Jenna spent her entire life wanting to travel to new star systems…
...now she has, and it’s likely to be the death of her.
When a Tagrale activated in the Sironus system for the first time in thousands of years, Jenna sent her ship through... despite the ship being sabotaged, those who wanted her dead having just gone through, and having no idea at all where it would take her.
It was an impulsive decision, one she may regret it for the rest of her life… which might be much shorter than she’d always expected. Unless she can survive the Desolate Stars!
At last! The story continues! Okay, it has taken the author a little while to get here, and I read over the first book again before I started this one, to get everything back into my mind. I’m so glad we finally have continued the story, as it is a really good one, deserving of the reader’s attention. I love that the main protagonist is a female pilot, and things really develop well in this second book of the series. I wasn’t terribly in favour of the cliffhanger ending to the last book, but now we are ‘on the other side’ of that, it means the story really gets cracking and drops us straight into action (hooray!) with plenty of twists to keep our attention. I love this world and the characters, and hope that there will be less of a gap before the next book! I really enjoyed reading it, the author is very good at describing things so they are easy to imagine. I recommend this series to any sci-fi lovers!
When we left our heroine, Jenna was stranded on a sabotaged spaceship, about ready to self-destruct. She called her IT department and they told her to turn it off and on again. Well, almost. The ship was ready to blow up, and her only option was to wipe, then re-install the operating system, which as only supposed to be done in port on an unoccupied ship.
The mystery of the Tagrales, similar to hyper-portals, continued as she encountered more in her effort to return to the Sironus system. The encounters along the way were each interesting and unique.
The wait for Vol 2 in the series was rather long, I needed to go back and read the last couple chapters to pick up the story line. This book ends nicely, rather than the irritating, abrupt cliff-hanger of the first one.
With any luck, we will have more chapters soon. The imagination boggles where she will turn up next.
