Happy/sad to have reached the end of this fantastic continuity series, but I guess, if it had to end this is the perfect way to wrap it up. Two strong novellas from stellar authors deliver intense suspense and toe-curling romance in just the right doses. Oh, and memorable K-9s too, of course!

There's a stalkerish vibe to Lenora Worth's 'Hidden Christmas Danger.' Love that Gavin and Sydney are already friends so the leap into romance is very plausible given the amount of time they spend together as he protects her. You might say that their 'friendship only barrier' slowly crumbles to dust as danger mounts.

And we get some previous heroes/heroines cameos as well. But the one thing I will mention is that there's a major spoiler for the suspense in book 7, "Explosive Revenge" featuring Tyson and Skylar, so, if you're intending to read that one, skip Worth's novella until after you've read book 7.

Katy Lee dialled up the angst in 'Silent Night Explosion', both with the suspense and the romance as well the hero's backstory. She had me rooting for misunderstood Victor right from the start. I wanted to shake Jodie for not trusting him but she had her (annoying) reasons so I got it. Love the roll grace brings to this story and the way the whole team rallies around by the end. A truly spectacular mini grand finale for the series. :-)

I enjoyed listening to the audible edtion of this book. Both Vanessa Daniels and Nancy Wu delivered captivating performances. I even fangirled a bit when I recognized Nancy Wu's voice from her narrations of the Timber Creek K-9 Mystery series by Margaret Mizushima!

Christmas K-9 Unit Heroes by Lenora Worth, Katy Lee
Danger comes to Denver for the holidays…
in these thrilling Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit novellas.
With veterinarian Sydney Jones being targeted, K-9 Officer Gavin Walker and his furry partner must stand between her and certain death in Lenora Worth’s Hidden Christmas Danger. And the clock is ticking in Silent Night Explosion by Katy Lee—but can Jodie Chen trust the newest K-9 officer, Victor Abrams, and his dog to find a bomb and keep her alive…despite Victor’s shadowed past?
Hidden Christmas Danger by Lenora Worth
Dr. Sydney Jones is the official veterinarian for the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. She's working late one night when she is held at gunpoint. The man needs a doctor for a knife wound.
K-9 Officer Gavin Walker and his all-purpose partner, Koda are doing a perimeter check when he noticed the doctor's SUV. He decides to go visit her. He enjoys her company. His K-9 alerts to a problem and he goes to check on what is happening in the clinic.
This is Sydney Jones and Gavin Walker's story.
The two dogs in the kennel went wild.
Dr. Sydney Jones glanced up from the paperwork she’d been trying to finish. She checked the clock on the wall over her desk at the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit Headquarters in Denver, where she worked on a part-time basis as the official veterinarian with the K-9 officer dogs.
Ten at night.
Wow, where had the time gone? Again, she recognized Shiloh’s bark, followed by Cleo’s less aggressive one. Shiloh could sense something off, she supposed. The black Lab hadn’t made the K-9 team due to a lack of ability to stay focused, but he’d been good at learning sign language.
Sydney decided she’d go and calm both dogs.
K-9 Officer Gavin Walker and his all-purpose Malinois, Koda, made the rounds of the RMKU headquarters perimeter, mainly to get some fresh air and exercise. Located next to the training facility on the outskirts of Denver, the RMKU building wasn’t fancy, but it held a fluid mobile unit.
Silent Night Explosion by Katy Lee
the clock is ticking in Silent Night Explosion by Katy Lee—but can Jodie Chen trust the newest K-9 officer, Victor Abrams, and his dog to find a bomb and keep her alive…despite Victor’s shadowed past?
Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit admin Jodie Chen saw and then heard the explosion that rocked Denver. She rushed to her labrador who after the inial blast stood to guard Jodie. She wasn't sure why the dog had failed his testing for the RMK Unit. She has taught Shiloh sign language for her deaf mother. Another explosion takes place. Monica was a no-show. She received a call from Victor. She had recently found some disturbing news about him. She wasn't sure she wanted any part of him. She received a video chat from Monica. She is in the explosion area. She needed help. Victor is the only one around can she trust him?
Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit's newest recruit Victor Abrams had called to ask her to lunch. He had on earphones and is unaware of the explosions. Jodie asked for his help to find Monica. He knows this move to this unit was a mistake. His military background rises up inside him but he runs to help her.
This is Victor Abrams and Jodie Chen’s story.
In the second story, Jodie is working with the new guy Victor, who she is not sure of. But when there is an explosion and then she can identify a killer behind that, she is in the killer's crosshairs. Fortunately, Victor won't let her go off on her own, because this is a very clever and ruthless killer who is out to silence her for good. Will Sydney and Jodie survive these bad guys?
Her phone buzzed in her hand. A spark of hope of it being Monica was dashed away when the caller ID said Victor Abrams.
Victor was RMKU'S newest handler, hired about three weeks ago.
I recommend reading.

