Born 1986 in the prefecture Aichi, Horikoshi first attracted attention in the second half of 2006 when he entered Shueisha's 72th Tezuka Award for Newcomers with his one shot "Nukegara" and made it to the final six, where he gained himself an "Honorable Mention".
Various short stories in Shueisha's Akamaru JUMP followed over the years until he published his one shot "Oumagadoki Doubutsuen" in issue #2/2010 of Weekly Shounen JUMP.

Kouhei Horikoshi is a graduate of Nagoya University of Arts. He was previously an assistant to TANAKA Yasuki.

I want to say the major highlight of this book were Bakugo's actions, but in hindsight, it was more than that. The volume in total not only set a precedent how bonds should be like, but also made me understand how you affect lives of people with simple actions. Midoriya's kindness towards his classmates was well paid off.
It's about Bakugo and Midoriya indeed, but it is also about Midoriya and his class (Uraraka, Shoto, and Tenya notwithstanding).

I also appreciate Denki fulfulling his promise and making Midoriya take a bath 😂.

I have no words.

It got me. The series set me up and sucker punched me with a Idaho-Smash. I kept showing my family scenes of Deku and all the UA students as they are now and I got lots of amazed stares. You see, they’re fans to. We have little figurines. To see how dark it got here… well… just wow.

So good. Sooo good.

MHA isn't a romance by any stretch of the imagination. But if it was? Uraraka's speech upon their return to UA High would be better than any admission of love.

Covers chapters 319 - 330, as I'm not sure which chapters this volume will cover.

In comparison to the previous two volumes... this one honestly left me a little disappointed. It started off super well with the "force Deku to accept help" battle, the incredible character growth of Kacchan, and the overview/realisations of the hero society structure and all that... but by the end I felt it was falling a bit flat, and so far I'm not convinced with this whole Stars and Stripes coming to the rescue... More Deku and 1A, and less introducing new characters I couldn't care less about at this late stage, please!

Chapter 324. Baby Uraraka is adorable and I love her. These flashbacks really tell a lot about who she is as a person now too. Super sweet and genuine and just wants to help others - civilian and hero alike c:

Chapter 332. I gotta say, the limits of Star’s quirk are pretty amazing, and I love that in order to be the hero she is, that she needs to have backup from the military and its firepower.

Comparado con lo que venía pasando, este volumen fue un re embole. Leer un capítulo por semana + tener una amiga con quien leerlo hace que la lectura sea más llevadera y entretenida, pero la verdad es que el ida y vuelta entre "dejemos que Deku se quede en la UA" y "sáquenlo de acá" got old real fast.

Bakugou apologizes!!!!!! (I had tears in my eyes) But I'm simply not vibing with him calling Deku "Izuku" 🙁

UNPOPULAR OPINION?: I know everybody in Class 1-A is very important to Deku, but I feel like Uraraka and Bakugou are the most important to him. Uraraka is his best friend and does the most for him. And she adores him and aspires to be like him and by his side. Bakugou and Deku's little rival thing isn't gonna end anytime soon but Bakugou's apology is such a huge step in their relationship! Bakugou has already expressed his feelings about Deku to All Might where we see that even though he feels threatened by him, he cares about him so fucking much. Plus Deku has always thought about Bakugou a lot when doing things-whether his fighting style or what would bother him.

This totally deserves being the first five star volume of the series!

These kids go above and beyond to help and reach Deku, encourage, love, and support him each in their own way with their own words and it’s heartbreakingly beautiful. And without spoilers the top moments are definitely that all important apology and friendship and then later those who Deku helped running to comfort him at his lowest—this is one of the saddest yet most hopeful volumes yet and I could NOT stop crying while reading. Everyone has grown and done so much and to see the amount of people Deku has touched and changed in some way is nothing short of amazing and he didn’t (and possibly still doesn’t) realize it until now.

All Might even gets “encouraged” by the strangest person ever and the sun coming out out after all’s said and done? Beautiful, and I don’t even care if it’s cliche, things like this work for a reason and this is a perfect example.

