Boston born and bred, Kathleen O’Connor knows all about toughness. Thanks to her pop, she can bend scrap metal. Thanks to her seven older brothers, she's not scared to fight for what she wants. And thanks to her exes, she's wise to the illusion of happily ever after. Toughness comes easy to Kathleen, and so does bending tough materials into art.
Now a rising metal sculptor, Kathleen is headed to the picturesque Irish countryside to make her biggest installation yet. Knowing the town’s history, she expects a challenge at the art center. A guy even tougher than the boys back home and more unbendable than tungsten? She never saw that one coming.
Declan McGrath may be the small town butcher who sneaks extra bacon to the townfolk in need and a man who’ll drop anything for a friend in need. But make no mistake, he's all edges and sharpness. A past heartbreak has walled him off from what he once thought he wanted. Until he meets Kathleen.
Kathleen has always known how to coax a masterpiece from hardness, and once she knows Declan's heart, she can't turn away. Hiding behind the surly butcher, there’s the most unexpected of Prince Charmings. Only, if her walls were fortified, his are absolutely impenetrable.
But she’s not scared of a fight, and Declan is a man to fight for. And with the help of a matchmaking ghost and the wonderful village of Caisleán, the luck of the Irish may be on her side.
Millions of readers have discovered International Bestselling Author Ava Miles and her powerful fiction and non-fiction books about love, happiness, and transformation. Her novels have received praise and accolades from USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly, and People Magazine in addition to being chosen as Best Books of the Year and Top Editor’s picks. Translated into multiple languages, Ava’s strongest praise comes directly from her readers, who call her books and characters unforgettable.
Ava is a former chef, worked as a long-time conflict expert rebuilding warzones to foster peaceful and prosperous communities, and has helped people live their best life as a life coach, energy healer, and self-help expert. She is never happier than when she’s formulating skin care and wellness products, gardening, or creating a new work of art. Hanging with her friends and loved ones is pretty great too.
After years of residing in the States, she decided to follow her dream of living in Europe. She recently finished a magical stint in Ireland where she was inspired to write her acclaimed Unexpected Prince Charming series. Now, she’s splitting her time between Paris and Provence, learning to speak French, immersing herself in cooking à la provençal, and planning more page-turning novels for readers to binge.
The next in the series focuses on Kathleen, metal sculptor from Boston, and Declan, the Irish town butcher. It also describes boxing matches, a "sport" of which I am not a fan. Declan and Kathleen seem like an unlikely pair, but in fact they compliment each other. The brash, in your face Boston artist with 7 older brothers is still wary of men. She's been burned by an ex and open communication is a must in her relationships. So when a past situation regarding Declan is revealed, she's hesitant to continue the relationship. Her work shed is vandalized so she takes the opportunity while the investigation happens to return to Boston for a visit. Her best friend , Ellie who's engaged to Declan's twin brother, accompanies her. When Declan hears he follows as a grand gesture to win her back. But will her brothers allow him to see her and the bigger question is how to convince Kathleen they are soul mates who belong together. Another magical story in the Unexpected Prince Charming series by Ava Miles!
Once again Ava Miles has a winner with Declan and Kathleen's story! Two individuals with sad pasts and a meddlesome ghost find out that they really should have listened to Sorcha right away. I just love this Unexpected Prince Charming Series--the characters are so real to me and I can actually feel the beauty of Ireland and its people through Ava's amazing words. I started reading at noon (at work) and just kept on going until i finished around 9 pm. A good book is impossible to put down and this is definitely a great book! I have already preordered #5 in the series and look forward to finding it in my Kindle library in November! Brava Ava!
I love the direction Ava Miles takes in her stories…. Love explores through friends, family, community- it knows no age or gender. The reader becomes a part of the lovely community and creation of Sorchas art center. The story of Kathleen and Declan is one of my favorites in the Prince Charming series, you can feel the toughness of Kathleen’s Boston upbringing and the stubborn pride of Declan’s Irish roots and rejoice at how the community comes together to support them. At the root of it all is Bets, matriarch of the group and Sorcha, the mischievous matchmaking ghost.
Because both protagonists were stubborn, the story became so long and drawn out. Just like in book 3, issues were thrust upon them because they didn’t communicate. I was ready to stop reading by the first half of the story.
Also, there was no spark between Declan and Kathleen. Although they both had heartbreaks and were stubborn, nothing seemed to cement them together. So far, this is the first time I’ve not enjoyed the series.

I am not really big on the "tough girl meets a tough guy" trop - there is too much hiding and deflecting going on for me to really get into the story; and that is exactly what this novel is. Luckily for me, keeping up with all of the other romances in this Irish series made it a worthwhile read; but I hated the graphic boxing descriptions. Still, Kathleen O'Connor from Boston and Declain McGrath from Caislean, Ireland seem to be fated, at least according to that match-making ghost, Sorcha.
I just loved this story about Declan and Kathleen. They were both so stubborn at first to any help or suggestions from Sorcha (the friendly ghost) trying to help them see that they were soulmates. Finally in the end their love won and they found their happily ever after.
The matchmaking ghost of Caislean, Ireland takes aim at Declan & Kathleen against their wishes….providing the romance. The ongoing issues with the Art Center has much of the village banding together against the troublemakers. I’m loving this unexpected Prince Charming series and can’t wait for the next book. Ava Miles is one of my favorite authors
Declan and Kathleen are quite the match. Loved the part at the Boston bar the most. Her brothers fun loving a protective ways were so much fun. She is absolutely right, there can be no secrets in a loving relationship. Looking forward to Bets and Donal's journey. Should be another fun ride. Thanks for the adventure!
Both protagonists resisting love even after being given assurances of being soul mates just made me frustrated with them. Most people would be thrilled to have the guarantee. Of course, even after they give in Declan still wouldn’t communicate at all. By the time they got to the resolution I was just tired. To add insult to injury, Bets and Donal breaking up was majorly disappointing.
This book was so good. I love this series and can’t wait for the next one. I’m excited to see which one of the remaining boys will be Sophia’s soulmate. I’m leaning towards Jamie. Great job Ava
I like the story line, the Irish , the country details, the people , way to much details of sex. My goodness, but I’ve just finished book 6 . The story line is great, on my way to read # 7. Did I mention I’m 84 years old. Lol
I continue to get a real kick out of this series. This book was fun to read along with listening with the audiobook. I highly recommend both for some real fun and excellent narration.
Although I love everything Ava Miles, this book evoked deep emotions. The character development was excellent and the book didn’t end the way I thought it would. Ava Miles is one of my all time favorite authors!
This is one of the best series I have read in a long time! It is one that you can sink into for a wonderful summer read. I simply couldn't put it down and can't wait until #5 come out.
Loving this series. So enjoy following all their stories and seeing how their lives develop. Best read as a series and get to know the recurring characters.
