much more as they get to know each other . Will their special connection survive and have the chance to grow when the case puts Rhyan life in danger.

"To be the one you can lose control with, knowing I'll catch you when you fall, and be ready to do it all over again, and again and again."

Charlie and Rhyan are both quality characters who are lonely, both mistreated by the opposite sex, and more than meets the eye. Rhyan's ex really did a number on her. She's afraid to be confident outside her job, even though she's brilliant, and she's so insecure over her anxiety and quirky fandom fun facts' word vomit. My poor Charlie being treated like a piece of meat , seriously women can be just as gross and disrespectful as men. He deserves someone who wants to know the man inside , the hacker with a heart of gold, and that someone is Rhyan. Once he realized Rhyan is his person, he doesn't give up on her and helps her see how amazing she is, and eventually she believes him.

"I didn't know" I said, eyes squeezed shut, "that it could be amazing like this." "It's you. Only with you. I'll never have enough."

While the intimacy between them is a slow burn, it doesn't lack any steam at all. Damn the sexual tension between them was tangible and she doesn't make shy his feelings of attraction. Charlie is a dirty talker yet still super respectful of Rhyan. Consent consent consent and communication omg Charlie is the poster man for these things and it was very welcome. Even though Rhyan is insecure and inexperienced, he takes his time while still letting her know exactly how much she affects him. The sexual tension build pays off deliciously when they finally come together.

"Now that I've found this, know that this kind of happy exists, I'm never letting you go."

The story's case itself was interesting, but it completely fell to the wayside for me while the relationship development between Charlie and Rhyan was the star. I also completely say the plot twist coming, but that's probably because I read a good amount of mystery books.

In the end, Mine to Keep, is another highly entertaining romantic suspense from author Kennedy L. Mitchell. Filled with strong leads, great side characters, danger, sexual tension, and quirky facts.

P.s- I NEED agent Bryson Bennett's story immediately 😭 it's going to have SO many FEELS !!!

Finally decided to get back into Kennedy L. Mitchell's Protection series and I'm not disappointed at all! This was a FBI profiler co-worker(ish) romance - our heroine, Rhyan, has anxiety (and some paranoia, I think) and is learning to deal with the end of her breakup with her emotionally, abusive ex. On the other hand, we have our hero, Charlie, who's a hacker and profiler bad boy type. Tattoos, piercings, yes he has them all. However, beneath his James Dean exterior is an emotionally open guy which I greatly appreciated. Charlie's open and frank about his feelings, and reassures and boosts Rhyan's self-confidence. He's an all-round good guy.

As for the suspense bit of the story, it's adequate - nothing too remarkable but not entirely boring either. I'd give it a solid passing grade :]

Overall, this is one of the better stories in the series and definitely worth a listen via audiobook! The last 10% was rather thrilling and exciting, elevating the overall story for sure!

Charlie is fed up of the ladies married or not coming onto him, he's an excellent profiler and desperate to investigate a case he's come across.
Ryann has doubts about herself she's also an excellent profiler strong confident but her personal life is different.
Checking the cases she agrees with Charlie and the investigation begins.
I enjoyed reading this book the storyline and case really draws you in. I liked the characters especially Ryann's random facts.

I wanted to give it more than 5 stars.

This book was electrifying. If you love Romance-Meets-Criminal- Minds, this book is for you.
I just couldn't put it down.

The story was solid, the plot was addictive and the characters were wonderfully built.
Both Rhyan and Charlie went beyond their appearances and what was expected from them. They didn't conform to the pattern and were multidimensional.

Rhyan was driven and confident in her line of work. She knew what she was doing and she stood on her ground. On the other hand, she was a huge work in progress emotionally.
After a nasty breakup, whose binds she was still fighting against, she found herself dealing with mind-consuming anxiety and a blow to her self-worth.
Her situation was painful, yet beautifully written.

