I don't like change. That's fine, because I, Tori Hayes, am quite content with my single status and fulfilling sales career. I'll make an exception and step out of my comfort zone to be a part of my college bestie's wedding party. Anything for a friend, you know?

But this—this is not what I thought it would be. Suddenly, I'm thrown into drama that only a Southern belle bride and her friends can stir up. The secrets, the lies, the deception—it's more than I can take. Not to mention that groomsman Tyler, who seems to know exactly how to push my buttons.
I don't like my buttons pushed. Or maybe I do.

Dashing groomsmen aside, why do I keep finding myself in the middle of all this madness? I want to support Caroline and give her the perfect day, but things are getting messy and fast. Is there going to be a happy ending amid all this chaos?

It Could Happen by Melissa Baldwin is a contemporary romantic comedy about Tori Hayes, a single, career-focused sales rep who hates change but accepts a bridesmaid invitation from her college best friend, only to be swept into dramatic pre-wedding chaos, intricate friendships, and a slow-burn attraction to a groomsman named Tyler who seems to push every one of her buttons as the wedding weekend unfolds. It blends wedding party drama, personal growth, and a touch of romantic tension in a light, humorous, feel-good story.

From the moment I stepped into Tori’s shoes, I felt the nervous excitement of being pulled out of a comfortable routine and dropped into the whirlwind world of Southern weddings, where hair and heels are high and emotions run even higher.

Tori’s career confidence and frank inner voice made her instantly relatable, especially as she navigated not only bridal party dynamics but those moments where your heart starts asking questions you did not expect. What delighted me most was how the slow-burn tension between her and Tyler felt like waves: gently building, cresting at just the right moments, and always leaving me eager to see what happened next.

The wedding party’s secrets, misunderstandings, and over-the-top planning added a delicious dose of chaos and humor that had me chuckling and sighing in equal measure, even as I rooted for Tori to find both a deeper friendship and something tender with Tyler.

The enemies to lovers label isn’t as sharp here as in higher-conflict romances, the playful banter, evolving connections, and moments of heartfelt support made this feel like a perfect pick for anyone craving a warm, character-driven rom-com where change just might be the best thing that happens.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
This book made me feel genuinely delighted and invested in Tori’s journey, its blend of humor, heart, and slow-burn romance left me smiling long after I finished, though I sometimes wished for even deeper emotional beats in the connection between Tori and Tyler.

If you love wedding chaos, slow-burn feelings, and characters learning to grow beyond their comfort zones, this is a cozy, uplifting read you will cherish.

I wouldn't quite say this was an "enemies" to lovers romance, but it was a fluffy and cheesy kindle romance read on my phone whenever I had downtime to burn - mostly on the boat fishing - (thus the long time it took to finish). I liked the no-nonsense personality of Tori's character, who was asked to be a bridesmaid in her college friend's wedding. A LOT of silly drama ensues and Tori falls for one of the groomsman, HEA, the end.

The problem was more mine than the book. The problem with picking books without reading the blurb is that sometimes you go in for (not) a treat.

I cannot relate at all with all the fuss that goes around american wedding planning. It's way too much for a single day, and I have no patience. As this book is totally related to a wedding, they lost me there.

It had funny moments, and was generally entertaining, especially if you are into those kind of things.

Melissa Baldwin never fails to disappoint and is an absolute fave of mine. There is nothing of hers I've not loved.

With every book I read, I enjoy a trip to the States. I can picture everything that happens within the pages and the characters feel like they are friends I've known forever.

Another 5⭐️ read from Melissa.

I stopped reading somewhere in the middle of this book. There is not one personality in this whole story, it felt like reading about puppets.

also, really?

“Ah, a mama’s boy,” I say knowingly.

“My mom is my best friend.”

Damn. There’s another thing to make him more attractive.

In general a good read and I also loved the fact that I was able to finish it in 3 days despite my slow reading pace. I wasn't a fan of the negativity and drama though, but I knew what I was getting into based on the intro of the book.

Another author has won me over. Ms. Baldwin knows how to write drama which includes a wedding party with hurtful secrets and good old-fashioned competition for a new job promotion. Imagine having to deal with both when you hate change.

