When your world becomes a ticking time-bomb, you might as well time the explosion to inflict maximum damage.

The real challenge comes in the aftermath, when you’re forced to face everything you lost in order to survive. Uniting multiple packs is impossible enough with their constant fighting, and now Damian, Hunter, and Kaige expect me to get the Slaughters on our side? To dethrone a man that already survived death at their hands once?

I’m no one’s salvation, I’m their ruin.

All that I inspire in these men is the desire to throw what remains of their souls onto the pyre, forcing me to helplessly watch as all of our lives go up in flames.  Maybe this is part of my curse, maybe they’re just as broken as I am, but the one thing I’m certain of? Either we come together, or we’ll be ripped apart; in every sense of the words.

I have no idea what to expect when we get to murder mountain, but the silver lining that comes from being broken? I get to construct someone new out of the pieces. The monster prowling beneath my flesh embraces her jagged edges, and isn’t afraid to reduce anyone who’d dare take what’s ours to smoke and ash.

We’re hellfire and damnation wrapped in a pretty little package. And we’re done running.

This is a darker themed paranormal romance where the heroine gets all of her men, and contains graphic details, so please read the note in the beginning of the book before choosing to read. This is the third of a four book series that follows the same characters, and as such, will end with a cliffhanger, but the next book is my primary project until the series is completed.

Okay, I’m stopping here.
Lost interest with this series.
Way to many love interest: 7 guys, it’s a bit too much for a RH for my taste and for me to be able to get to know everyone and like them, and I’m not even counting the personality switch with their inner wolves. It’s getting confusing, don’t know who’s talking or what ( thanks god the name is the character is written in the beginning of the chapters but without it I’m lost)
I’m sad because this series had an amazing potential but didn’t live up to the first book.

There was too much talking and not enough action or actual character development in this book. The FMC Sabrina spent so much time trying to be a therapist for her multitude of mates and potential mates - I don't think the large harem (7-ish so far) is really working well for this series. I don't recall a single new mate added this whole book, just tons of family drama. We only finally got some new significant information about Sabrina's history in the last few pages of the book - the rest of the book was kind of exhausting and boring when there wasn't smut involved.

I don’t know how I feel about this series, and I genuinely don’t know how to rate it. The author did an awesome job with the storyline and overall plot, and the world-building was great. Everything was very well written from a technical standpoint.

The characters were also well done. Their personalities and backstories felt mostly fleshed out—though not perfectly. I didn’t dislike any of the main characters, and I especially liked the FMC. I appreciated that she was logical and didn’t act like an overtired toddler all the time (no constant running, crying, or hiding). She came close to being badass when her wolf was in control. Almost. I love reading about strong, independent heroines, and while she just missed the mark here, I’m hoping she’ll really come into herself in the next book. I can hope, anyway.

What I didn’t enjoy: the relationships.
The guys also had a lot of undeserved negative thoughts about the FMC—calling her their downfall or poisonous fruit, saying she brought out the worst in them… and then, in the next breath, claiming she was their salvation and that they loved her. It was confusing and inconsistent. All the negativity directed at her, combined with her own constant negative self-talk, made the story feel overwhelmingly depressing.

On top of that, we spend far too much time stuck in everyone’s heads, listening to endless internal monologues about guilt and misery. They tear down the FMC, wallow in their messed-up lives, berate themselves, and endlessly lament their awful childhoods. Not a single genuinely happy moment occurs in the entire book—everything is bleak, heavy, and joyless.

As for the steam, there was barely any. Overall, the story felt almost entirely devoid of warmth or happiness.

Steaminess: 🔥🔥 2/5
Romance: ♥️ 1/5
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
Story pacing: ⭐️⭐️ 2/5

J. Kearston really brought it with Pack Punished. It's the third book in the Thrown to the Wolves* series and it totally blew my mind. This series just keeps getting better. With all the drama, wolf politics, history, threats, and its unique take on shifter mythology, I am obsessed.

These characters are so complex, just when I thought I had a handle on everybody's personalities everything changed. Sabrina is barely holding it together but it's worse than I thought and better, there is something else at play there but her wolf scares the crap out of me. The Beast is calculating and I don't know if I should be worried about it or not, friend or foe? Side note, I think Sabrina might be a sociopath, just kidding, maybe. She doesn't do empathy and looks at emotions logically. However, she does seem to be experiencing more emotions because of the guys so there might be hope.

