The memoirs of a British subaltern in a West African regiment serving in the Northern Frontier District of Kenya and Ethiopia fighting against Italians during 1940-41.
An interesting account of a British soldier's war in East Africa with British African troops against the Italian colonial interests there. While this part of WWII may be seen as a sideshow of a sideshow the author starkly paints the struggles against the environment & local tribal issues as well as the death and loss that comes with combat. A worthy memoir of service in WWII East Africa which is overshadowed by the momentous actions of the northern campaigns.
