Midlife can suck it. Ascending to Alpha of the Black Crater Pack of freaking werewolves wasn’t even remotely on my radar. I was just hoping the move to Oregon with my kids would mean less drama than dealing with the ex. Guess that didn’t work out.
Now, as it turns out, making friends in midlife is one giant pain in my backside. And believe me, I have enough aches and pains as it is.
While some of the pack is thrilled there’s a woman in charge, like the sexy guy I just can’t stop thinking about, there’s a vocal group who’d rather eat glass than see me succeed.
To top off my stressors, my seventeen-year-old son thinks he wants to be bitten, and this momma is ready to lose her sh—mind.
This new Alpha’s about to lay out some new ground rules, so suck it up, buttercup.

Our wonderful, charismatic and compassionate main character, Ella, is trying to come to terms with her new life as not only a werewolf, but also the Alpha of the Black Crater Pack. There is, of course, the added stress of having the gorgeous Stone around. Her whole body seems to react to him being near, his does too.
Ella also has to decide who to make her beta. Her final decision was inspired and a fantastic choice. But she can't make everyone happy, unfortunately. Other packs from outside Black Crater try to muscle in on Ella and the pack because she's not following normal 'wolf etiquette'. Dangerous tactics indeed. She's also making friends with the 'wrong sorts' but that's just the way she is. She's a very friendly soul.
Ella is going to be an unusual Alpha, and I, for one, am looking forward to reading more about her adventures as a snowy white moon werewolf. She is changing in many ways, particularly now as she is struggling to do her writing job. That never happened before she moved here. The words used to fly from her fingers, but now she just can't seem to get excited about erectile dysfunction...
I love the heroine and her kids. I love her pack and the secondary characters.
I went with three stars because the author chose this trope where the heroine almost finds out key info and then is interrupted. Her phone interrupted several times right as she neared some info she needed. Or she pushed off conversations or had a sudden need to be somewhere. It happened over and over so that it felt like a replacement for plot development. Like the author didn’t have enough to say and so put off the revealing of info for later to extend things.
And I hate that all the PWF books go soooooooo slow on the romance. They kissed softly in the first book. They made out and got cockblocked in the second book. And then they don’t even get to go on a date because…surprise…it’s interrupted.
I love this world. I want to keep reading it. But the interrupting thing has got to go.
AMAZING. STUPENDOUS. INCREDIBLE. I love this series so much! Ella is as much of a midlife divorcee hot mess as the rest of us and I am here for it. These characters are incredible and the world building is amazing. Ms. Andrews has a wonderful gift and all her stories suck the reader in and don't want to let them go. It's like needing to escape quick sand but you want to stay because it's the most perfect, amazing thing ever. And it spits you out anyway, but you're only sad that it's over because you want more. This series is well worth your time and money. It's definitely PG-13... I mean, there's nakedness, mild cursing, and kissing, but nothing super racy. I highly recommend it! This book is not a stand alone, but you won't regret reading book 1 either.
LOVE, love, loved this book!!! Our new alpha is just getting her feet wet in her role as leader. Yup that's putting it mildly 😉. All kinds of chaos ensues in this wonderful read. Buckle up for a wonderful ride filled with snark, action, heart, and all out brilliant characters. Prepare now for a cliffy that *may* leave you screaming for book three immediately and wanting to help out fearless MC smash a certain persons face with a 🍌pie 🙈. Get ready for a crazy adventure that leaves you wanting more in all the best ways!
I just finished Midlife Wolf Pack, and it was a blast!
Funny, action packed, great characters and some love on the side too. Elle, a female former human Alpha is coming to terms with her new role as pack leader. At the same time she is struggling with her feelings for Stone. A hot relationship awaits...
And in the meantime there are other pack leaders, other supernaturals, and the struggle to hold on to her job and protect her children. And just as it all comes together.. the book ends, with an enormous cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers, I want the next book! :)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book Book 2 in the series begins with Ella starting her new life as a pack alpha. Learning the role quickly because of other packs infringing on hers. She has to protect her friends and family. Ella is a great character. She's 42, divorced with 2 teenagers, and a sense of humor. She's someone you want as a friend. She's so real. And Stone is her distraction. There's a lot of action, suspense, and Ella's witty banter. Romance is in the air too. Just a great read. So what are you waiting for?
This was a really fun read. Ella is the new Alpha and she has no idea what is in store for her. Dealing with that would be enough but she also has teenagers to deal with and now she finds out all the other supernaturals are real as well. There is a lot for her to learn and she needs to learn fast. Ella is a great character, she stands on her own two feet and knows her mind. I am excited to see where this series goes. I think Jinx might just have stolen the show, that is one fabulous character.