This is just the calm before the storm but what a healing calm it is.

This was good. Finally some characters trying to deal with the massive PTSD from the giant battle and dissolution of the "Hero Society". Then class A having to hunt Deku down and fight him just so he can have a moment to rest was well done. Mind you this was not light reading, lots of downer moments here, I have seen Marvel Comics by Stan Lee with less text. It was like reading a prose novel. Until next time.

No estoy llorando, me entró una basurita en el ojo, ¡¡Clase A Forever!! 🥺😭
Estos últimos capítulos son una joya. Ese lado dark de Midoriya tan poseído por sus ideales le ha dado un impacto brutal a la evolución del personaje. Pero lo mejor de todo, fue el vínculo de la Clase A.
Los giros de la trama son geniales, dejándoles ya el protagonismo a los sucesores, se siente como si ya estuvieran preparando el desenlace de la historia...

It was quite good in general. The first half of the book is dedicated mostly to Deku and the relationship between him and his classmates in 1-A. It was nice to see everyone grown up (not only in terms of power), especially Bakugou. Though the series is about how Deku became the greatest hero, it seems it is also about how the others became great heroes as well. The other half of the book focuses on planning and getting ready to face Tomura. The ending was nice as we got to see America's number 1 hero, someone All Might knows. Therefore, I liked this volume overall though there were some parts that could have been better. I feel like we are coming to an end and I'm waiting for a time skip.

EN RESUMEN
Sabiendo ahora la verdad sobre el pasado de Deku y OFA, Bekugo y el resto de la Clase A se embarcan en la búsqueda de su amigo para llevarlo de vuelta a la escuela.