Tori is thrilled to be invited to her college roommate's wedding. They haven't seen each other for years, but true friendship doesn't let time or distance get in the way of that one special bond.  After all, Tori was there when Caroline and Andy first met. Even though Tori is the outsider in the wedding party, her confidence and goodwill win over the crew with the exception of one of the bridesmaids. There is also an annoying and pompous groomsman who is insistent on winning Tori over after an aggravating first meet. Keep dreamin' buddy...though he is sort of cute.

Tori and Tyler's slow-burn attraction is pleasant though I would have loved to have seen more of it.  I think there needed to be more interaction and deeper conversation between Tori and Leslie to give the story more depth. Though Tori doesn't like change, she is very assertive and not afraid to stand up for herself. I like how she doesn't allow Leslie to ruffle her and shakes off her nasty remarks. As a good friend, Tori's first priority was to make sure Caroline's wedding preparations ran smoothly considering two of the wedding party were cheating. It took some time to warm up to Tyler. He was too cocky and arrogant for my liking and he needed to just tell Leslie to beat it. In the end, the girl got the guy while the bitchy bridesmaid got the bouquet. The book is touted as a romantic comedy and it is funny in some spots, but I consider it to be more like women's fiction than comedy.

I liked Caroline and Andy who appreciated Tori's mature advice and solid friendship while dealing with the whole groomsmen/bridesmaid fiasco.  Andy's groomsmen, Matt and Clint were also enjoyable, but unfortunately, some of the bridesmaids needed to grow up. Tori's work colleague. Parker, also seemed a bit immature as she drooled over the new guy at work, but she did give Tori some good advice about taking risks.

If you like fast-paced wedding drama with a slow-burn romance, give this book a try.

Thank you to Ms. Baldwin for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

This is a clean romance. Actually, it is more a work advancement mild drama and a wedding party relationships drama. It opens with the potential for the head of sales retiring and the emotions over who will replace him. That stays mildly in the background. More of the focus is on that person’s college roommate contacting her to be in the bridal party for an extremely large and over-the-top wealthy Georgia wedding with pre-wedding months of activities in Florida. The bride and groom are fine, there’s an affair amongst the bridal party … and then a bridesmaid trying to claim a groom that is attracted to the female lead. It held my interest in making me glad I wasn’t part of it. There is a point where the wedding party suddenly decides to do a 3 day Bahamas cruise. The author doesn’t know enough about cruising to get the information correct which was a bit irritating to this cruises often reader. Overall more drama than romance.

It was annoyingly written in present tense. I guess it was supposed to be a literary device but it felt like a high school novel. Also, I kept waiting for the romance but it never happened.

“It’s amazing how quickly life can change when you least expect it.”
Tori Hayes does not like change and that’s fine because she is content with her single status and fulfilling sales career. Tori makes an exception and steps out of her comfort zone to be a part of her college best friend’s wedding party. But it is nothing like she thought it would be. She is suddenly thrown into the type of drama that only a Southern belle bride and her friends can create. The secrets, lies and deception are more than Tori can take. And as if that wasn’t enough the groomsman, Tyler, appears to know how to push all her buttons. And if there's one thing Tori knows… she doesn’t like her buttons pushed… or does she? Tori can’t understand why she keeps finding herself in the middle of all this madness when all she wants to do is support Caroline and give her the perfect day. Will there be a happy ending amid all this chaos?
I am in love with romantic comedies! I really loved this book because it was an amazing concept. I loved the idea of friends that haven't been super close and all of a sudden she is invited into this friendship group that is well established to be a part of the wedding. The whole wedding was a complete cluster! I mean the drama between these people was hilarious. We have Leslie who is so obsessed with Tyler that she is instantly against Tori. The drama that unfolds and the secrets that exist in this group really create some intense situations. One of the bridesmaids has a huge secret that could ruin the entire group!
I liked that Tori wasn't looking for any relationship and it just kind of happened. I don't know that I agree with it being an enemies to lovers trope for me. It seemed more like two strangers becoming friends. I think it was a cute story and had some laugh worthy moments but I would have appreciated a bit more romance I think, or a stronger enemies narrative. I think Leslie and Tori were more enemies than Tyler and Tori. It was very much a slow burn romance narrative. For me the best part of this narrative was the moments that reminded me of the movie Bridesmaids. I really did enjoy this one because it was well written and fast paced and all the circumstances were incredibly funny.

It Could Happen is the second book I have reviewed by Melissa Baldwin after On the Road to Love, and both books were fun and enjoyable.

It Could Happen is such a fun novel! I love the hot pink cover and I adored the bridesmaid wedding favor pack, it was so thoughtful and imaginative.