I feel bad for the guys. It's never been more obvious that they love Sabrina but they are just realizing all the mistakes they've been making with her. All that they put on her shoulders by thinking she's the solution to all their problems. They get that straightened out fairly quickly and are trying to give Sabrina exactly what she needs. A place to feel safe, process things and handle things in the way that she wants to. They are trying really hard and the unresolved relationship stuff gets to take care of in this one. I like all the guys now, they each bring things to the pack that makes them stronger. However, I still have to say no matter how much I love all the guys Cin is still my favorite "murder puppy".

The plot of this series went completely left in this book. The pack destroyed Adrien's pack but are still kinda under threat, the Slaughters are nothing like anyone thought they would, some things about Annika were revealed that are so out there it's unbelievable, the main bad guy who's been behind everything has inserted himself, questions about paternity, and more shocking revelations turned this story on its head and in a way no one could have seen coming.

I'm glad that it still had its uniqueness. Everyone is miserable and sees being a werewolf as a curse and they might be right an old folk is told to Sabrina and it kinda lines up with everything, kinda reads like being a fairytale but no one learns the lesson so the misery just keeps spreading. Seeing the trio's (Damien, Kaige, and Hunter) packs, how they live, the area, and how they act things are really clicking into place. Sabrina and the guys face obstacle after, obstacle, threat, after threat, but they aren't giving up. They may be down but they aren't out and will keep the fight for the kind of life they want.

Packed Punished was completely savage and I loved it. I can't get enough of this series, too bad it's all gonna be over soon, Sabrina's story will be wrapping up in the fourth and final book, Pack Possessed, and after that cliff that Kearston dropped us off of at the end I'm so beyond ready to see how it all ends, hears to hoping for a HEA, Sabrina and the guys deserve.

J. Kearston has once again done it with Pack Punished, the third book in her Thrown to the Wolves series! Just when you think you have things figured out, and know where the story’s going…bam! More twists and turns then your favorite roller coaster!

Reeling from discoveries made at the end of book 2, Sabrina and her mates work on cleaning up the mess left behind after the previous battle and all it’s ensuing chaos. When evidence points them to new discoveries and evil forces working against them, even more mayhem occurs. Will they all be able to come together to join forces against this newfound evil or doomed to always be at odds?

While the pacing on this one is a tad different then the previous stories, focusing more on feelings and emotions, I still loved the flow and having the chance to learn a bit more info and gain some insight into the other characters. I also loved watching their bonds grow as they all try and work together to overcome new battles, face new challenges and work to uncover long held secrets and finally get some long awaited answers!

Overall, this is a definite must read for any RH paranormal shifter romance loving fan. The hot and steamy scenes were as fabulous as always and the hilarious moments worked perfectly to offset the traumatic heart wrenching ones that left you screaming. And that ending!!! Needless to say I cannot wait for the next book!

Pack Punished is the third book in the Thrown to the wolves series. After dealing with the aftermath of book 2, things are mentally (and physically) spiralling out of control for Sabrina. Not only that, a new evil lurks, as well as more battles and challenges head their way.

I love this series so much. This has to me the most emotional book in this series. While there may be a little less action than previous books, it was complex and their bond is **chef's kiss**. It's also not a J Kearston story without that comic relief and hot, smexy times to balance it out. It is such an enjoyable read.

I'm comfortable in this world, so the ending was like a kick in the butt. I just finished laughing at something...then that cliffhanger! And how do i feel sorry for the Slaughters and think they are sweet if not ruthless when they let some things slip. Anyway wow what a ride, a lot of developments and bond growth...and a some hot smex, even if it there's interruptions that had me chuckling.

The characters are feeling more settled in my head, the character and world build strong. Allowing me to skip along my imagination without much prompt. New characters are introduced and relationships started.

(hoopla) DNF after 65%. This book has been 10% plot, 10% smut, and 80% self-loathing. Told from multiple perspectives of Sabrina and her seven mates. Every single one of them hates themselves and believes they make life worse for everyone around them... while everyone around them loves them and feels they are worth the world. It's depressing and it's not going anywhere. They're just constantly waffling on what to do. I have to stop for my own sanity.
Language isn't clean, but it's not too bad. There is some group intimacy, but no M/M as far as I read.

Pack Punished the 3rd book in The Thrown to the Wolves series and things become more difficult for Sabrina. Especially with the introduction of her fathers and all the complications that they bring. Also being in their pack the brought up plenty of unanswered questions and loads of secrets and lies. There is so much going on in this series that it definitely keeps you on toes and the plot twists are so bloody good. I can't wait for the final book now

OMG what a fab third book. Once again I found myself sucked into this world from where we left it in book two and it’s oh so good! It’s got such a dark and exciting storyline and is full of mystery and suspense to keep you guessing as we rejoin Sabrina and her guys. We do get some answers but are also left with so many more questions and with twists and turns to make your head spin, I am anxious for the final book!

