All this wounded marquess wants is solitude. Instead, he stumbles across a wallflower…literally.
It wasn't as though Marigold was hiding; she was just…lying low. In an abandon shed. Admidst a houseparty where both her best friends had managed to become engaged.
In a few days, she can escape to her quiet life of solitude and books. Alone. Forever. But then the prodigal son returns to the manor and charges into her life with the military precision one might expect from a war hero. Even more terrifying, he refuses to ignore her like the rest of society. Of course, he doesn't.
The irritating man seems to have made it his life's mission to drag her out of the shadows and into the light. And while she has no wish to be seen by the rest of them, his attention is starting to feel…nice. Better than that, even.
But he's a marquess and a war hero. His interest is purely an act of kindness. Nothing more.
Unfortunately, her heart refuses to listen to reason. Which means…it's bound to be broken.
Sigh.... I am loving this series... so romantic, straight to the heart and soul. Marigold is shy and a wallflower. That awful moniker that is place on some ladies that is totally unfair at times I think!
Max has come back from war, a little wounded and weary, but his mother only wants him to marry and take over his title. As the two meet it seems love weaves it's spell. But it may not be any easy road for these two...
These two authors are amazing individually but together the stories they create are spot on for sigh worthy historical romance. Just the perfect amount of each ingredient needed! I love them both and cannot wait for more in this series!!
I’m LOVING this series! My friend recommended these books to me and I’m almost embarrassed to tell her that I read three in one day and then the rest the next. Lol. These are absolutely perfect for a lazy day of reading. Marigold is a very fun character to get to know and of course all the men in these books are swoony!
Miss Marigold is exactly what society expects her to be, a wallflower, the one expected to attend parties but never as more than a figure in the shadows. Max, a new Marquess is just returning home from the wars, injured and not prepared to jump into society’s machinations, especially when it’s his matrimonially fixated mother behind his welcome home party. A rather unconventional meeting between these two ignites a gentle flame that could just as easily die out as become a raging inferno of passion, but only if they learn not to misread signals and follow their hearts.
A MARQUESS FOR MISS MARIGOLD by Maggie Dallen and Katherine Ann Madison is a sweet historical romance that certainly makes me glad not to have to deal with the society of their era! I have to be honest here, the term “wallflower” puts my teeth on edge, but the marquess proves that labels are not what they seem and there is definitely more than meets the eye in Miss Marigold!
A charming romance with moments of humor, some spice and love, sweet love! A fun read that will leave romantics smiling and maybe even fist-pumping for “the wallflower!”
I received a complimentary ARC edition! This is my honest and voluntary review.

4.25 Stars Maximus Langston, the Marquis of Arundel returns home from fighting the French , he’s tired, his wounded leg hurts & all he wants is solitude but his mother is holding a large house party so he seeks solitude in a gardener’s shed & stumbles across a wallflower…literally. It wasn’t as though Mary Clearwater aka Marigold was hiding, she was just…lying low. In a few days she can escape to her quiet life a solitude and books. Then the prodigal son returns to the manor and charges into her life with the military precision one might expect from a war hero. Even more terrifying, he refuses to ignore her like the rest of society. The irritating man seems to have made it his life’s mission to drag her out of the shadows and into the light. Even more frightening is that his attention is starting to feel…nice. Better than that, even. This is the third book in this delightful, fun, entertaining series, it could be read on its own. The pages flew by & I read it in a sitting. I loved both Max & Marigold who both fell hard & fast for each other but misunderstandings nearly separated them until their friends lent helping hands. They were attracted to each other from their first meeting & it only grew with each meeting. A well written story that had me smiling all of the way through, I’m so glad that Sarah is going to have her story My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I just love this "feel good" series and look forward to every new book with great anticipation. I know the hero & heroine will be lovable and the secondary characters of families/friends will add so much to the story. The books are just the right length for an afternoon read and there isn't angst or drama - just an entertaining, humorous & clean romantic tale. Max and Marigold are just a great couple and you want them to find each other and their HEA as soon as they meet. I highly recommend this book and the entire series to ALL historical romance lovers.