Book two was even better then book one! And that’s saying something because book one was epic. We continue to follow Ella, as she learns how to be pack alpha. She has a few struggles in the way and one epic battle. I can’t wait to see where her relationship with stone ends up. Oh and by the way the ending ticked me off, but in a good way! I’m super excited for book 3.

Well I aboustly love Ella character she quirky witty and fantastic, after becoming alpha she's still finding her feet in this role as well as trying to be a mum and figure out her relationship with stone. Let's just say I think things are going to be done abit differently this time round and all for the better. This book was full of action drama aboustly loved it
I absolutely love the main character Ella she's snarky, caring but doesn't back down. She doesn't follow the rules because she doesn't know what they are. And with Ella what-you-see-is-what-you-get. I've got a feeling she's going to turn the whole werewolf pack upside down but first she's got to get them all to align with her. She hasn't chosen her mate yet so other packs start showing up to get her to mate or submit to their Alpha. Needless to say it full of drama, action and some fun and interesting times. This is a quick read, great for a relaxing evening, and sure to lift your spirits.
&First, a amazing read. Ella and stone, perhaps, destined to be together. From the Portland pack to the siege at the get together. The fight was incredible and well written, to the cliffhanger at the end.
Ella is learning about her pack and herself. She creates her 'management team' of Marta and Stone. Ella is making unlikely friends, in Alanna, Jinx and a tattoo artist. Some local packs are trying to make a move on the Black Crater Pack. Can Ella, Stone and Marta defend the Pack? Are she and Stone fated moon wolves? This is a fast-paced book that you can't put down. I can't wait to find out more in the next book.
I loved reading about second chances that have the added extra of a women being a alpha leader of a messed up wolf pack. It was just what I needed to forget all the bad I am dealing with right now.
It’s good to read a book where the MC is older especially in this genre. That’s what got me into this series and I am happy to stay that I have enjoyed this series so far. This second book of this series is great. You have comedy, action, romance that just builds up the storyline. The ending was kind of something that I thought may happen in the back of my mind or maybe it was just an idea in which the author set up but I am looking forward to seeing how that all turns out. So looking forward to reading the next book in series. I’m glad I didn’t give up after reading the first book. This second one is a lot better. Enjoy!
All through both books you get the feeling her ex was going to cause more problems. This lady deserves to be happy. Anxiously waiting for book 3 waiting to see her ex get just rewards. Looking forward to learn more about the new job. My Biggest concern Awaiting their ability to complete their bond.
That is my first reaction...I didn't even think twice, just grabbed this 2nd book in the series and promptly devoured it. Now, I have to wait. That is the only thing about this series that disappointed....having to wait. Carissa has tapped into the strong female psyche and our deepest strengths and desires. Very well plotted and written, I look forward to the next adventures.
With the first book I thought, that's a heck of an opening! And Carissa does it again :-O There are a couple new characters that I'm interested in, and I hope she brings them up in the next book. I really enjoyed learning about Ella's new town. And seeing the pack at work ... interplay ... hierarchy. I am truly captivated by this story and I really hope we get many more books!!! I highly recommend Carissa Andrews writing and her other stories! <3
The story continues as Ella makes sense of her new world and we're along for the ride, warts and all. This was a great follow up and can't wait for the next. Loved it!!
I have come to live these characters over the two books of this series. I’m so happy that there will be another book, yet I don’t want to wait. Oh the torture. This book had action, and character growth. It’s great to see Ella working things out and seemingly taking the stuff life throws her way in her stride.
Well to start off, wow! Absolutely hooked from page 1 and loved every minute. The characters are soo thoroughly detailed they jump off the page to life in your mind leaving you wanting more and more. With our main character Ella steadily getting into her new role of the first female alpha, there are a few who still aren't happy with the way she's handling things. With more bumps on the road with not knowing the supernatural rules, will she take it in her stride or will things fall apart.... Must read and find out
Book two and it’s every bit as good as the first book. The storyline draws you in and the world building is amazing. Action packed and full of adventure, Ella is a fantastic, sassy mc who you can’t help but be rooting for her. I mean she’s 42, divorced with 2 teenagers, she has a fantastic snarky sense of humour and she is still learning to not only be a werewolf but also a leader. It’s a great addictive story and a fantastic continuation of this series.
The more I read about these characters the more I love them. Turning in a werewolf is one thing but to become the Alpha..holy moly. Being a female alpha is even a bigger deal. This book had great side stories as we followed the main one of love and family. It’s funny, touching, scary and gets your heart pumping. You won’t be able to put it down. I received an advanced copy for my honest review.