I need the next book ASAP

I don't think I've ever wished for a book to come out fast. I need the next one in the series because I need to know what Ash is planning exactly for Sabrina and what he did to her.

This books starts right back where book 2 left off. We get more information about who Sabrina is and what her powers are. Her relationship with the guys progresses too, but it's not easy-they all need to come to terms with each other. It's a long journey for them, but I love how they are there for one another.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that book 4 comes out soon.

Have been enjoying this series, but I did battle with this book.

The amount of self deprecation and the size of the pity parties that the main characters threw….wowzers.
We get it. Everyone has demons. Everyone fucked up. Everyone clearly feels guilty for breathing. But sheeesh…do we need to read about how no one can function and everyone needs to prop everyone else up for 30% of the book? Nope. No we don’t.

I don’t feel like that much even happened in this book.
Basically, they leave their Shadow Range home and move to the mountains.
That’s kind of it.

The sex scenes felt gratuitous…and weird? I mean…there’s 7 guys. Good lord, you should be having a field day with writing how much hawt and dirty sex these characters are having. But alas. That’s not the case. It just felt awkward and hard to read.

I felt like the plot was incredibly weak. They were making out like certain situations were “huge”!!!! And I didn’t get it at all. The gravitas that was trying to be explained was lost, and the motivations behind everything seemed inconsequential to me to be honest. Meh.

Yeah, so anyways…not sure that I’ll read the last book, I sort of want to know what happens, but at this stage in a series, if I’m not chomping at the bit to read the final book? It’s not a great sign.

DNF 85% (I know, I'm a stubborn reader🙈)

I really tried to give a chance to this serie, I made it to the third book💪🏻 but now I don't have it in me anymore.
It's unnerving how the characters feel emotionnaly disconnected even they claimed being mates and in love. I don't really feel love here and how they keep questioning their relationship, fearing that Sabrina or her guys left is not understandable🧐 Come on, after three books we just expect that the harem would have settled, no???
There are still too many mysteries and not enough explanations as well. I needed more developments and soblost interest.
Sorry😕

Welp. I am done with this series. Started good, went off the rails. Nothing really for me to continue.

I feel like we stopped most character and relationship development somewhere in the second book. We went from a basic plot of the families not liking the hawthorn's to completely abandoning the entire story line and the whole pack to create a demon story line?

Nope.

Pack Punished is the third book in J. Kearston’s Thrown to the Wolves series. Book three picks up where book two left off, and the characters are really thrown into chaos with this installment. That being said, the story is interesting, but unfortunately the pacing, for me, makes it more than a little dull. This story focuses more on the emotions and feelings of the characters than them dealing with any immediate threats/dangers until much much later. While there are some interesting moments in the story it gets a big boggy for me.
Overall I have enjoyed reading this series, but I got a bit tired of shifting from one character to the next while they each shuffle through their personal emotional state and/or do mental battle with their other halves. One hand it’s interesting to learn a bit more about them, and to see them working through things. On the other hand it gets pretty tedious especially when the guys start becoming hard to tell them apart. They’re all still trying to do their personal measuring contests against each other – wanting to one up one another and/or getting rid of the one(s) they don’t like. Only a couple of them seem to really have a clue as to how that would make Sabrina feel and act accordingly.
It takes a good while to get there, but we do get some seriously steamy moments in this book. I like it overall, but I do feel that the guys need to be made to tone down the aggressive manhandling of her. I don’t mind some roughness, but in some moments I really do feel there are some moments where it’s a bit too much.
I like that we finally get some answers concerning Sabrina, but it takes forever to finally get there. If the pacing for this story had been a bit faster then the ending of this book would have been a serious cliffhanger. As it is, it’s kinda meh. I’m curious as to what is going to happen next, but I’m not chomping at the bit to get my hands on the next book either. Hopefully with most of the emotional drama out of the way the next book can have better pacing.
I’m rating this installment 4 out of 5 stars. The emotional baggage of all the characters is hard to wade through at times, and the story needed something to kick things into gear. This story has good moments, it really does, but the pacing just really dragged this book down for me.

If I felt like book 2 was all about the disconnect then book 3 was all about reconnection. The reconnection of them as people, with their wolves, with their families, and most of all with each other. For all book 2 lacked in the romantic aspects book 3 delivered, although the focus was more on the 'interloper' alphas rather than the wolves formerly known as Hawthorne.

