THIS IS GIRLS MINISTRY Did you know that if you’ve been entrusted with a teen girl in your life, you have been called to girls ministry? And it’s not a one-size-fits-all kind of ministry, but a God-given invitation to use your unique position, story, and purpose to reach teen girls exactly where they are. This Is Girls Ministry invites you to identify what your relational strategy looks like as you overcome fears that keep you from stepping up and break down barriers that show up when you do. In the end, we’ll discover that girls ministry is for all of us—student pastors, ministry leaders, moms, dads, and anyone else willing to disciple and transform the hearts of teen girls.
This book will help you… Amanda Mejias serves as the Lifeway Girls Brand Specialist, which is just a super fun way of saying that she serves the parents and leaders of teen girls. After serving on church staff for many years, she is passionate about building relationships and creating resources that equip the local church. Amanda is wife to her wonderful husband, Brandon, and lives out her dream of being a working mom. If you ever want to find a way to her heart, ask to meet for coffee or send her a TikTok of a golden retriever.
This is a solid book full of heartwarming examples of why Girls Ministry matters. As a non-vocational “girls minister” it was challenging and supportive. Everyone who cares about young women in the next generation should give this a read.
Just okay. Essentially, "girls ministry" in this book means ministering to (being with, praying for, playing with, hanging out with) teen girls in general - not only within the church walls. Moms, dads, coaches, teachers, family, and anyone that knows a teen girl plays a part in girls ministry.
There are some helpful tips about relationship building with the girls in your immediate circle and I was challenged once again to be mindful about how I am connecting with God throughout the day. The tone, however, is very church-y. It's hard to describe exactly but there's a certain cadence, wording, sentence structure, and common phrases that Christians use in church that is like its own language. I try my best not to fall into this trap because it rubs me the wrong way and is like I am being preached to instead of spoken to normally.
This is an absolutely wonderful book! Teen girls need moms, friends, and leaders who love them enough to read this book and participate in girls' ministry. The author makes the point that because there are male leaders at church who the boys see there can be a vacuum of people that girls can go to for discipleship and guidance. I'm involved with the teen girls my son spends the most time with because I want to support, love, and guide them into women who follow God. It is good for my son to be around strong women who love God. It's a quick read full of insights and encouragements. Highly recommend.
Encouraging and practical ready for student (teen girls specifically) ministry. I’ve heard Amanda Mejias speak at lifeway events and she truly loves helping churches reach teen girls and gives great practical wisdom!
A great resource showing the importance of girl's ministry and the influence that men, women, moms, dads, and friends have in a girls life. This book is full of encouragement on how to point girls to Jesus. Definitely will be going back to this book and using ideas from it!