Charlie was the epitome of the hero/book boyfriend. He was extremely smart, sexy as heck (who doesn't love a tattooed man in a suit?) and so respectful.
It warmed my heart seeing him so intent on making Rhyan feel comfortable, safe, and free enough to be herself.
He might have shown himself as a bad boy, but he was so much more than that. He was cocky but vulnerable; he was sharp and funny; he was edgy, yet considerate enough to take a step back to let Rhyan shines and runs the show (either their job or their relationship) at her own pace.
To sum up, he was as sexy as he was swoony. A book boyfriend to never forget.

It was empowering watching Rhyan assert herself at her job while blossoming emotionally. And Charlie was right there every step of the way, supporting, nurturing, cheering her on - and making me fall for him.
After being used for so long by selfish, toxic people, both of them were finally experiencing what it was like to be in a healthy and loving relationship.

And if that wasn't enough, their chemistry was off the charts.
Their banter and connection came easily and the tension building between them most certainly led them to the most enticing explosion.

Gah!! Another fabulous read from this author, I don’t know how she keeps doing it. I loved this couple, Rhyan with her fun facts and hot as Charlie! I was fully invested in them as couple, she was not confident outside of her job and Charlie sick of being treated like a piece of meat by the opposite sex, they were perfect for each other. I loved the story, I was gripped trying to guess who did it, another amazing read and another favourite of the year .

Every book I read by this author just gets better and better! This book is yet another FIVE STAR, MUST READ romantic suspense set in the FBI world.

What you can expect from the hero:
Alpha FBI agent
Tattooed badboy
Hacker
Dirty-talker and sexy AF

What you can expect from the heroine:
Fearless FBI agent
Quirky and witty
Bold, brilliant and beautiful

Together these two are FIRE! Their chemistry and steam is off the charts, and they have become one of my favorite couples from this author. The storyline is original, dark, twisty, and oh so suspenseful; and it will keep you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath. I loved every second of this book and can't recommend this author enough!! If you love romantic suspense, YOU NEED THIS BOOK!!! Bravo KL Mitchell!!

4..5 ⭐️s for this compelling romantic suspense…

This was my first Kennedy L. Mitchell novel/audio and it won’t be my last. I was pulled in to the book (which is part of Mitchell’s larger Protection series but can also be read as a standalone) from the start. The MCs, Charlie and Rhyan, are both FBI profilers with the BSU and I totally dug the Criminal Minds vibes. From the cold open prologue to Rhyan’s Reid-like quirkiness and Charlie’s Morgan-esque broody protectiveness (not “baby girl” to be had, but still great chemistry), Mitchell takes the best elements of that similar context, but still creates her own approach. Rhyan is brilliant at her job but insecure in her personal life, with a toxically coercive former relationship in her past. She’s fall on sharing random factoids to cover awkwardness, which (of course) is total cat nip to Charlie. He’s the junior profiler in the scenario, which was a refreshing change, but he also has tech skills (hacker past, strong personal reasons for wanting to be a profiler rather than just a cybercrimes guy). He isn’t taken as seriously on the job because of his good looks and is tired of being seen as only good for a sexy encounter; he wants a true connection. As their attraction and connection simmers and their relationship grows, Rhyan and Charlie are also on the trail of a serial killer. The suspense elements had good pacing and build compellingly, and there was a solid balance with the romance. Mitchell also managed some humorous moments despite the heavy subject (the stakeout scene had some great levity without harming the seriousness). Plus, she also set up the next hero (Bryson) really well and I am excited to read his story.

My minor quibble is in regards to the oddness of Rhyan’s BF Olivia calling Charlie without knowing him and revealing some of Rhyan’s history to him. I know Olivia is trying to be a good friend so that Charlie can be on guard in case something happens, but I couldn’t help but feel that some of what she shared was Rhyan’s to tell. Props to Charlie for coming clean immediately to her about it, so at least it didn’t become a major tangential plot point; it was just a writerly choice that stuck out as less smooth than others Mitchell made throughout the rest of the novel.