I was happy to see them put all of their secrets from book 2 out there quickly, and whilst it was not without heartache, it didn't bring as much angst and emotional trauma as I'd anticipated, but rather was the catalyst for them finally starting a real relationship between them all with a clean slate. I loved that Sabrina put the blame firmly where it belonged on Ash's shoulders.

It was refreshing to see the Slaughters accept Sabrina wholeheartedly despite them being set up as villains and Sabrina finally getting parental figures who love her for who she is. Sabrina has a way to go, but I loved seeing her start to trust not only herself but her mates and go back to a stronger version of the Sabrina from book 1 rather than the hot mess she was in book 2.

This book was much more relaxed than the previous ones which was a nice change in tone from the frantic constantly panicked feeling of book 2, and it was great to see them let their guards down somewhere and just have fun and experience what it can be like to just be a mated team without the stress in the hotel pool.

It was also a good change of pace that it didn't end with some kind of battle or stand off but yet was still managed to be a shocking cliffhanger, setting up the final book.

I was intrigued by the shifter city and am guessing that it'll be the setting for the next series in this world with Raiden as one of the MMCs. I can't wait to find out more about him and the other shifters and I'm guessing and hopeful we'll see more of Carina and her sex shop.

This series just keeps getting better. J has absolutely killed it with this series and this book was no exception. It’s emotional, dark and gritty and I am 100% here for it. This book packs action, emotion and steam into a delicious packaged that you won’t want to put down.

Pack Punished picks up right where Pack Poisoned leaves off and it hits the ground running. You see the final events of the attack on the Alodia pack and the after math of everything that ensued during the battle. Leaving Sabrina and her mates to leave and pick up the pieces.

This book has a more emotional undercurrent than the previous books and really delves deep in to each character. We see old, rocky relationships reshaped and rebuilt as well a new relationships form. The emotions that come with all of this are heavy but it brings a new depth to each these characters. Making each one distinct and even more likable.

While bringing the emotions J also brings the steam and the comedy. Sabrina finds herself in some pretty hilarious situations in this book. It’s nice to see these characters have fun and laugh despite the heavy burdens put on them.

One thing I love about this author is she always keeps you guessing. You never know where her stories are going to lead and the ride is always wild. Punished is no different. You get answers to some dire questions but the hook at the end leaves you wanting more. I am so excited to see how the ride continues and how J wraps up this series with Pack Possessed.

J Kearston continues to add depth, deception and ugly truths to the dark and twisted world if this Thrown To The Wolves series. This maybe the third book in the series but its action packed and hits you hard.

Sabrina is pulled further into her own voyage of self discovery, finding out twisted truths about her Dads and her 'Mum' along with learning how disturbed her mates lives on murder mountain were, but she is also learning to understand how to handle everything she is. I absolutely adore Sabrina in this book her strength of character is astounding, she keeps trying, keeps pushing, keeps focused on wanting thing to be better to be more.

Hunter, Damien and Kaige have kept a devastating secret which could destroy everything they have fought for so far, they reveal the truth of murder mountains and their packs fights for survival, and show how they really will do anything for Sabrina. I love how the relationship at pack level develops with these three and Reed, Bo, Cinjin and Slade, how their dynamic changes as they work together.

This book will keep glued, it will take you on an emotional rollacoaster, filled with laughs and steam. J answers some questions but mostly drops a few bread crumbs still leaving you guessing.

This really is shaping up to be an amazing series.

Well....erm....that was a bit of a brain melt. I feel like I've absorbed a lot of information and haven't quite processed it properly yet. So many names and packs that I've had to jot down all the names as I've totally lost track who belongs to who and which pack (outside Sabrina's inner circle), lol.
There is so much going on and all the twists and turns just weave into each other. Just when you think you know what's going on, something comes out of the blue.
I love Sabrina's character, she maintained her quirky outlook and doesn't concede to the guys at all, but she also doesn't lord it over them eacher.
The guys are trying so hard but nothing seems to go right for very long, they are starting to learn how to work as a team, but there are so many things going on that they don't always get it right.
We get all the different POV from Sabrina and her guys, so you really do delve into everyone's own thoughts. Sabrina also has a habit of long monologues or long conversations with the guys so everything is explained.
I'm enjoying this series because it doesn't follow the usual shifter path, not all shifters are the same and everyone is out for themselves.
Now that last chapter...really opened up a whole new bag of worms!
Can't wait to see what happens next.

