This is still super-mild cat-lover bait, but gosh darn it if the super-competent cat and ensemble cast aren't growing on me quickly. Can we get a grocery clerk and manager spin off?

I think the main appeal for me is that the furry housekeeper and the exhausted office lady slob put me in mind of my relationship with my wife.

It’s another slice of domestic bliss, as Saku and Yukichi navigate their tumultuous relationship amidst the woes of costume parties, potential weddings, and the threat of a creep in the community. Keeping in mind that Yukichi is, yes, a giant cat.

Yukichi remains harried and Saku remains hapless and the former is the put-upon and henpecked keeper of the house while the latter brings home the pay and drinks the beer. That’s the joke. Still.

Even so, the author at least knows the difference between a pair of paw-shaped mittens being funny and how exactly Yukichi comes to have a pair of paw-shaped mittens being really funny and that sort of escalation is what keeps this from feeling utterly tired.

And there’s a lot of heart here. Most cats are affectionate on their own terms and that’s certainly the case with Yukichi. He has no hope that Saku could survive without him, but she’s very, very good to him as well. Their flashbacks to his kitten days are so touching.

So you get a mix of typical cat behaviour (a cat-sized masseuse is exactly as bad an idea as it sounds), crazy househusbanding, and a truly bizarre set of fantasy sequences about marriage. Plus k ots of mishaps and disguises and a really clever twist on the abandoned kitten storyline.

The neighborhood predator section is a bit of a downer, though it does give Saku a much-needed win and shows that she’s not totally helpless (and shows how much pride Yukichi has). It also ties into the grocery store that has been attempting to hire Yukichi in a clever way.

This isn’t a deep book and shouldn’t be treated as such, but that’s no need to dismiss it either. It does what it’s trying to do quite well and that’s be amusing while featuring a giant cat that wears aprons and massive zippers.

3 stars - it’s slight and smaller than most manga, but that also keeps it from getting too stale. A fun story that gives some extra heft to its characters this time around. Another comfort food heavyweight.

Another fun volume!

I was SO excited this starts off with a birthday party that BOTH Yukichi and Saku were invited to because Yume was such a cute character in the first volume! She is such a delight to read about and because her love for Yukichi knows no bounds, there are plenty of fun shenanigans to read about! Plus, I liked that Yume isn't only the spotlight in the opening chapter because we do see her again, which made me happy!

The wish fulfillment in this volume was definitely strong once again and had to laugh at many points because Yukichi is the perfect companion. How he puts up with Saku being so slobbish is completely beyond me as there were a few times I was a little bit frustrated with her, but part of the charm of this series is definitely seeing what Yukichi will do in light of what Saku does. LOL! And of course, I found that charm wrap around me quickly! LOL!

One incident I REALLY liked is how we see Saku protect Yukichi. I can't say I ever doubted how much she cares for him, but there is one specific scene where she was not afraid to protect him. I think it was a nicer serious moment where her love as an owner really shines. Also if not this incident, then surely that conversation about marriage made it known how much she cares for Yukichi because the worrisome daydream she had made me laugh!

Overall, I enjoyed reading about these two once again! It's a fast read that is sure to make you laugh!

Another adorable volume. There's a surprising amount of variety for the scenarios considering the premise. I also like that the manga ends with the story from the cat's point of view.

Purrfect once again.

Birthday party time. Yukichi is invited. How will they disguise his giant catness?!

Horror story scare story is hilarious. And an encounter with a possibly dangerous assailant causes some surprises!

This manga is like a dreamy warm snuggly cat cuddle. Insanely cute art and amusing comedy.

And omg I NEED a kotatsu so badly.

THIS MANGA HAS MY HEART

PURE SEROTONIN.

What a hilarious & heartwarming VOLUME! This is the first book that made me laugh out loud this year. I want moreeeeee!!! It helps that Saku is relatable too. I’m delighted to find a kindred spirit in a manga. ALSO, I NEED A YUKICHI * kudasai . 😂 I can’t take care of myself tbh.