The audiobook performances here were spectacular. Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton were in fine form. Mitchell is one of my fav narrators and she captured both Rhyan’s confidence as well as her vulnerability. Plus, her delivery of those adorably awkward factoids always made me smile. And when she does male voices - holy hotness, Batman! Hamilton has this great range where he perfectly delivers the sweet and funny, but the listener can still totally buy him as growly sexy when it counts. Charlie is a bit of a bossy dirty talker and Hamilton totally delivered on that. The narration was just *chef’s kiss* all around.

Definitely worthwhile whether you listen or read, though listening is highly recommended because of the performances.

I received and ALC via Home Cooked Books and read via KU. All opinions are my own.

4.25 stars--MINE TO KEEP is the fourth instalment in Kennedy L. Mitchell’s contemporary, adult PROTECTION erotic, romantic suspense series. This is thirty-seven year old, FBI profiler Charlie Bekham, and thirty-five year old Special Agent Rhyan Riggs’ storyline. MINE TO KEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Charlie was first introduced in book three MINE TO GUARD.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Charlie and Rhyan) MINE TO KEEP follows FBI profiler Charlie Beckham and Special Agent Rhyan Riggs of the Behavioral Science Unit, and a case in Louisville, Kentucky where several women have reportedly committed suicide over the past several months. Believing there was more to the story than was reported, Charlie and Rhyan, head to Kentucky in an effort to uncover the truth but our couple is met with disdain at the Louisville FBI office, and Rhyan will be targeted by a misogynistic agent. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Charlie and Rhyan, and the potential fall-out our couple, with the help of the Agent Bryson Bennett, of an investigation where profilers go everything wrong.

The FBI team’s section chief Carter has targeted both Charlie and Rhyan. Rhyan is equal in status to Carter, but has refused to take control. The rumors around the office make Rhyan the proverbial gossip punching bag, and Charlie finds himself on Carter’s sh*t list for sins of the past. Working together to profile a possible serial killer, Rhyan finds herself wanting something more with our story line hero.

The relationship between Rhyan and Charlie begins as partners but Charlie suspects something dark in Rhyan’s past. Rhyan’s sense of personal self-worth is negligible, and in this, Charlie sets out to prove she is worthy of friendship and love. Days and nights spent working together push our couple together but tracking down a killer means placing one or both in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

We are introduced to FBI Agent Bryson Bennett, lead detective Steven Hicks, section chief Carter, and Assistant Deputy Director Garr, and via phone Rhyan’s controlling ex Brian, and her bestie Olivia Reynolds. Bryson Bennett’s story line is next in MINE TO HOLD.

MIND TO KEEP is a story of power and control, obsession, vengeance and murder, acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is intriguing and edgy; the romance is energetic and provocative; the characters are spirited and realistic. My only complaint is the lack of any true closure with the ex-boyfriend story line.

More Protection Series Greatness! Amazing Story & Narration🎧📚🎧

Mine to Keep
Protection Series
By: Kennedy L. Mitchell
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Maxine Mitchell

Kennedy L. Mitchell continues to blow me away with another amazing novel, a romantic suspense set in her “Protection” series, a series of interconnected standalone novels. Each book features different lead characters, but some crossover into each other’s books and knowing their backstories adds more depth, plus seeing them again is like seeing old friends. This fourth book FBI profiler Charlie Beckham and Special Agent Rhyan Riggs’s story, and what a story it is, if I could, would give it ten stars and I do not want to say this series gets better and better because it would not be fair to the earlier books which are just as amazing. Like most of the ladies in the book, I absolutely adored Charlie Beckham, he looks like a tatted bad boy, but don’t let that fool you, he can get inside your head and profile you like no other, he could also hack your computer too. Newly assigned to the Behavioral Science Unit as a profiler he has to prove his worth to his boss, Carter, who hadn’t not like him from the start. Rhyan got out of an unhealthy relationship, unhealthy for her and is fairly new to the BSU, she is quirky and a bit of an outcast but Charlie turns to her and complains when Carter shoots his idea down about investigating a case in Kentucky, she looks into it and goes to the boss with it who then authorizes the investigation, assigning her and Charlie the case, she is to monitor him too, the boss does not trust him. These two made a great team, both job wise and on a personal level, the chemistry between them was sizzling and they could only deny each other for so long. Watching them work the case was amazing too. This captivating story is cleverly plotted with the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling suspense, action, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Kennedy L. Mitchell, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, and did so with a complete understanding of their persona, and were believable in every role they played. Hamilton’s Charlie Beckham was spot on, he pulled off every side of his personality, from his I don’t give a crap to tough guy to his soft and caring side. Mitchell nailed it as Rhyan, grasped her insecurities, quirkiness, her smarts and her strength. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them in to their performance, making you feel every single on. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