The third book in the Thrown to the Wolves series follows Sabrina through a lot of trouble and drama. Pack politics and battles take prominent places in the plot development, as much as the turbulent relationships between Sabrina and her men. The mistakes made are becoming quite obvious and harm has already been done. Secrets are being revealed that can completely turn the tides. New environment shows us a different side of the world building, bringing more understanding and showing a different picture of the pack life - observing these scenes puts things into perspective for sure. And as threats keep piling up and the pack is still somehow divided, it is a valid question to ask whether they can find a way to HEA.
I really appreciate the complexity of this book, whether it's the plot, world building, on the characters. They have all their unique personalities, with their own conflicts and opinions and motivations, and it feels natural watching them clash or align. The men in this RH setting certainly don't have it easy, especially in figuring out the dynamics of this RH relationship, but they are definitely giving it all they have. And I hope for everyone's sake it will work out until the end.

Murder Mountain 🐺
This third instalment of the series really focuses on the relationships between Sabrina and her wolfy hellhounds as well as the relationships between all of them! There’s some serious growth for a lot of them …. particularly the twins and Hunter 😁 it’s not all plain sailing for them especially as they begin to merge as one pack behind Sabrina but they’re definitely beginning to get through the worst of themselves to be better beasts for their mate 😍 there’s some great team building exercises- particularly the pool scene and definitely in the bedroom 🔥
The trip to murder mountain is fraught with tension as Sabrina goes to meet her dads who she suspects may have something to do with the whole wolf inducing serum: however they are beetroot not what she suspected at all, and throws even more doubt into Annika! 😬
Determined to destroy Acherons’s hold over her mates and the packs Sabrina keeps challenging and everything she thought she knew soon begins to unravel….. Kearston pulls of another info bomb that leaves you rattled!! Interesting to see where that takes the story!

Shifters-demons/RH/Instalove

SYNOPSIS (of 4 Book series): The FC rescues the sister of a 4 brothers from an attack. The brothers fall immediately for her but consider her a human. It transpires that she is, in fact, a wolf shifter. However she is not a normal wolf shifter as her wolf has unusual demonic traits. In this book the MCs can only begin shifting once they mate and as the brothers mate with the FC their wolves also turn out to have demonic traits. Female shifters are extremely rare and there are fights over them as a result. The series cover the FC trying to work out her history and why she is how she is. She did not get on with her mother who treated her abysmally and she left home as soon as she could. As the series progresses the FC finds her fathers and, when she goes to visit them, she finds out who she is and that her life was all part of a grand plan. During this she collects 3 more MCs to add to her harem. There's plenty of drama and intrigue and the story keeps moving to its ultimate climax and HEA.

The series was well written and an interesting take on the shifter universe. However, it wasn't for me and he story felt dragged out a bit. The basis of the story is that shifters are actually humans possessed by demons and this series does not therefore have the usual shifter dynamics and background. That didn't work for me. It had shades of J Bree's "Bonds" series in that each character had another "being" living within them and controlling their actions (or capable of doing so) and not in the usual wolf sharing a body way. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed J Bree's series I felt this one was too much of a twist on shifters.

The story was also a bit grim in that there seemed to be little real romance or lightness to it. Everything seemed to be doom and gloom even after the HEA. The climax, considering the story was dragged out over 4 books was a bit of a "blink and you'll miss it" as well as being facilitated by a late entry into the story who came out of nowhere to apparently save the day. Considering how complex and detailed the whole backstory was it seemed lazy for the author not to provide a bit more depth in closing out the story. Yet again, the villain did not really seem to get much comeuppance considering everything he had done.

Finally, for me 4 MCs is pretty much my limit in RH (which I enjoy). When you start to get up to 7 then I find the whole thing ridiculous so it was also too many MCs for my taste.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "PACK PUNISHED"
This is a wild intense emotional rollercoaster ride full of suspense, action, danger, angst, humor, lies, secrets, steam, mystery, betrayal, twists that have you glued to your seat.
Sabrina has so much pressure put on her from Damian, Hunter & Kaige to bring three packs together her other mates Slade, Bo, Reid, Cinjin, all feel like they've let her down especially after the attack at Alodia Mansion & the abominations they fought.
Sabrina learns a secret about Damian, Hunter & Kaige that could kill their bond she's extremely I happy her other mates don't know how to fix it she wants full disclosure no secrets if their going to try to make things works.
I definitely recommend to get this book follow Sabrina & her mates journey we learns more about each of them I'm so looking forward to the next book "PACK POSSESSED" to see the outcome of this amazing series after that cliffhanger need ASAP. AWESOME AWESOME READ!!!!