Loving the follow-up, but come on!?! Cliffhanger?!? Ugh! LOL Really am enjoying this series and would have LOVED a whole LOT MORE. Maybe some steamy action, too? On to the next! #HappyReading ♥
This series, Accidental Alpha just keeps getting better. I fell in love with this series with the first book Midlife Wolf Bite but I will have to say that I loved the second book in the series Midlife Wolf Pack so much more. I am not sure how that is possible but it is. Carissa has outdone herself once again.
I felt a connection with the characters more this time around than the first. The action has ramped up even more. I was pulled in from the get-go. I was pulled in by the banter between Ella and her children, Asher and Avery. They cracked me up. I loved the relationship Ella has with her children.
Ella is a werewolf and the alpha of her pack. Ella is just as new at being a werewolf as she is an alpha or leader. She is in training for both I guess you could say. She has a hard road ahead of her as the new leader of a pack and being a woman is not going to help matters much as some of the pack is not too thrilled to be led by a female.
While Ella is out trying to get to know all of her pack members, learning how to be a leader and a werewolf, all of that is just the least of her worries at the moment because there is another pack trying to take over her territory.
This pack’s leader has gotten a good whiff of Ella and would like very much to claim her for himself and take over the pack at the same time I would imagine. Well, that is never going to happen if Ella has a say in the matter.
After that ending, I can’t wait for more. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series to see where that ending takes us and to know how Ella is going to handle this. I am full of anxiety and clenching my teeth with a big grin on my face over this one. Oh, and what does little miss Avery have up her sleeve with that little remark she made to her brother, Asher when he decided he wanted to be bitten? I can’t wait to find out.
I totally recommend Midlife Wolf Pack to anyone who loves a good werewolf story with lots of action and werewolf fighting. One-click your copy of Midlife Wolf Pack today! Trust me you will not regret it!
Well, the heroine went from average to annoying. As I mentioned in the review for the first book, her reactions make no sense to me. She became a werewolf and for a few weeks she doesn't learn ANYTHING about the supernatural? Really? how does that make sense in any way? Sorry, bye!
"Midlife Wolf Pack" finds our 40 year old main character, Ella, attempting to adjust to her new life as Alpha. It certainly isn't easy especially since she also has to go back to work and complete an article for her employer on a new ED drug.
Ella promised her daughter they would go to the movies and have girl time. However, before they can even get started a werewolf Alpha, Philip, comes into her territory and grabs her daughter. She is not pleased and let's him know. Soon, she discovered that Philip is actually a gentleman and looking to cement a partnership with her and take her as a mate. Ha! That's not going to happen at least not over Stone's dead body. He hasn't had a chance to let her know his intentions but he is not about to let some interloper take away his one chance at happiness.
Meantime, Ella, her Beta and Delta perform a ritual to cement the pack bonds. Also, Ella decides to hold a bbq for the 4th of July to rally the pack together and get to know them better. Asher is adjusting well to his mom's new status but Avery is struggling to sift through all of the emotional turmoil. Additionally, Ella is starting to make friends with non pack members in town and some of the pack is not too happy about it especially when she makes friends with a Chaos Demon. Oh, the fun times to be had.
There is a lot going on in this read but my favorite part was the cliffhanger ending. No, I will not tell you what it is. You will had to read this installment for yourself to find out. However, I will say that it sets up book three's plot nicely and I cannot wait to read it. I highly recommend this read if you haven't already put this series on your 'to read' list.
The first thing I want to say about this book is just like the first one I love the mental narration of the main character. The way she thinks is just I don't know kinda real if you ask me even though she's very open and accepting of things but hey I guess if I got bit by a werewolf and became alpha I would end up just going with it too which is something that I like about it because even though she's really accepting of the new crazy life she's settling into it's done in a way that doesn't make seem fake which yes we all love those books but sometimes you just want something that's a little more true to how a real person would respond in that kind of situation. You know. Which is why I'm giving it a good ten out of ten on the score board.
The plot was nice and easy to follow along with without falling short in my opinion. The romance was sweet to me I love Ella and Stone though I do wish that there was more of Stone interacting with the kids a bit but maybe that comes along later. Love the bond between Ella and her kids. Language wasn't too bad. If you're like me and don't particularly like a lot of language, I found that it wasn't too heavy, so I didn't mind it as much.
Bottom line if you're looking for a good werewolf book with a more mature edge too it so far this series is one, I would recommend.
I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one. Ella is facing discontent within the pack, and outright threats from outside of the pack. In this book, she is doing her best to firmly but kindly handle her new pack, protect her kids and help them deal with the stunning new world they are privy to, and rise up and battle a true risk to both the pack and the family she loves. I see some complaints in other reviews about the cliff hanger, but all I want is to get to that next book, which fortunately, releases soon! If you like mature main characters with strengths and flaws, fantasy, and werewolves, you'll enjoy this series. Start with Midlife Wolf Bite to get the back story on the events and characters of this book. I'm hooked!