I loved the way this was written in first person and present tense propelled the plot forward, and I loved all the wedding planning and attention to detail in every setting and outfit

Melissa Baldwin's writing style reminds me of Candace Bushnell's, and I like her books. In fact, I half expected Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Charlotte and Miranda to turn up at the wedding.

Tori is a great character, so honest and observant. She really is an open book, and I loved how she was open about what she saw, thought and felt. I liked Caroline and thought she was a good friend. It was fun meeting all the other bridesmaids and each was a well-fleshed-out character. There are people who got on and others who didn't.

I wasn't sure about what I thought of Tyler

I didn't have many guests at my wedding, but this novel took me back to my special day. Melissa Baldwin captures the excitement and trials and tribulations of wedding planning and I was so much wanting to know what was going to happen.

The romance is slow burn. It Could Happen is a quickly-paced and realistic novel and it's perfect for those who are married, as well as those who have never been married but who love a good romcom.

I actually didn't find thislaugh-out-loud funny, but it was very realistic. Some things, good and bad, that could happen at a wedding, do happen.

Thanks to Melissa Balwin and Rachel's Random Resources for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

I love when books are fun and this one is just that. It is my first by the author and I will tell you that I am hooked! I will say the detail on the wedding planning was more than I’ve ever read in other books but it did nothing to take away from the storyline. It added something special to it in my opinion.

Tori is an awesome character who is refreshingly an open book. I love that she doesn’t say she’s an open book only for us to discover that she isn’t. She is totally an open book. She’s the kind of friend that you want because she will tell you like it is.

Tyler was also a pretty great character. I wasn’t sure if I liked him or not at first but he grew on me. It wasn’t really anything he did, it was more of me just not feeling him at first. By the end though I was feeling him more.

This was certainly a funny book but not one that had me laughing out loud and people staring at me like I lost my mind. The wedding was amazing and I really felt as though I was a part of it. The storyline was much more realistic and something I could see happening rather than a fairytale that leaves you thinking “Yeah right!”

As I said, I loved this book and will certainly be checking out others from the author.

Sometimes, it takes the person who is on the outside looking in to really see things for how they are. Tori was an excellent example of that. When she participates in bestie Caroline’s pre-wedding festivities, she discovers a lot of drama and potential chaos that threatens to create a mess for Caroline. I felt like the scenarios that were put in place to show that did a great job of continually heightening the experience, so even when I was on an even keel with Tori, just trying to relax and enjoy what’s going on around me, I kept waiting for that other shoe to drop–and boy, did it!

Along for the ride were Tori’s mixed feelings towards Tyler. She doesn’t know if his behavior is genuine, particularly with another bridesmaid in the mix who is doing everything she can to catch Tyler’s eye. Is he interested in Tori, or in someone else? I liked the quick banter and obvious attraction that is there between Tori and Tyler. It flowed well and never felt forced. Plus, there was no delineation from who Tori is as a character. As described in the synopsis, she’s the type to stick with what she knows and not often stray outside the box, which added even more to the potential budding romance she suddenly finds herself in.

I also questioned the happy ending, and if it would happen, not only for Tori but for Caroline. I couldn’t help but feel for Caroline, along with some of the other bridal party members who become part of the drama. It was hard not to feel close to the characters and get emotionally invested. But a big part of It Could Happen is evolution and change, and seeking the lesser known path.

What I loved most were the threads of friendship–old and new. Tori honors her friendship with Caroline, but she discovers new ones along the way, too. It Could Happen really was an enjoyable, five-star experience!

Meh

This is my first novel by Melissa Baldwin. While I didn't hate this book, I didn't really love it, either. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about a "slow burn" romance, but when the book is 90% over before anything really romantic happens, it's just too little, too late. Not only that, the chemistry between Tori and Tyler was lukewarm at best. A romance can be completely clean and still have sizzle, and this just didn't have it. This book is also pegged as an " enemies to lovers" romance, which is another favorite trope of mine, but it failed to deliver there, as well. Although their first meeting involved Tori feeling frustrated with Tyler, I would hardly call them enemies. So again, the connection was lukewarm all around, both when they didn't really like each other and when they did. The main problem that the characters needed to solve was between side characters, and Tori and Tyler were bystanders who weren't very affected by it. There were other, smaller issues for the characters to work through, like Tori having some competition for Tyler's affection and for a work promotion. But overall, there just wasn't enough going on to really care about rooting for these characters. Melissa isn't a bad writer, and I might be willing to try one more of her books, but this one didn't do it for me.