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
I must admit, this series have been the sweetest, heart warming books so far. My third book on this series. The books are short (less than 200 pages), with a slow burn but super fast turn over (in terms of feelings). Marigold, the last of the wallflower finally caught herself a man. Quite literally! The couple was caught in a tangle when she was hiding from the party - and the marquess happened to stumble on her. Not realizing she was talking to a marquess (she thought him a help as he was dirty and unkept), she talked to him quite easily. But when she saw him again the same night - all cleaned up and handsome - she couldn't believe she'd talked to a marquess. Max, who was quite smitten with Marigold since the time they first met, couldn't let her out of his sight. After asking her to dance, he proposed a mutual agreement; he'd attend to her in the hope that other gentlemen would notice her and she could distract him from the other hopeful mamas and ladies who had their eyes on him.
I really loved this book. No angst, no drama but not boring. Not boring.
Such a Sweet Story!!! A Marquess for Miss Marigold by Maggie Dallen and Katherine Ann Madison is book 3 in A Wallflower's Wish series and I am so loving this heart warming series. Maggie and Katherine have a unique way of writing such charming and wonderfull stories and their characters are just too lovable. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. This story has a wallflower, trying to fine ones way in life, guilt, matchmaking mothers, good friends, loyalty, kindness, a death of a father and love at first sight or should I say fall. If you read this book you will understand the meaning of fall and I highly recommend that you do.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Now this was a cute book. I love the meet cute. Marigold has always been a wall flower hiding behind ferns and walls if possible, to try not to attract attention. Since in the previous 2 books her best friends both got engaged she is feeling like she won't have any friends anymore and thinking more about how to find a husband her self. I loved that there is a lot of friendship in this book and looking back on the last 2 books I think there was a bit of that there as well but this one really shined in that aspect. I really enjoy books about true friendship. Even the Marquess had a really good friend helping him a long the way. This book also had a good amount of humor. Overall a fun and fast read.
Mary wants nothing more than to steal away to the country and have a quiet life. During a house party she hides away in a shed, but she’s not the only one trying to get away from a party. Until Max, a returning war hero and Marquess – finds her and drags her back out to the party. Mary believes he’s only doing this to be nice to her, but is he?
This is a shorter story, pretty easy to read in one sitting and it’s a sweet, feel-good romance that has wonderful characters. The two authors have done a terrific job of writing together and even though this is part of a series, you can easily read this as a standalone.
This was a sweet and delightful romance. Max, the Marquess of Arundel has just arrived home from his time in the army and just wants peace and time to relax. Unfortunately for him, his mother has other ideas and is holding a house party. Marigold is shy and quiet, she spend her time reading and day dreaming. They first meet without knowing who each other is. Marigold is attracted to Max but is it just friendship he wants? Jealousy will play a part in deciding what each one wants. A very enjoyable read. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A Marquess For Miss Marigold is a phenomenal historical romance by Maggie Dallen and Katherine Ann Madison. Team Dallen/Madison have produced a well-written book loaded with outstanding characters. Maximus is returning home after being wounded in the war to find his home full of people. Mary, Marigold to her friends, is a wallflower. Max and Marigold's story is full of drama, humor and spice. I loved this book and look forward to my next book by these authors. A Marquess For Miss Marigold is book 3 of the A Wallflower's Wish Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Really enjoyed the third addition to the series! From their very first interaction I fell in love with Marigold and Max, and their story was simply so sweet! Although I felt the plot was a bit slow, I still enjoyed every moment of it. Overall, a beautiful and sweet romance!
This was a little better than an okay read for me. I rated it 4 stars, but if I could I'd give it 3 1/2. It was entertaining, but not as enjoyable as the first two books in the series. I think maybe the reason for that is the fact that the romance, which occurs just as quickly as it did in the other stories, didn't work as well here because Max and Marigold didn't have a history together unlike the couples in the first two books. In any event, I still enjoyed the authors' writing style and fully intend to read the next book. The h in that story is Sarah, Max's sister, who we meet in this book. FYI this is another squeaky clean romance. Happy reading!
Much better written than the first two and even more enjoyable because of it. I don’t have anything negative to say and only have smiles as I move on to book 4. Well done
Miss Marigold and her Marquess, Max, have a very sweet story to share. Overcoming the obstacles which each of them seem to be mistakenly creating when they are together seems insurmountable, but with the help of friends and loving family, their story has a happily ever after.