Charlie and Ryan are both FBI agents. Charlie is a talented hacker who is often stereotyped because of his tattooed appearance; Rhyan has a great mind for profiling, but suffers from issues with anxiety and self doubt, thanks to a complete jerk of an ex. These two have great chemistry from the start, and athough they try to remain professional, things start to heat up between them as they work together to solve a string of murders. As they grow closer, Charlie is protective, but handles Rhyan in a very caring way. He seems to know when to push her to help her overcome her insecurities, and when to just be there for her. She experiences a good amount of character growth during this story, in large part due to Charlie's support. They are a great match and their relationship seemed very natural.

This story was a nice balance of suspense, romance, drama, and steam. Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton were a great duo for the narration. Teddy was perfect as the cocky, dirty-talking Charlie, and Maxine voiced Rhyan's quirkiness and vulnerability effortlessly. Maxine is often partnered with another prolific narrator of this genre, and while I do enjoy that pairing, I would love to see her and Teddy together more in the future.

This is the fourth book in Kennedy Ryan's Protection series. I have not read the first three books and feel this book held up great as a stand-alone. I probably would have had a bit more insight into some of the characters if I'd read the other books in the series, but I don't feel it detracted from this story at all.

Overall, this book was a great listen. I enjoyed it so much that I intend to go back and listen to the first three books in the series.

I was provided with a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Audiobook Review
ByKennedy L. Mitchell
Narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell
***SPOILERS***
I did not realize this was the 4th book in the series til I started. This is my first by this author but it will not be my last! I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything by not reading the others first, but now that I’ve listened to this one I will definitely listen to the other books in this series.
Rhyan is a mess. From the beginning she’s obviously dealing with more than we’re led to believe by the gossiping coworkers. Her ex really messed her up. Charlie was so easy to love from the beginning. Even when he was being an ass. The sexual tension between these two is through the roof. Walking through the profiling process with them was fascinating. Teddy and Maxine are amazing as always! They really brought this story to life. All the emotions! I could literally feel the tension. I hated the way Rhyan froze up at crucial moments!! But I’d probably be the same way. I do understand that her ex really kilIed her self esteem in her personal life but we’re led to believe throughout the whole story that she’s confident in her career and I just expect more from trained FBI Agents. I didn’t figure out the twist til it was almost too late. But I got so aggravated with Rhyan that I was yelling at her. (I do this a lot 😂)The angst in the last few chapters is intense! I feel like our h is left looking like a helpless, naive female instead of the confident, career driven female I wanted her to be. But it all ended up great! She stood up for herself and her team and won me over! Overall I really enjoyed this story it’s angsty, it’s a slow burn, but once they get started it’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and it’s emotional. I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of this series especially Bryson Bennett’s story!

“I don’t lick what’s not mine, and I sure as hell don’t share.”

Mine to Keep by Kennedy L. Mitchell is book four in the Protection Series. I love it when a heroine starts a sentence with “I could’ve acted like a normal human, but…” Agent Rhyan Riggs is a badass FBI profiler and totally adorkable. Charlie Beckham is a bad boy hacker-turned-agent with a heart of gold. Charlie is a well-balanced crunchy cinnamon roll; he has both protective alpha and gooey cinnamon roll tendencies and I am here for all of it! I loved the progression of Rhyan and Charlie’s relationship as it evolved from colleagues to friends to lovers. A quick road-trip, close proximity, and on-the-job tension forced them to connect quickly. The car sizzled with chemistry…and maybe a tad TMI from Rhyan. She constantly had me in stitches and Charlie’s safeguarding of Rhyan is swoon-worthy. Kennedy will keep you guessing with twists, turns, and complex characters. This slow-burn, workplace romantic suspense is spicy and devilishly twisted. I loved every minute!

Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell are two of my top-tier narrator favorites. Teddy plays sweetheart protector wonderfully. He fluidly switches between Charlie’s charming, laidback, entertaining character and his growly, fiercely loyal, bodyguard side. Maxine Mitchell is a queen of romantic suspense narration! She played Rhyan’s filterless, shy, enchanting character perfectly. The way she portrays Rhyan’s anxious, brilliant, lovable personality was captivating. I couldn’t stop listening…and had to immediately jump to the next book! Kennedy L. Mitchell is a new favorite author of mine, this series is wonderfully haunting. These books stick with you in a bone chillingly creepy and amazing way!

Mine to Keep is book 4 in the interconnected stand-alone Protection series. This is actually my first book by this Author, though I do intend to go back and listen to the other books in the series now that I’m hooked. This gritty romantic suspense crime thriller with a forbidden attraction element features Charlie and Rhyan, who are FBI profilers. If you like Criminal Minds with a splash of coworkers who are wildly attracted to each other (but try to resist) then this book is for you! He is new to the team and clashes with the boss. Rhyan is a senior detective who sticks up for him and convinces the boss to let them investigate. She is fighting her own demons from a former relationship and I really liked her character because it accurately shows that even a strong, educated person can slowly lose who they are by degrees to a manipulative narcissistic jerkwad - even if you are an FBI profiler. They are both strong personalities who find their person. Their broken pieces fit together. I really liked that. Their romance is a bit of a slow burn and fits well with the casework to find the killer before they strike again. Ultimately, I enjoyed the mystery, the suspense, and the developing romance. I played 1-more chapter in order to finish the book in mostly one setting.

The narration by Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton really brought the story to life and emotionally invested me in the characters and their evolving story as they race to catch a serial killer before they can strike again! I would definitely recommend this book and plan to go back and read the rest of the series.

Mine to Keep is another suspenseful and sizzling hot romantic suspense from Kennedy L. Mitchell. It was an action packed story with lots pf twists and some intriguing characters. The author has established herself as someone who excels in writing military and related romance and this story was a great one too.
.
FBI profiler and expert hacker Charlie Beckham wants people to take him seriously and not for his sex appeal only. So when he is sent to Louisville to investigate a series of suicides by married women, he is not sure how to feel. But his superior and Special Agent Rhyan Riggs want to go deep and soon things are coming out. Rhyan is running from her abusive ex and she is wounded. Charlie may be the exact person to heal her but working together in a complicated and dangerous case isn't exactly the best scenario.
.
The heroes Kennedy Mitchell writes are always so delicious. They have a c0cky arrogance but also let the heroine shine brightly. And the author writes some amazing fierce heroines too and Rhyan is just that. Charlie is so swoony and drool worthy and their chemistry is insane. It was one big slow burn but the tension is always there. Rhyan is dealing with a lot and this case is bringing out some demons for sure. I loved the balance of romance and suspense. The story has some amazing secondary characters and you would want more.

FBI profiler Charlie is tired of women treating him like a piece of meat. Just because he carries that bad boy vibe with piercings, tats, muscles and hot doesn't mean he doesn't want a meaningful relationship with a woman.
Special Agent Rhyan is brilliant and independent woman who you do not want to cross in the work atmosphere but outside of that she is a shy, insecure and inexperienced woman who has been beaten down emotionally by her ex and therefore, is hard on herself.
When Charlie and Rhyan travel to help his friends out with a serial killer case he doesn't quiet know what to make of her quirkiness and her fun facts. There is definitely an attraction to one another. He feels he needs to uncover the scars that lurk beneath the surface to find out who hurt her.
Charlie is so patient with Rhyan. Supporting and helping her build up her confidence. Slowly pulling her out of her shell.
I can relate to Olivia. So much like me. Absolutely loved the Charlie train!
The banter is a wonderful touch to this romantic suspenseful story. It will keep you intrigued from beginning to end! Wonderful characters and plot!
Two lost and lonely souls healing one another and finding love.
Can't wait for Bryson's story!!

