The battle for Raelis is over… the war for Earth has just begun.
As the First Wave continues to dominate, bold decisions must be made.
While humanity cowers from the monstrous threat, it falls to Lyewax and his team to lead the resistance.
Now among Earth's strongest humans, they must fight their way across the North-West Province, fortifying towns and cities - pulling survivors from the shadows.
If they can convince humanity to Tier-up and unite, then the First Wave will fall...
Really enjoyed this one. Some of the dialogue read a bit odd at times, and there were some mistakes that slipped by the proofreader and some awkwardly phrased sentences, but those didn’t impact my experience in a meaningful way. In this book we see the MC, Lyewax, continuing his quest to save humanity, and it’s done in a satisfying way that shows his development as a character and leader. A fun twist halfway through elevates the stakes and my excitement.
This time around, the story is pretty much temporally linear. If you were put off by the groundhog day feeling of the first book, there is none of that any longer, and even though there's a huge amount of divergence from the original timelines, the MC continues to make good decisions.
If you enjoyed the first one, this is not more of the same. It's more of the better.
A great second book and original story with a great system. Forgot how good this series is…author should write faster! Definitely a must read in the genre.
The fight for Earths survival is heating up as everyone ties to Tier up and save themsleves from the onslaught. This series has an interesting take on the galactic overlord idea keeping the powers condensed but still levelling them up. With internal strife and an occasional helping hand keeping the progress fresh and the characters struggling this helps the bonding with the MCs immensely and the world building. Hopefully book 3 isn't far away as I love what happened especially with this ending as I have invested into how this one works out.
Love that we were able to learn a bit more about the world and rest of the universe in this one. Upgrades everybody, you get an upgrade, you get an upgrade, you get an upgrade. The character growth was nice, it was good to be able to see everyone progress. It was really engaging and entertaining throughout, can’t wait to read the next one.
Everyone should be dead from these overpowering monsters, yet they always manage to pull through and get just the power they need. The plot armor is so strong in this one that you can use a page to stop a charging elephant or defuse a bomb.
The story is okay, and the world built by the author is interesting, but much of the book is otherwise one dimensional. The characters and descriptions of the environment in particular. If food, it’d be fast food.