I loved this! It is billed as romantic comedy and it is indeed funny in places. It is about friendship and meeting new people and finding love where you least expect it. It is an easy light hearted read. Perfect for a summers afternoon in the garden and if you have a glass of wine in your hand so much the better.

I had so much fun reading this book! It's full of drama and shenanigans in the best way, because you know everything is going to be alright in the end. In a nice twist, the bride (and her mom) are the opposite of bridezillas, but her wedding party has tension from the get-go. The friend group seem like a powder keg and this wedding is the spark ready to blow up in their faces.

Tori is such a fun POV character - her outsider status gives her a unique perspective on the others in the group and she and Tyler have the best banter, even if she takes a startlingly long time to realise it's flirting. She is also facing upheaval at work and the chats with her work bestie provide a nice counterpoint to the slowly-imploding wedding party. I loved how she stood up for herself both personally and professionally!

Grab some popcorn and dig in, because this is the wedding of the century if they can get everyone down the aisle!

"You never know what the future holds"
Sometimes you just need to be bold
And give yourself a different chance
Maybe that's when you'll find romance?

I read this brilliant romantic comedy today
And there's one thing I have to say
It is such a fun read
I hope it is a book you'll also need!

Tori Hayes is shocked when her friend
A surprise present to her did send.
With wine and chocolates and an invitation, too,
Be one of her bridesmaids - Woohoo!!

There's drama a plenty as the story is told
With cheating, lies and a groomsman who is bold!
There's also office drama and new posts to fill
If only Tori dare . . . perhaps she will!

New friends to make or people to hate?
Secrets to be kept - or revealed before it is too late?
Decisions to make or just trust in fate?
Could it all work out if you just wait?

A great, fun read with characters who
Continue to develop all the way through.
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
It's a brilliant romcom and this is my honest review.

Tori is a bridesmaid at her friend Caroline's wedding and one of the groomsmen Tyler really knows how to push all her buttons and along with all the secrets and lies this makes one bumpy ride.

This is the type of book that reminds me why I love reading. It was a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable read, I fell straight into the story and didn't have to think much, I just kicked back and enjoyed.

It is very character driven and I swooned over Tyler, I am in awe over how much I love this authors writing style and I praise it highly . In this book there is a wedding, love, friendship, cheating, lies, secrets, enemies and a whole lot more. If you are after a book where you don't have to think and can just relax then I suggest you get this! Also I think it would be the perfect book to get you out of a reading slump. Okay I'll be honest, I just think it is the perfect book. I could not put it down and read the whole thing in a few hours.

a wedding overflowing with drama

When Tori Haynes accepted the invitation from a friend she has fallen out of touch with she accepted gladly. Little did she know the drama that would entail or expect to meet a man who was instantly attracted to. Wedding drama immediately began with a group chat with all the women in the wedding party. It was immediately this was a much bigger deal than expected and would involve many activities with a group of people she had never met. But Caroline is a good friend and she wants her to be happy on her wedding day. Another thing she didn’t expect was Tyler. Handsome and very confident it was difficult to tell if her was flirting or just full of himself. This is easy to read. Although there are a lot of characters involved I had no problem keeping track of who was who. The writing was easy to follow. I recommend if for nothing else the overblown antics of the wedding party.

