Rate this book
AS WE THINK, SO ARE WE . . .

Every day we fight battle after battle in our mind―many times unaware of the real fight at hand and wind up defeated, as if we cannot win the battle of our own mind. It’s our own mind, but we can struggle to make it up. Negative mindsets limit our existence by keeping us bound in habits and attitudes unless we know how to break free of them.

Our mindsets matter. Sadly, when people operate their lives caving to unhealthy mindsets, they live defeated lives lacking joy and peace stemming from negative thought patterns.

In Make Up Your Mind, the you will learn about the root behind common mental battles, focus in on ten key negative mindsets and learn how to overcome them using Scripture and real-life solutions as we adopt the mind of Christ. Each chapter includes a devotional application section and a "Counselor's Corner" section featuring licensed professional counselor Michelle Nietert.

Make Up Your Mind empower you to:

• Solve the subconscious pain that shackles your soul

• Resolve to renew your mind and release common mindset struggles

• Dissolve discouragement and discover delight again

• Absolve yourself from self-defeating thoughts

“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts” (Proverbs 4:23, GNT).

The authors of this book do a wonderful job going through each of the different mindsets that can keep us from living life the way God has called us to. I love how relatable they are while sharing their own experiences. And one of my favorite parts of the book is how each chapter ends with the Counselor's Corner. Make Up Your Mind gives us practical tools to put on the mind of Christ.

As someone who has struggled with depression to varying degrees over the years, this book is one of the many tools I'll turn to again and again as I learn to catch my thoughts. Denise and Michelle have written a book that is full of helpful insights that will give readers the ability to change the faulty mindsets they may have developed. I love the Scripture verses included in each chapter. They remind me that it's possible to change how I'm thinking with God's help. "Placing our hope in Christ is sufficient to overcome even the strongest of mindsets." (page 23) This book is excellent!

Our thoughts—what we believe about ourselves, the world, and God—dramatically shape our lives. So often those thoughts trend toward the negative or even downright false. With Make Up Your Mind, authors Denise Pass and Michelle Nietert encourage readers to believe in the possibility of transforming our thoughts into what is true and good—not through self-help, but through the power of God. Topics addressed include anger, anxiety, discontent, doubt, loneliness, and more.

Pass’s personal stories, biblical wisdom, and tips for redirecting your mindset combine with the counseling expertise of Nietert to create a tool that is both inspiring and practical. This book is so needed in today’s world!

Make Up Your Mind offers practical tips and Biblical insights about some of the most common emotional mindsets with which people struggle including anxiety, helplessness, loneliness, anger, and scarcity.

In a world reeling from lockdowns, riots, and more, Denise Pass and Michelle Nietert could not have written this book at a better time. Each chapter includes "keys" that explore the root of the issue, triggers, putting on the mindset of Christ, and action steps in the Counselor's Corner.

This book is one I'll keep on my shelf for easy access and recommend to others.

I’ve written two books on transforming your thought life, so this topic is near and dear to my heart. My real-life friends Denise and Michelle give new insights from two perspectives – Denise as a Bible teacher, Michelle as a Christian counselor. I learned lots of new tips for application in my own life, which are helping me choose peace in replacement for my anxiety.

I purchased my own copy of this book.

The Counseling Corner was the saving grace is this book. I had such high hopes but when it came down to it, the Counseling Corner was where all the answers were found. This was one of the few books I could not finish. If you want to get a good idea of how to work through the issues read the counseling corner section and apply those things. Everything else was just fluff.