I liked how quick these novellas were to read, but I didn't love the stories. I don't know if it was because they were short, but I had a difficult time connecting. I liked getting to know Jodie's story and loved the dog. I felt like the romance (especially in the second novella) was a little unrealistic.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Christmas K-9 Unit Heroes. This is a sequel to the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. The series was a continuity series and ended last month, this is related to that series. I enjoyed the series and like to read a little extra about the team. It gives you closure in the story. It also is written by two of my favorite authors. I know you are going to love it.

Silent Night Explosion by Katy Lee

I’m not sure how to review this book as it is two stories in one.

First, there is Hidden Christmas Danger by Lenora Worth. The story was a little too easy to guess the ending. I honestly struggled getting through it because of the many grammatical and spelling (typo?) errors along the way. I won’t say I didn’t enjoy it at all though. While the story was pretty easy to figure out the ending, it was suspenseful at times and I really enjoyed the K-9 part of it. There is such an amazing bond between dogs and their owners/handlers and I just love it. I loved Gavin’s character and tolerated Doc, but how things ended was perfect.

The second story, Silent Night Explosion, was great and very easy to read. I only came across one spelling error (I assume) and once I got past that, I really got hooked into the story. Again, the K-9 aspect is amazing to me and loved their part in this story. Victor and Jodie’s story was rough at the start and it kept me on edge the whole story. It actually brought me to tears (you know it’s good when it moves you to emotion, right?)!

If you love dogs and are in the mood for a quick Christmas read with a little suspense and a little romance… check out Christmas K-9 Unit Heroes!

An exciting finale to a wonderful series

This is a 2-in-1 book with stories based on characters from the original continuity set at Christmas-time. Don't let the Christmas season fool you. Bad guys don't take a holiday and these two are action packed! In the first story Sydney, the RMKP vet, is targeted for murder for some reason. Fortunately, Gavin and his K-9 dog are there to save her the first time and stick with her to solve who is doing this and why. Read this and see.

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has some kissing but no steam. The characters are vibrant and engaging. The Christian values are woven into the story and not just tacked on. I think this is a fitting finale to a super series. Read these in order, if you like a ton of action mixed in with good character development and Christian values! Enjoy!

This is an excellent author duo to match up for a Christmas Suspense book in the Love Inspired Line. Lenora Worth's Hidden Christmas Danger is a fast paced, hard to put down story. Veterinarian Sydney James is the main medical caregiver for the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. New member to the unit, Gavin Walker and his partner, Koda comes to her aid when she becomes a target for an unknown assailant. It soon becomes apparent that this is no random attack, someone wants Dr. James dead. I liked the characters in the story and Koda is a wonderful dog.
Katy Lee has an explosive start to the story of RMKU administrator Jodie Chen and the newest member of the unit, Victor Abrams. These are two magnetic characters who both have dogs in their care. Cleo has worked with former Navy Seal Abrams as an explosives detection K-9 who can even find the substances underwater. They have a past that has spiraled information into Jodie Chen's searches and she finds it very hard to trust the man. The admin has taken Shiloh, the dog who failed K-9 training and tries to help him reach a potential she sees in the young dog. This is an excellent story that actually had me close to tears while reading it.
I like that there is a Christmas theme here. After all, the real world, crime, danger and heroism continues forward during any season. I received a copy of this book from one of the authors. This is my own unsolicited opinion.

Two books in one

In the first book Sydney, Gavin, and K-9 Kudo team up to thwart the bad guys. It was a good book & I enjoyed it. The second book was harder for me to get into. I think maybe it was just too short for character development. Just my opinion. I'm glad I read it but would have liked more depth.

The cover to this book is so cute with two k-9 Unit dogs on the front in the snow. This was a new to me author and I will continue to read her books as this one was so good. There book flowed so good and I loved how the characters were individuals who were strong. Lenora hit a homer with this!