ASPECTOS POSITIVOS
- La emoción que destiló este tomo, por diossssssssss. Los desarrollos de personajes, las relaciones, los paralelismos, todo fue perfecto. Y se hizo con una sutileza y delicadeza que no vio en el tomo anterior. Me encantó la decisión de que fuera toda la clase la que fue en búsqueda de Deku y no los héroes más grandes o los profesores. A fin de cuentas, esta es su historia, la de la próxima generación de héroes que va a cambiar la sociedad por completo. En este tomo se instaló por completo el mayor tema de la historia. MHA es un manga que usa las manos como un símbolo de lo que quiere decir entre líneas. Este es el final, lo que Horikoshi estaba buscando.
All Might fue un héroe increíble pero cargó con el peso de una sociedad completamente solo, no sólo porque no había otro héroe como él sino porque además era alguien que rechazaba todo tipo de ayuda. Eso provocó que la sociedad misma se apoyara en él y creyera que todo estaría bien si él estaba ahí para salvarlos. Cuando ya no hubo más All Might y sólo quedó Toshinori Yagi, todo se vino abajo. Por eso es muy importante lo que dijo Bakugo sobre Deku y All Might. Deku puede ser el sucesor de All Might pero no necesita cargar con todo él solo como su mentor lo solía hacer. Eso es exactamente lo que AFO quiere y es la razón por la que los anteriores de OFA no pudieron con él.
Me gustó mucho que toda la clase se unió para detenerlo y me encantó el enfoque que se hizo en Bakugo, Ochako e Iida. Ellos fueron claves en los primeros arcos de la historia y ahora todo está volviendo como un círculo. Los paralelismo ayudaron muchísimos para que su relación con Deku se luciera por sobre las demás: Bakugo empujando a Iida para que fuera él el que tomara la mano de Deku ya que él mismo no podía aunque sí quería hacerlo justo como pasó con Deku, Kirishima y Bakugo cuando éste fue secuestrado por la Liga; Bakugo disculpándose frente a toda la clase y admitiendo sus errores en contraste con el Bakugo del primer capítulo que se burló de Deku por su falta de don frente a toda la clase; la Ochako que ayudó a Deku a ganar puntos para que su sueño de entrar a la academia de héroes se hiciera realidad es ahora la Ochako que intercede entre Deku y los civiles para que éstos acepten a Deku de vuelta en la escuela. Es nostálgico y agridulce. Ahí te das cuenta cuánto crecieron los chicos.
Además, también significa un gran desarrollo para ellos. Cuando pasó lo del secuestro de Bakugo ninguno se animó a jugársela por su compañero. Esta situación es diferente, ellos son diferentes.
Fue una seguidilla de capítulos hermosos y super cuidados.
- No le tenía fe a Horikoshi con el conflicto que le metió a Ochako pero este tomo me mostró que estaba equivocada. Todavía creo que el arco de Ochako es un desastre y sigo de luto por las tramas que el autor abandonó en el camino por el bien del romance, pero admito que este es el mejor look que su personaje tuvo en mucho tiempo. Después de todo el lío con el látigo negro y Ochako interviniendo en el arco de la batalla contra la clase B, creía que Horikoshi intentaba darle a su personaje un nuevo objetivo centrado todavía más en Deku. Creía que ella iba a ser la típica chica de un shonen escrito por hombres que salva al personaje principal con el poder de su amor y sus sentimientos románticos. Pero estaba equivocada. Si bien tener a Ochako constantemente preguntarse quién va a ser capaz de salvar a los héroes se volvió repetitivo después de un tiempo, la consecuente recompensa lo valió. No era Ochako el centro de este conflicto, sino los civiles. Esa era la respuesta a su pregunta. La gente normal dejaría de ver a los héroes como dioses perfectos, primero a través de la decepción, y luego por la confianza mutua.
Todo esto se volvió aún más significativo cuando los primeros en ir a socorrer a Deku fueron Kota, la primera persona que Deku salvó y quién lo admira como él admira a All Might, y la mujer gigante que Deku defendió y salvó.
- Bakugo. Siempre Bakugo. Con este tomo confirmé lo que ya venía sospechando desde hace tiempo. Bakugo no sólo es el personaje mejor escrito del manga (con paciencia, con amor y delicadeza) sino que además es MI personaje preferido de la historia. Su arco de redención es uno de los mejores que leí y este toma le da el punto final que él necesitaba. Horikoshi se tomó su tiempo con él, mostrando sus diferentes matices, ahogando a Bakugo en lo más profundo para después hacerlo resurgir como el mejor. Y la mejor parte es que lo hizo solito, sin que nadie tuviera que mostrarle el camino ni explicarle los errores que cometió. Así es como se hace una disculpa. Aprendé, maldito Sasuke.
Además, amo lo significativo que es que Bakugo vuelva a llamar Izuku a Deku. Si bien Deku es su nombre de héroe, para Bekugo tiene otro significado debido a su pasado y a lo que hizo.
- Después de arcos enteros creo que es momento de aceptar que Stain es posiblemente el mejor villano de esta serie. Siento que Horikoshi podría haberle sacado más jugo, pero inclso con su pequeña aparición su peso en la historia fue fundamental para que se desencadenaran varias tramas. Además, su profundidad y sus contradicciones lo hacen más interesantes, y se ve mucho de eso en este tomo. Por fin vemos la ansiada conversación entre él y All Might, y la verdad que me gusta que justamente él haya sido el detonante para hacer reaccionar a All Might. Tenía que ser alguien que lo admiraba con la misma fiereza que el mismo protagonista quien le mostrara que la razón por la que All Might era quien era no se debía sólo a su don.
- El dibujo. Potenció todo lo que estaba ocurriendo, sumándole más emoción y belleza.

ASPECTOS NEGATIVOS
- Hubo algunos diálogos medio cringy. Te estoy mirando a vos, Tsuyu.

CONCLUSIÓN
Este tomo es EL tomo de My Hero Academia. El tema principal de la historia y los desarrollos de los personajes alcanzan su punto más alto durante sus páginas. Horikoshi saca lo mejor de este manga cuando se concentra en los alumnos y en sus respectivos arcos.