There are so many cute and funny moments in this one. I WAS SMILING FROM COVER TO COVER. SAKU’S PARENTS ARE LIKE MY OWN LOL and we get to learn more about Saku x Yukichi’s first encounter. SO ADORABLE!!!!!

I NEED AN ANIME ADAPTATION PLEASEEEE AAAAAA I CRAVE FOR MORE OF THESE SLICE OF LIFE GOODNESS :’)

I loved this volume better than the first - it made me laugh so much! I think maybe my days have been super stressful lately, and envisioning life with yukichi is just such a great escape. This one literally had me laughing out loud and that doesn't happen often with books for me. I think this volume had a little more heart when you see how much the two characters genuinely care about each other, it gives the story a sweet heart. I LOVE this series. I have to hold back reading the next two books in the series because I have so much homework but it will be my motivation and reward for finishing!

In this volume, we see that Yukichi really does love Saku even if she is the source of all his frustrations.

Vol. 1's Yume-chan seems to be a regular now and we get to see a little more of the elderly neighbor who simply accepts that there's a giant cat living in her building.

I've taken to reading these before bed; it's nice to drift off thinking that maybe, in some world, there's a giant cat who would want to stay home and cook and clean while I worked all day rather than me working all day then cooking and cleaning on the weekends while my cats sleep through it all.

More of the same. Very cutesy, slice of life stuff. Some humorous moments related to Yukichi thrown in, and really he carries the series as Saku is too much of a mess to do so. I do like that she seems to be good at work, at least, even though she's a mess everywhere else.

People keep thinking Yukichi is a person in a costume and the varying reactions were funny, especially when both were invited to her boss' niece's birthday party. Adding a zipper to his back was peak cute. Saku trying to see if the zipper worked, less so.

A little better than the first but not significantly. I do like that we are getting to know more of the side characters but I’m still annoyed by the main character. It’s honestly giving useless partner who doesn’t do anything around the house and the other one who doesn’t everything. Like, just because they bring back the money doesn’t mean they shouldn’t maintain the house…Not a big fan of that dynamic. I was hoping to see more character improvement but it’s still mostly a series of cute stories.

This was a short and fun read! I got into this series on a whim, and I have to say I don’t regret it.

I don’t have many thoughts on this since this is very much just snapshots into this woman’s life as her gigantic cat takes care of her. My favorite thing about this volume was the chapter that had a kitten. It was super cute.

Other than that, this just continues to be a vibe. And I’m happy it hasn’t crossed the line of “This woman is basically dating her cat.”

This series is really beginning to grow on me...!! I found myself laughing a handful of times, and the chapters in this one overall were themed in a way that really appealed to me. Cute, fluffy, dumb and fun... this manga is just what it should be!

(This book contains language, alcohol, a bathing scene (a little is shown) as well as a portion of the book contains a predator. I'd give it an age rating of 13+)

Honestly another amazing volume for this series. I love how laid back the cat is despite calling the owner useless many of times. In the past I’ve said that I feel bad for him, but now I don’t mind so much. He kinda enjoys the work… but she should do more to take better care of the cat I will not lie.

Similar to volume 1, a couple brief moments don't land quite right, but the series is otherwise a simple, sweet, and funny domestic misadventure, while Vol. 2 brings in new characters, storylines, and even a moment of crisis that threatens to upset the familiar balance of power between cat and human.

Spoiler alert; Saku doesn’t improve in this volume. She’s still ungrateful and honestly makes this manga hard to read. I love Yukichi though so I suppose I’ll continue on with this manga and just hope the main character improves.
As I saw someone else call this; “cat-lover bait” and well, correct.

I really liked this volume too! The art style (especially for Yukichi) is really nice to look at and the story is light and funny. The premise got a little bit repetitive in this volume, but I'm interested to see if it goes anywhere else in the future volumes.
