Rate this book
Click Bait meets True Detective in this dark thriller about a missing Tik Tok star and the podcaster who journeys to a small town in pursuit of the truth.

On July 18th, after posting a disturbing TikTok video, 20-year-old influencer Evie Holiday vanished. In the months that followed, the influencer community turned her disappearance into a viral news story. Now, almost a year later, Evie Holiday is still missing and the LAPD’s prime suspect walks free.

Enter podcaster Cal Everett, who approaches the case from a new angle. Rather than retrace her final days, Cal begins with Evie Holiday’s origins. Who was she before she was famous? Why didn’t any family come forward during the investigation? From asking the right questions, Cal stumbles upon new evidence that leads him and his team to a small town full of dangerous secrets.

I went a little backwards with my discovery of Kyle Rutkin, I was gifted an ARC of Influencer Island earlier this month and I flew threw it in less than a day. I was stoked to find Kyle had more books already published and decided to take on TikTok Gone as my next endeavor and I was not disappointed. I actually enjoyed this novella a little more than Influencer Island because I felt like everything was given the proper amount of time to be worked out. I thought I had everything figured out but I was only partially right and Kyle Rutkin was able to fool me into a sense of false celebration. I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes a good who done it thriller that keeps you hanging on to the edge of your seat from page 1.

Fascinating prelude .....

.... to INFLUENCER ISLAND. Quite sure that you didn't have to read this story first, it helps knowing the background and its players. It was a fast and fun read. I became totally absorbed into the story and read in one sitting. Moving over to INFLUENCER ISLAND to read next.

This is a new tome author and my first Kindle Vella read!

I loved the premise of a TikTok celebrity going missing and the followers involving themselves in the case.

Podcaster, turned detective, Cal and his crew get involved in the case of missing Evie just prior to the first anniversary of her disappearance. A slew of new videos have begun to post on her account, showing her bound and in distress with disturbing messages.

I got really invested in the story of Evie, her Tik Tok celebrity and her rabid supporters. Cal and the team got more than they bargained for going after this story that's for sure!

Learn about Evie's childhood and heer life before TikTok and the relationships with her family and friends that made her what she is. There were some interesting twists and I highly enjoyed it. I'd definitely read something by this author again.

I read this book after Influencer Island, so some of the things that happen there make a little more sense now.

I will say, this book felt more complete to me than Influencer Island. The story being told feels tighter, and more fleshed out. It also foreshadows things that happen in the second book that felt a bit random on their own.

There is not too much to say about the plot without giving the whole thing away, but I find that something like this, and influencer Island, as a series of short internet films a la The Slenderman, would be really incredible to watch. With the appropriate disclaimers that it is definitely all fake of course.

The book also reminds me a lot of A Simple Favor. A movie I also really enjoyed and that had a decent twist. So if you liked A Simple Favor, you would like this book.

Yes yes yes! I feel like I’m channeling my inner Meg Ryan in When Harry Meets Sally. This is what I was looking for. This feels like the Kyle I read in The Eleven! Although only a novella and easy to read in an hour or so, this is the prequel I believe to Influencer Island.

I loved the story in this one; the twisted nature, the turns, the mystery… even the characters. Kindle unlimited read - free to read if you subscribe , this is a complete mystery story (Unlike some novellas that give you a taste). 4 stars.

I loved the unique style the book was written in, it was written like the script to a documentary, which really dragged you into the action. It was a fast paced read that left you with an equal amount of answer and questions. I whipped through it in 2 hours and am going to preorder the next book that comes out in June. I need to know what happens next!

I found the story very interesting, and I really don't have a bad word to say about the book. The format just wasn't for me. I'm still going to read Influencer Island :)

Quick, distorted read on the realities on social media! If I hadn't been so busy, I could've finished this in one sitting! Such a good book!

Apesar de previsível a escrita me prendeu muito! É uma boa história para iniciar algo maior e eu mal posso esperar para ler a sequência.
