Soft dnfing this story for now, the rating goes for the first 50% I've read.
This is a book about four unique characters grouping up to investigate tombs, each of their adventure has us meeting new minor characters who have their own fascinating stories. Unfortunately and this might be partly due to the slump I fell into this month, I'm having a really hard time connecting to the story. Adding to that, sure the first 10 or so chapters included a trope I don't particularly like (the love interest is introduced to the story as a child when the mc is already an adult), but it's only a really small part of the book, even though it's been referenced to from time to time. I think my main issues come from 1) reading this story in English, I don't think the translation is bad, but the numerous cultural and religious references make the job a lot harder for fan translators and therefore the writing style comes off a bit stiff and even though I'm interested in what's being told I'm left a bit confused and detached from it all. 2) I also believe this type of story is just not what I'm looking to read in the moment. I'm only soft dnfing because I can see myself picking it up in the future !