**Audiobook Review**

Man oh, man. I loved Ryhan and Charlie so much and was hooked from the prologue. “Mine to Keep” is an action packed, steamy and unputdownable romantic suspense that pulled me in with the premise of the serial killer story line and kept me to the end as Rhyan and Charlie worked to solve the case.

Charlie Beckham is one of the newest FBI profilers and has been working hard to excel and move up in the FBI. Special Agent Rhyan Riggs is also new to the area and has been working to leave her past behind her. When Charlie gets a request from Louisville, Rhyan volunteers to go with him and help solve a string of murders that have been targeting women. As the two work together, the obvious chemistry comes out and they grow closer. But as the work on solving the case, Rhyan quickly realizes the way to catch the killer… is to become one of their possible victims.

I loved Rhyan from the start. She’s smart, a bit quirky, genuine and is one amazing agent. Rhyan suffers from anxiety and it was in the story respectfully. It brought up no matter who you are, anxiety can be a part of your life but it can be managed. I connected with her right from the start and loved everything about her. And Charlie… I love a confident man who knows who he is and isn’t afraid to be himself. His confidence was so attractive and I fell for him right along with Rhyan. I loved the serial killer story line and the plot twists that were thrown in were so good. I could not stop listening once I started and finished in one sitting.

Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell are phenomenal as Charlie and Rhyan. Teddy did a great job of bringing Charlie’s protectiveness and alpha side out perfectly. Maxine brought Ryhan’s amazing personality to life and I loved how I could hear her find her confidence as the story went on.

4th in the series but the stand alone quality is high with this series. I'm having zero issues reading completely out of order.

This is what happens when 2 FBI profilers with some mutual unspoken attraction go explore a potential case together. It's perfection!

Charlie is the newer member of the team, the boss has some animosity towards him, the ladies of the office are throwing themselves at him (even when they shouldn't). He's tattooed, fit and gorgeous, but wanting a deeper connection with someone.

Rhyan has a past that won't let go. She has two sides of herself that people see, the quirky, anxious, odd ball and the confident, in charge, special agent. Very few see and appreciate the whole Rhyan.

Add in a narcissistic jerkwad ex, some unhelpful coworkers/supervisors, anxiety attacks, meddling friends and this is just the beginning for Charlie and Rhyan.

The audiobook was performed by Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton. I really love listening to this pairing. Maxine is a queen of audio and brought Rhyan to life with all her quirks and issues so well. The emotional extremes that Rhyan gets into because of her anxiety is very dramatic at times, it was both written and performed so believably. Teddy was superb as protective yet vulnerable Charlie. Wanting to do anything possible to protect Rhyan but still allow her to be the strong independent woman and capable agent she is. He doesn't let her retreat or hide, he pushes when needed but does a great job of knowing where the line of "too much" is for Rhyan's limits.

I requested and was generously provided with a copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

Mine to Keep
Protection Series
By: Kennedy L. Mitchell
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Maxine Mitchell

Another winning romantic suspense for my ears! Kennedy L Mitchell made my Sunday fly by with Mine to Keep. This is a story that captured my attention, as I love to get into the mind of serial killers. The process that profilers go through is so interesting, and with Rhyan and Charlie's budding romance as well, I was captivated! As more and more women are showing up dead, these two team up to find the killer. Someone interested in cheating spouses? Is that the clue? Could be, but there is so much more to look at. With Charlie's hacker skills and Rhyan ability to climb into the head of a killer, these two should be unstoppable. Then why can't they find who it is? As the bedroom begins to sizzle, plans formed and a deadline lurking, we get to see exactly how it all pans out! Get ready for twists and turns that are unexpected and completely change the course! Love this story!

Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell are fabulous whenever I hear them. Together they are even better! Hamilton is arrogant, tattooed, hacker Charlie with all the attitude and all the swooniness. He is the kind of man wanted to both love and protect. Mitchell is in Rhyan's head, and gives all her past a little room to let us understand her. Then she provides her future feelings and we get all the feels. These two give it all, bravery, fear, surprise, and love bringing it all together for a fantastic listen!

This a great book that grips you from the beginning. Great buildup to this suspenseful story along the way….the ending was very unexpected and intense.

Rhyan is a bit on the quiet side, lacks some confidence but is a great investigative profiler.

Charlie is a patient, kind and confident man…especially behind closed doors. He is also a great investigate profiler.

Their jobs is what bring them together. They have an intense attraction and try to keep their feelings in check but the draw to one another is unstoppable. Charlie is so good to her and takes his time so he doesn’t push her too fast. They are very passionate and intense…Charlie is a talker.

Looking forward to listening to the other books in the series.

Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell are the dream duo. I love their voices and they do an amazing job with this performance. Teddy’s voice is strong, intense and smexy which is perfect for Charlie. Maxine’s voice is so warm, smooth and caring which is perfect for Rhyan. I love how narrators bring a whole new experience to enjoying a book.

This was an awesome book. I loved it, I couldn't put it down. I have been waiting for Charlie's story and Kennedy did no disappoint. Rhyan and Charlies story is packed with so many twists and turns, so many OMG WTF moments and tons of laughter. I think Rhyan is my new favorite lead h ever! Her quirks were so relatable and so funny, I couldn't help but fall in love with her. Charlie, what's not to love about a tatted up and pierced bad boy???

If you want a book that will suck you in and leave you wanting more with each turn of the page, you need to read this one! I wish I could give it 50 stars!!!!

Two people have insecurities of their own but their appearances give the opposite reactions to outsiders.
Charlie & Ryhan find themselves at the perfect time of their lives, both wanting to escape the past and start a new life.
Ryhan has become fragile from her last relationship but this case she has taken on, has been the best distraction and she gets to partner up with her crush Charlie.
Charlie has been successful on his cases but can do so much more if his hands weren’t tied because of the director.
This installment has suspense, adrenaline and the chemistry between Charlie & Rhyan is off the charts. Love them!

This book was such a great ride! This is my second book by this author, and I’m really loving this series! I love the character growth that Rhyan had throughout the book. Charlie was kind and patient with Rhyan but a tough cop with awesome tattoos and a tongue ring. I enjoyed the police investigation that went along with the romance. This book was well written with great conflict that kept me listening ti the end. It wasn’t as spicy as the first book that I listened to but it fit the story and the characters. I loved the narrators. These are two of my favorites. I can’t wait to listen to more books in this series! I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I love this author’s words and Charlie and Rhyan are exactly why!

I was used to the danger and action and interesting characters and this read notched that all up notches and notches.

Charlie and Rhyan were different characters in the best of ways. They were each vulnerable which surprised me (in a good way) given the jobs they had. They were smart, wickedly good at what they did, yet were hampered by self-doubt and (all too) familiar machinations of work-place shenanigans. Their jobs mattered to the people they protected and, in turn, they cared deeply about what they did. When that was completely opposed to them falling in love, well, complicated became a wicked problem… How it all played out was a reading treat…

I loved these characters. Loved, loved, loved them. And made this read one of my favourites of the year. ~Diane, 5 stars

This is the fourth book in the Protection Series, a Romantic Suspense. Charlie and Rhyan's story is fast-paced, entertaining, passionate, and suspenseful. They are both great characters. I like the mystery, and the twists and turns. The investigation is captivating. Outstanding narration from Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton. I enjoyed it, and I HIGHLY recommend it. #HomeCookedBooks
