He's charming. Sweet. Friendly.Your mother loves him. Your friends love him. He listens to you, buys you flowers on Valentine's Day, and always makes sure you're comfortable. He's the perfect man.Oh, and he also eats children. And once you find out, there's no way he'll ever let you leave him...This is the latest extreme horror novel in the Blood Splatter Books series from horror master Rick Wood - prepare yourself for a read that will make you feel wrong in so many, many ways...( This novel contains graphic violence - reader discretion is advised.)
Rick Wood is rapidly becoming a new favorite author of mine. This was an outrageous experience that kept me completely riveted. He expertly crafted Milo, who is this charming, charismatic, hysterical, and extremely unsettling serial killer. And, as if the title of the book didn’t spoil it, he likes eating children. He hunts them and has an entire process of preparing them, justifying his actions, and even sending detailed letters to some of the victim’s mothers. The first chapter alone was perfectly sadistic. And Milo’s internal monologue is enough to make you bust a gut. Then we meet Zara, now jumping back and forth from both of their points of view. She’s beautiful, a loving mother of two, and has some very interesting hobbies, of sorts. You put these two together and something really memorable is created. Rick Wood just gave us two of the most dysfunctional characters in recent memory, giving them both these tremendous personalities, and I loved it all. And he did something here that I never experienced with a book before, but ended up loving. He rotates the POVs, and also uses letters, newspaper excerpts, investigative reports, police questionings, eyewitness reports, and other modalities to deepen the story throughout, too. Very innovative and original. But this was an absolute home run that is 100% Topsider approved.
This was a great read. Not only was it twisted in an extreme horror sense but twisted in the novel sense too. Milo is a young man with a extreme taste for child flesh and has a twisted sense that he is doing no wrong. But he wants to find a new way to capture his prey. At the same time there are other women going missing which intrigues him, but not too much so to bother him. Zara is a young mother of 2 small children and will do anything for them to have the perfect life. All that is missing is a father figure since their biological father left them. Will Zara and Milo work as a couple? Can Zara trust him, can Milo trust Zara? All is revealed once you read the macabre story. You won't be sorry. Not for the easily offended. Recommended fully!
Prepare to meet Milo, he's your friend your mum will love him, everyone loves Milo, but under the mask be ready to meet the new Hannibal!!
The prologue in this book totally shocked me did I just read that. As I'm reading if only you could of seen the faces I was pulling you would of laughed out loud. The author draws you in and I'm thinking should I be reading this. But I couldn't put it down, it was well written loved the humour in it too. Just don't go to any of Milos barbeques lol.
Just as I thought I knew where the story was heading the author throws in a curve ball, what the hell I didn't see that coming.
This author whether he is writing horror or Splatter books he books you in and doesn't let go till the very last word!!! Be warned not for the weak stomached!!! Horrific, gory and shockingly brilliant!!!
Wow , what a story ! A story of a man who enjoys the taste of eating children . He then meets Zara ... A woman who has secrets of her own . Loved this book . Love ALL Ricks' books .
This book was an easy read, I really enjoyed the build up and the character development. I guessed what was going to happen but didn't quite know in what way. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a bit of gore in their life. Happy hunting.
