The award-winning, bittersweet sci-fi tale of a mysterious tunnel, time travel, and young summer love... (Original light novel also from Seven Seas!)

Tono Kaoru heard a rumor: The laws of space and time mean nothing to the Urashima Tunnel. If you find it, walk through and you'll find your heart's desire on the other side...in exchange for years of your own life. On the night Kaoru just so happens to find himself standing in front of a tunnel that looks suspiciously like the one the rumor describes, he finds himself thinking of Karen, the sister he lost in an accident five years ago. To Kaoru's surprise, he's been followed by the new transfer student Anzu Hanaki, who promises to help him experiment with the mysterious tunnel-but what does she want from Kaoru in exchange? And what will he have left to give, after the tunnel's done with him?

I hate the whole Kawasaki emulating Hanashiro. They can’t just have her look up to her to an extent but finding her own way at the same time? That bothers me. But I love the bond building between Hanshiro and Tono, they are adorable. The tunnel is of course the biggest mystery here though still and I cannot wait until we learn more about it.

Koharu shows her true nature. A weak personality. Thanks to Hanashiro, she longs for change. But she chooses a pattern I don't like, to emulate Hanashiro! The experiments to find out the unsung secret of the tunnel continue. A few seconds in the tunnel can mean almost three days in real life. Hanashiro is determined to fulfill her wish to become special and be remembered by humanity for her uniqueness. The summer holidays are approaching and Kaoru seems to want to make a final decision.

A fantastic second volume in the series. In this one, we learn more about the tunnel itself as Kaoru and Anzu run experiments to figure out how it works. Their unlikely friendship develops and an old rival turns out to be more than she seems.

I love the premise of this series. The artwork is wonderful and eye-catching. Such a great read.

Can't wait to read the third volume.

I’m left wanting more about the mystery of the tunnel, which is now revealed once crossed, time will pass, but to the person it won’t feel that way..
Again, Hanashiro had a spine made of steel. I loved the way she told off Kawasaki. Making me cheer her on. And finally, I loved the sort of friendship budding between Tono and Hanshiro as they work together to crack the mystery of the Urashima tunnel.

The second volume continued to story in an interesting direction. I loved seeing the side characters begin to take shape and the scientific way our leads are attempting to explore this tunnel. The story feels very well balanced between their ordinary lives and this magical element encroaching around them. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

I didn’t know what to expect from this series. Saw the movie playing in theatres but missed seeing it. Decided to read this. I would prefer just to get with the tunnel & mystery of the characters. Why is she interested in going in the tunnel? I care less about the characters themselves. Like the girl who was a bully & isn’t anymore.

The mystery deepens in this volume, and the characters get some good development. I'm even more intrigued than I was after the first volume.

God, I wanna be like Anzu… But I’m more like Kaoru.

And this tunnel/time thing really freaks me out. Especially the creepy torii gates *shudders*

This might be good as an anime, but it's not working for me as a manga

I liked them trying to science the tunnel and that they seem to have differing motivations. I’m a bit ambivalent about the side quest with Kawasaki.

I loved the deep conversations that took place between Kaoru and Anzu. I also found it realistic that kaoru being a teenager boy didn’t know what to say. I liked how we got see Kawasaki’s home environment, but I didn’t really see the purpose of it.

- This review is for the whole series -

A very nice little story. I liked the concept of the tunnel and the connection between the main characters. It felt too short, the end felt a bit rushed but I still liked it and I'd read it again sometime. (I'm going to ignore the fact he was in the tunnel for so long, never aged a day and meanwhile, she aged. The relationship after that doesn't sit too right with me but It is what it is)