** I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. **
This was a quick, light read. Marigold was sweet and believably shy. Max strong and brooding. They were a good match. It happened really quickly though. I like the loving families, sometimes parents are the bad guys in a story and it was refreshingly not so. It was also nice to have a hero be unsure of himself and not super alpha. All that being said though, the story lacked depth. Their personal strengths came on too quickly. More character development of both the main characters as well as secondary would have been nice. Setting could have been more detailed. The writing style is easy and light and would be enjoyable in a longer story.
I received a free book in exchange for an honest review.
A Marquess for Miss Marigold, Book 3 of A Wallflower's Wish series, was about Miss Mary "Marigold" Clearwater (there might be a bit of confusion with Mary's name as in Book 1 she was called Mary Gladwell, but the author definitely called her Clearwater throughout this book) and Lord Maximus "Max" Langston, the new Marquess of Arundel, son of the Dowager Marchioness of Arundel and a war hero. Returning from the war, injured, and realizing he needed to take his place as the new Marquess due to the death of his father, Max wasn't expecting to find a house party in full procession. He hadn't thought that his mother (Note that the author erroneously addressed his mother as the Marchioness when, in fact, she should be addressed as the Dowager Marchioness since the son was now the Marquess and the father was dead) would use his return as an excuse to hold the house party in order to assist him in finding a bride...at least not so soon. Trying to escape the young ladies in attendance, Max fled the house to find a place to rest. Heading to an abandoned garden shed, he hoped he could find some peace and rest...until he tripped over what turned out to be a girl...or young lady. Fascinated by her, he couldn't wait to meet up with her again at some point during the party. Marigold, being a shy, timid wallflower, did not enjoy being at the house party. While two of her friends were also in attendance, they each had found their future husbands, leaving Marigold to quietly envy them and wishing she, too, could find love. Not realizing the gentleman who had tripped over her earlier in the day was the war hero turned Marquess, lord of the house at which she was staying, she was eager to reconnect with him later in the evening. Surprise filled her when the new Marquess made his way towards her and asked for a dance. She realized he seemed familiar and when she questioned him, he revealed the prior meeting. This story was well-written, even with some of the misspelled words and the wrongful title addressing. It had all the angst and drama normal for such stories, with an antagonist who couldn't help but rub people the wrong way. There was a bit of chemistry between the two main characters, but there wasn't much passion. As with the first two books, this wasn't what one would call a "steamy" romance novel. However, it was definitely sweetly written. The humor was better in this story than in the first two. Another good book that earned a five-star rating and the right to be added to the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
A Marquess for Miss Marigold is the third book in A Wallflower's Wish series by Maggie Dalton and Katherine Ann Madison. So far it is my favorite as I relate to shy, bookish, Mary (Marigold) so well. Maggie and Katherine have done a magnificent job of developing all of their heroines. The females are strong, opinionated, intelligent, and unwilling to allow society to put them in a corner. However, the three friends would rather be wallflowers than conform to a world that doesn't fit their personalities. It is only as each woman story unfolds that society sees the heroines true worth.
In A Marquess for Marigold, the authors bring Marigold, the most shy of the three friends, out of the shadows and allow her many attributes to shine. The way that Ms. Dalton and Madison weave the story around the unveiling of Marigold's loving and caring personality is masterful! I cheered as Marigold gained more self-confidence and allowed her intelligence to shine as the story progressed. Marigold's character seemed to come alive the more I read.
As was true in the first two books in the series, the authors picturesque descriptions of the home, gardens and activities during historical English house party, transported me as if by magic into the story. I felt as though I was a guest of the Marchioness, enjoying an afternoon in one of the many gardens or sipping lemonade while listening to the gossip flow around me.
A Marquess for Marigold is a savory and sweet taste of romance in a time long ago. A perfect escape, to be enjoyed with a beverage of choice while relaxing on the couch in front of the fireplace with your dogs at your feet! I recommend you pick up a copy and see for yourself.

