It shows promise in the beginning, touching on the history of the brand and how they got their start. Then it sort of diminishes into a constant thrum of plot summations from the various television, movie and comic book incantations and loses any historical interest. If you're a fan of The Transformers, don't stress about missing this one.

Yup, stuff I didn't know. Not that I knew much about Transformers, only what I learned from having a son who loved Transformers.

But it does it's job in introducing the story of how Transformers came from Japan to the United States and the multiple transformations they went through in storyline, mediums, and focus. About 2/3 of the way through it got a little too detailed for a Who HQ book I thought, but it rallied at the end and I liked the profile of the World Record holder for the most Transformers memorabilia.

For anyone who discovered Transformers via the Michael Bey movies, this is a good book to read to understand the franchise and the story of the Transformers. In this boo, the reader will realize the numerous players in the world of the Transformers. For anyone who watched the cartoon series from the 1980s and had questions about the changes from the cartoon to the movies, this will help you understand.
After reading this, I can definitely see the setup for more products in this franchise.

A fun little read that briefly summarizes the origins of Transformers toys, comics, TV series variations, and movies. It actually does a good job providing some continuity across more than 2 decades. It was missing any mention of Transformers Prime (the best written animation show IMO) and Robots in Disguise (a more recent series) or the most recent Earthspark. There also isn’t any real content on video games either, but this is not an encyclopedia and what is present is well described.

My kindergartener loved this book. As a fan of Transformers this was such a treat. It has tons of information about how it all began. We read this book multiple times at bedtime. Recommended for ages 5-11 by the SEPA School Library Book Reviewers
