Jennifer Lonoff Schiff is the author of the popular Sanibel Island Mystery series and the stand-alone novels Tinder Fella, a delightful rom-com set in NYC, and Something's Cooking in Chianti, a culinary mystery set in Italy.

Prior to her career as an author, Jennifer worked as a fact-checker, researcher, writer, and/or editor for a variety of magazines and book publishers. She eventually left the publishing world to found a boutique marketing communications agency that helped companies tell their story, for which she won several awards.

When not busy working on her next novel, Jennifer can be found playing with her two cats, taking long walks on the beach, or with her nose in someone else's book.

Mezza mezz

A little tedious. Too many characters. Confusing similiar names..Guin / Glen. Beatrice / Bridget. Liked the setting and descriptions and the food.
Could have been a little shorter.

This is an offshoot to the Sanibel Island Mysteries. It's a fun read with Guin and Glen who are characters in the previously mentioned series. Guin heads to Italy with Glen to attend a cooking class. Guin sends her articles and Glen sends photos to their Sanibel Island newspaper for the travel section. Someone from the cooking class meets an untimely end. Follow Guin as she works to find out who did it.

I know it’s supposed to be an “offshoot” of the main series, but I feel like it should be included in the series. I started reading “The Crisis Before Christmas,” but stopped when it started mentioning this book. I felt like I had missed something, especially how Guin and Glen ended up together. So I ordered it and now I feel prepared to read “The Crisis Before Christmas.” I do wish that the ending wasn’t so rushed and the epilogue went into greater detail.

Have read all of Jennifer Schiff's Sanibel mysteries and generally loved every one of them, but some more than others. This was probably the one I liked a little less than the others. As another reviewer said, there were too many characters, and it was a bit stretched. The cooking classes were somewhat boring, as was the relationship with Glen. I realize Schiff is setting up this relationship for the next book, however, overall, I'm don't find myself cheering for Glen as I did Detective O'Loughlin. I sense he will be returning, and hope so. This book might have been enhanced if a few of the recipes were included at the end of the book to perhaps have given the cooking classes more significance. The ending was strong and tied the pieces together fairly well, this part was a bit rushed, but at this point, that was fine.

I am a fan, nothing changes that and can't wait for the next book hopefully back in Sanibel.....please leave us there for the next couple of books before Guinn is off on another adventure.

Another great mystery from Jennifer Schiff. I just love this series and I can't wait to see what new adventures Guin will be in. This is a great book to take to the beach and lose yourself in the glorious town of Chianti Italy. I am so proud of myself because I FINALLY figured out who did it and this time I got it right!

I loved the book but half way through connected that Beatrice and Vera knew each other because of her son. Why didn't anyone else? Plus it was weird an over 40 woman cannot commit to a relationship that she wants?

The plot was pretty good and the setting was great. I am getting tired of Guin’s personality. She never seems to learn anything about herself and the way she reacts to things that happen.

Loved this book! It was a nice change to have new scenery and characters for Guin and Glen to interact with! I look forward to following them on future adventures as well as coming home to Sanibel. I love living vicariously, every time I read about shelling on the beach, I swear I can smell the ocean breeze! Cannot wait to see what happens next, keep this series going, Jennifer!
