It was only after Jian Xingsui’s death that he realized that he was the cannon fodder in a book with a dog-blooded plot. He was a dumb and s*upid fake young master in it.
In the book, he was reluctant to return to his poor ”biological” parents. He was greedy of the Jian Family’s wealth and also wanted to suppress the protagonist shou of the book, the real young master. With the tricks that he had personally thought out of his pig-headed brain, he finally succeeded in making everyone in the family annoy the hell out of him:
His former CEO elder brother: “I don’t have a younger brother like you.”
His former star second brother: “Never mention to anyone in the entertainment industry that I used to be your brother!!!”
His former father: “Get out, I’m so disappointed in you.”
After that, he was kicked out of the house and had a terrible ending.
After the rebirth, just when it was the day when the protagonist shou came up to his door, instead of waiting for his family to talk to him, he took the initiative: “You guys won’t have to say anything, I am willing to leave the house!”
Mmmm 🙃
This book was pretty fun but brainless. I agree with what everyone else said regarding how the qualities of the first half of the story is better than the last half. I found the non-main story extras pretty cute, but otherwise, the end was a bit brainless and mindlessly fluffy.
There's a huge change in the character of the Mc from what you expect. He's depicted as rebellious and unreconciled in his first life, beaten down and unloved during the first bit of his rebirth, but towards he end, he's converted into a nauseating, helpless white lotus. I failed to see the progression of continuity between any of these personalities. It doesn't really feel like even the same person.
Then there's the ml. He's very stereotypical - a prince-to-the-rescue, cold-to-everyone, perfect-but-with-scars-only-the-mc-can-heal. He's so prefect, but it's slowly revealed how much he struggled and how the Mc (unknowing to the ml) was there for him every time he struggled. The confusing part is that the ml falls in love with the Mc without knowing about all his support. It feels like he just falls for the Mc because he is a fan and cute. If that's the case, shouldn't be have fallen for another fan much earlier?
Despite these issues, I thought the novel was very cute. It drew me in at the beginning, and the end had just enough acton so that I didn't get too bored from the lily white Mc.
Although the story didn't exactly follow the description, it was still quite close. It's indeed quite dramatic/ dog-blooded with the child switching story and how dumb/ narcissistic the antagonists were. But I do enjoy the face-slapping and just desserts served to antagonists. I felt the Jian family could have been written to be more pathetic though.
MC and ML do have fluffy interactions pretty early on in the novel, but they don't get together till pretty late in the novel. I like how both MC and ML are not "love at first sight" types. Their love for each other is with reason/ gradual. Their interactions are super sweet, with ML being proactive and MC being super attentive.
It's a little funny how ML is called film emperor so often in the novel, but the novel does not delve into his film history (we only get to read about 1 work...) I guess the title is just to express how he has good acting skills?
I would say the novel has relatively lesser Romance scenes/ chapters as compared to the showbiz scenes. My favourite parts of the novel are MC growing to be more confident as he gets more love from the people around him, as well as reading about the familial love showered by his biological family. It's super sweet! Poor second brother is verbally abused by his family, but it may be because he's kind of a troublemaker?
Some plot holes (not major, just minor details):
Overall, I really enjoyed the novel, and I was pretty hooked on reading it. There was lots of fluff and love between MC and ML and between MC and his family. The extended families were a bit too idealistic and peaceful, but I guess if they were messy/ greedy the novel would be so much longer. It's a pretty good read. 3/5 may read again?
nothing better than a public social execution for assholes. its a go with the flow type of revenge book read so if you just wanna read about people getting what they deserve its not bad. of course, with books of this genre its not exactly like a magnificent masterpiece with fully fleshed characters and a holeless plot or anything. at the end of the day its definitely a Mary Sue type.
basically if you enjoy face slapping it's solid. though Su Anran's punishment (the main antagonist) it was well okay?
Ngl, it kind of irk me of the author’s obsession to Jiang’s surname. But in anycase, this novel started out good actually…like until 40ish chapters but then it went downhill
First of all, yeah I know it’s novel, but like come on? Of all millions people in the world the mc’s real family could notice him?
And then — I’m super confused with the baby’s trading. Basically MC —> jiang family Jiang baby —> zhang’s family Zhang’s baby dead —> mc’s family
Hmm okay… wonder why
And then if it’s not weird, the paternity test! Idk, I’ve been waiting forever but the shen (mc’s family) DIDN’t MENTION ONCE ABOUT THE PATERNITY TEST AFTER TAKING IT?? LIKE DUDEEE, if I can use my instinct like that then I’d be billionaires
Anyway, after that there are some plotholes that I just can’t.
Usually for me the ending can justify the means? But unfortunately even the ending can’t save it. I gave this 3 stars purely for the good translators and the 40 chapters good story in the beginning — otherwise, I won’t suggest reading this ngl

This is another reincarnation novel. Jian Xingsui died and realized that he's just a villain cannon fodder on a book. On this life he just wants to break free from his past life and live freely.
Our ML is Xingsui's idol from his past life. The romance is cute but a bit bland on some parts. I love how the story started but the latter chapters felt long and made me a bit frustrated with the pacing.
The secondary characters are okay. I love the MC's real second brother. He is very blunt but very funny. He's a scene stealer.😆
its great! i usually read the works with strong willed MC but im glad i decided to read this, it is satisfying and the story is very well written. it is realistic and make sense how the background and upbringing of the MC made him that way-low self confidence. and i felt sad for that, thankfully MC got his well deserved happy ending <3
I loved it! The growth of the MC, his doting family and the relationship with the green forest ML were *chef’s kiss* A lot of fluffy scenes, moderate amount of face slapping and some of the feels for the adopted families balance everything out
The Mc is reborn and gets a second chance to find love. The love of his idol(Superstar ML) and that of family. This a light angsty tale of a rich young master switched at birth who finds his rightful place in this life.
This is not too bad. It is fluffy but flat overall. I feel like the MC's character in his first life is inconsistent with the one we witness after rebirth. You can look forward to him being a sweet innocent teddy bear Gary Stu White Lotus green tea type.
This ultimately was not my cup of tea but it has enough sugar to pass the time even if I dropped it before the romance could truly take off. I was more interested in the family and friendship aspect. If I was new to reading these kinds of novels I maybe might have been invested in the romance enough to keep reading although unlikely.