A wedding and its preparations, not only filled with love, but lots of drama…
Tori is a bit surprised when her friend Caroline asks her to be one of the bridesmaids at her wedding. Tori knew she would get an invitation, but she is honoured to discover how important she still is for Caroline.
With being part of a squad now, Tori’s calm life is quickly switched into a chaotic one. She finds herself dragged into lies, secrets and deception, things that makes her long for her unchanging, unexcited life.
And then there is Tyler, who just keeps pushing her buttons and irks her. But Tori will do whatever she can so that Caroline has the perfect wedding, even enduring all the unexpected drama that occurs before the ‘I Do’…
There are characters in books that you can easily relate to. And for me, it was so easy to relate to Tori, even if being both single isn’t the only thing.
I could completely understand why Tori isn’t a fan of changes. If something is going well, why change anything? She enjoys being single, and she knows that one day she will meet the right man. So why bother with looking around every corner if you can find him?
Also she enjoys her job, so why should she think about stepping up when the opportunity arises?
I also understood easily how especially Tyler is the person to push Tori outside her comfort zone. Their first meeting was hilarious to read, bickering about how to park a car! Of all the things they could start bickering about, it was about parking!
It was also funny to read how stubbornly neither one of them would give in and how this event would turn into a recurrent joke between time.
I had the best of time reading the constant bickering and banter between Tori and Tyler, but I also found it utterly sweet to read how (very) slowly Tori starts to realize that she was very prejudiced towards Tyler and she didn’t see the man he truly is, a man that can even enjoy a game of bingo!
But there is so much drama in this book, on a level I couldn’t imagine…  We know from the blurb that something big is going to happen, but I didn’t expect it to be so big and that it would affect so many parties…
Yet I admired Tori and how she kept her head cool. It is not easy to be the newcomer in a close group of friends, yet her being ‘the new girl’ makes her see obvious things that are invisible for the other girls.
Tori not only steps outside her comfort zone, but she also discovers that doing the unexpected give you more insight of yourself. And seeing Tori doing the unexpected and grows more and more confident during this story, was great to read!
But through Tori we also understand again how important friendships in our lives can be. It’s not because you don’t see each other every day, that you aren’t important for your friend. However, this story shows also how hurtful it can be to be betrayed by your close friends…
This book was such an easy, funny, great read, it took me on a journey filled with laughs and gasps. But also it took me on a journey to show the importance of honesty, friendship and love. And a reminder that even the most unexpected could happen when you least expect it!

A fun, rom com that had me laughing out loud.

This was quite the adventure! I wasn't sure what to expect from this author, but I loved this story. The spark between Tori and Tyler brings the romance to life. The ensemble cast is well fleshed out which can be a challenge. The author avoids some of the more annoying pitfalls like over the top clutziness by the female love interest or constant misunderstandings and fits of jealous rage. The interactions seemed authentic and believable. The meet cute was adorable. I will definitely read more from this author. I love finding more sweet romance writers to follow.

Thank you so much Melissa Baldwin and Rachel’s random resources for gifting me a digital copy of ‘It Could Happen’ in exchange for an honest review. Weddings are renowned for having lots of drama and subplots that are hidden just under the surface and Melissa Baldwin covers a lot of them in this book with affairs and new romances between a group of old friends and the meeting of a new bridesmaid to shake things up its definitely an experience none of them will forget. I thought this book had some great components and I enjoyed the relationship between Tori and Tyler and how that evolved through the book and the friendship between Parker and Tori was lovely to read.

Tori has been invited to her college roommate’s wedding, but soon she is thrown into the chaos and the drama and a groomsman who may be flirting with her.

This was a really fun novel, and I loved the character of Tori, who was strong and independent throughout. I did struggle slightly with some of the bridesmaids but I think they were meant to be a little immature to show the contrast between the main character.

This novel is written in first person, through the eyes of Tori, which worked really well, and I enjoyed the chapters with Tori’s work colleague Parker who broke up some of the scenes.
This was my first read by Baldwin and I will happily read this author again.

Now we all know I love a good romance, so of course when I saw this book I just knew I had to read it 😂 I adore the cover and it just sounded so fun.

I really enjoyed the plot of the story, it was actually really nicely paced and took slow burn to a whole new level 😜 But it was good and very realistic, I loved imagining it all playing out while reading.

I did struggle with some of the writing though, I feel like there was sometimes too much explaining going on, like things pointed out which to me didn't seem necessary. Other than that I really enjoyed it and would love to read more books by Melissa in the future.

Disappointing

It didn't take long to realize this was not a romantic comedy. I don't think I even had a sudden smile. I finished the book, I guess I kept thinking it would get funny. I think it could have been a sweet romance. The characters were ok. I liked Tyler best but also wanted to shake him at times because he didn't tell one girl that he wasn't interested in a relationship with her while totally confusing the one he was interested in. Mark this as not my cup of tea!!

It Could Happen is a cute novel. Filled with drama, frenemies, and a slow-burn romance, what's not to love?!

The book is more contemporary romance with some humor tossed in but I was still engaged in the story and invested in the characters. This is the first book I've ready by Melissa Baldwin, and it wont' be the last. I love the characters, how the author developed them, the setting, the chaos, and the romance.

The author wrote a realistic novel with likable characters. The story is fast-paced and enjoyable.