4 stelle e mezza

I read Silent Night Explosion by Katy Lee, and wow, what a suspenseful and inspiring story!
Jodie Chen works for the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit as an administrative when a disturbing explosion shakes Denver. She has a Labrador, Shiloh, to whom she has taught sign language, which she knows because her mother is deaf. Shiloh has failed to pass the tests for the K-9 Unit, but Jodie knows her can be trusted. She gets a call from Monica, a deaf woman who was present at the explosion and is trying to tell her something important. Jodie must go to the explosion site, but she needs help. Victor Abrams is the new handler at RMKU, but Jodie doesn’t trust him yet because she has discovered some shady stuff about his past in the military. But she has no other option, so they both rush to the crime scene, only to find more disturbing news, and Jodie crosses the criminal, so now she’s a main target. Can she trust Victor to protect her? Victor feels attracted to Jodie, but he senses Jodie’s lack of trust, and she might be right, but he wants to redeem his past and maybe this case will prove his opportunity. He knows he has to protect Jodie from the criminal behind the explosions, and luckily, he has Cleo, his dog who is an expert at bomb detection, but how can he breach Jodie’s walls and lack of trust? Will he get his opportunity to clear his image or will he be forever marked by his past?
The story was engaging and easy to read. It kept me guessing from page one until the end. It had twists in the plot that took me by surprise and added to the mystery. The character growth was pretty good even though the story is short. I was touched by Victor’s humility in accepting his failures and wanting to be a better man, trusting God with his future. He was courageous and sacrificing. Jodie had a hard time trusting Victor and I guess it was understandable, but I was glad that she finally decided to give him a chance. Victor’s story of redemption was heart-tugging. The ending was gripping and amazing. I loved the story! I only wished it was longer so we could get to know the characters better.
It can be perfectly be read as a standalone, but I guess it can be a richer experience if read in order. Now, I’m eager to read Leonora’s story next, and all the stories in this RMK-9 Unit Series! Highly recommended!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but wasn’t required to post a positive review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Two very different stories that originate from people who are part of the Denver Rocky Mountain K-9 unit.
The First: Hidden Christmas Danger, involves the veterinarian working with K-9 unit and one of the K-9 officers & his dog who work to protect and bring down the threat that has targeted the vet. The story is full of solid choices of friends and trust, with plenty of action in walking through this mystery and brings a laugh with a smile as it grows to maturity.
The Second: Silent Night Explosion, is a story where the computer tech and the newest K-9 officer with his dog work together. Trust must be earned, choices flexing with attraction more than reason. Dogs who respond to sign language. And a huge lesson in redemption, and never giving up. This ends with tears, but for the same conclusion of hope that the smile brought.
Excellent Christmas fun. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Two novellas make up this last volume of the series on the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. I wasn’t very impressed with the first one. It was a typical stalker plot with an arrogant stalker and the woman he tried to control. I found the police work incredibly unrealistic. Too bad that isn’t how stalker cases are handled, with all the info just falling into their laps. Also I found the dialogue to be really stilted. The second novella also had some unrealistic investigating, but the dialogue was much more believable, and the action was more suspenseful. I did enjoy the parts in both books about the dogs, even though I am not a dog person.

Christmas and suspense - why not? This book has 2 stories concerning the Rocky Mountain K-9 unit. I have to admit, I've read them all but this is a stand alone book. The K-9 stories not only have suspense and great characters, but I love how the dogs are important characters themselves. If you like mystery and trying to figure out who the "bad guy" is, lots of action, a touch of romance and of course, K-9s, this book is for you. I received an advance copy from one of the authors but all opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this love-inspired romantic suspense. This is two stories by two different authors. I bought this at our local Goodwill store and I voluntarily chose to review these two stories. I've given 5* ratings for both "Hidden Christmas Danger" by Lenora Worth and "Silent Night Explosion" by Katy Lee. Both stories pull you in pretty quick with lots of action and bad guys to keep you turning pages. Both are right near Christmas and use handler dogs as their partners. Nicely done.

This was two books in one. First a veterinarian is targeted and Gavin and his dog must help her figure out who is targeting and why before it is too late.
In the 2nd book, a deaf woman is killed and now Jodie must rely on her possibly unreliable new officer and his dog to keep her and her team alive. His past may get him kicked off the team and she hopes it doesn't interfere with the job at hand. But she is known for giving others a 2nd chance. Does he deserve it?

Lenora Worth and Kathy Lee are both good authors. Was nice to have 2 stories in one. The Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series are some of my favorite. This has two different stories in one book. The books were enjoyable enough each of the woman characters falling in love with their protectors. Loved the K-9s of these stories as they were so lovable. These were just okay reads for us. We liked the characters well enough but, not enough to fall in love with their characters.

Hidden Christmas Danger read by Vanessa Daniels
Silent Night Explosion read by Nancy Woo

Both stories were good. However, Vanessa Daniels ‘read’ Hidden Christmas Danger. Her voice is pleasant, but she brought absolutely no life to the story. It made the listening completely boring.

Nancy Woo, on the other hand, did a great job narrating Silent Night Explosion.

I loved that there were 2 stories in this book. Both very exciting, fast paced and filled with danger. I loved the K-9's especially Koda and Shiloh. Shiloh learning sign language was very interesting. The chemistry between the characters was fun with forgiveness, second chances and faith being important in both stories. I look forward to more by these authors.