Remarkable job guys, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
*** The Hidden Wallflower *** What a romantic story. I loved Marigold/Mary. Such a shy young lady. The other reason she had little confidence in herself was because her mother had no faith in her to make her own match. So, her mother took it as her job to orchestrate her opportunities. How embarrassing for Marigold. Marigold had a heart of gold, was a loyal and loving friend but lacked confidence. When the new marquess stumbled over her in her hiding place she did not know who he was. But Max was captivated by her. She was honest, forthright and expressed herself when given the chance. Max found this refreshing. At first Max's mother wanted nothing more than for him to find a bride, marry and have an heir. But Max resisted. Max had just got from the war where he commanded many men. He suffered a leg injury but counted himself lucky he did not lose his leg. Max was overwhelmed trying to begin to learn how to be a Marquess but after meeting Marigold he could not stop thinking of her. The story made me smile as I read it. The miscommunications between the two; his best friend trying to make him jealous over Marigold and the pressure of his mother. It was hard not to identify with this wonderful couple as they wore their emotions on their sleeves. This was a fun and delightful read. I do recommend it.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
With parents' expectations running high, Lord Langston needs some rest and respite from his family's demands the moment he arrives back home from the war in Europe. Taking refuge in an abandoned cottage he finds it already occupied when he trips over Marigold, who is in hiding. Perhaps it is because their meeting is sight unseen, but the unremarkable wallflower attracts his interest, making him smile at her somewhat naive and spontaneous comments. He finds her candour refreshing and is determined to seek her out at the evening's entertainment. Max's interest is a mixed blessing to Marigold as she dreads being the focus of attention, whilst at the same time giving her the opportunity to become visible to potential suitors that would otherwise take no notice of her. Whilst Max's mother is less than enthralled by his interest in Marigold, her mother is ecstatic, much to Marigold's chagrin. This charming romance is a fairly short read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is well written and entertaining and comes to a delightful conclusion. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Max, the Marquess of Arundel, comes home from his time in the Army to find a house party in full swing. He's suspicious of his mother's reasons for having a party just as he returns. Not just any party. But one where not one but two wallflowers have become engaged. He just wants to relax and spend some time with his family. Not with a bunch of people. Marigold is a shy, quiet bookworm. She's the last of the wallflowers standing. So far she's watched her two good friends get engaged at this party. She is hiding in a shed when Max enters and trips over her. Their meeting is quite by accident and they don't know each other. There is an immediate attraction between them. Max realizes how shy Marigold is and decides he can help her by dancing with her and getting other men to see her. His plan is more successful then he thought it would be. This is the beginning of him being jealous of other men spending time with her when he wants to have her to himself. This is a sweet, charming, entertaining romance. I truly enjoyed reading this story and I am looking forward to the next one in the series. I received a complimentary ARC of this book and this is my honest and true review.
This book... is incredible. My favourite type of books, are the regency romance; the stuffy society, the need to rebel against its rules of propriety and the blossoming of true love, regardless of the hags and their gossiping tendencies. My favourite kind of women in these books, are the wallflowers. They are unnoticed and underestimated, but then they do something that shocks everyone, forcing them to acknowledge the presence of those they ignored. In this book, we see Marigold finally blossom into who she's meant to be, dragging us along with her. Another thing I love about this book, is the presence of Miss Abigail. It is so utterly pleasing to see that dreadful hag finally get what she deserves. I highly suggest reading this book.
Max has come back home to take over his father's position as the new Marquess and isn't expecting his home to be full of guests. Sweet and shy Marigold is feeling a little glum with her two best friends now engaged and her the odd one in the group when she has a chance encounter with Max. They both have issues they must work through and some obstacles in their way but they make a cute couple when they are not worrying about everything else and just let go. If you've read Maggies Dallens books you know you will get a cute HEA and this one does not disappoint!
Voluntarily read and reviewed an arc of this book.
Another wonderful heartwarming, uplifting sweet story. This is the third book in the series about young wallflowers. I am just loving this series. They are short quick reads that I have found hard to put down. They leaving you feeling good when you are finished and looking forward to the next one. They are a nice escape in these times of trouble and stress. They are beautifully written and have no sex in them. Just pure romance and joy. I received this book as an ARC and am very happy to do my review.
This was cute and I’m rounding up half a star because there manages to be a dash of insecurity even if it doesn’t last very long. While this could use a bit of tightening up (for example, “worldly woman of the world...”), my real issue is just that I do not like instalove, and while it’s pretty unavoidable in so short a story, it felt kind of abrupt here. I may have benefited from reading the first two books, but they didn’t strike me as fitting into my favorite tropes - though this can be read as a standalone.
