B.Y. Simpson hails from a small town in Tennessee. Growing up, time spent at the library or at the book fair far outweighed any other activity. But, one day she decided to trade in her bookmarks for a pen and wrote her first story. It was written in a journal during lunch breaks and it took two years to complete. Having completed her first novel, she decided to keep writing to develop her current book, Hades Sent.
In her downtime, she can be found with her children, watching murder mystery shows, and trying out new recipes. Just don't ask her to cook an omelet. She's never been able to get those right.
This books was an amazing read. It is a truly unique look at Angels and Demons. The book centres about Ireland, who is a strong female lead, and Greve's who is the male lead. There are twists and turns a plenty in this novel and the suspense builds slowly over time until you realise you are flipping through pages to find out what the hell is going to happen. You wont be disappointed There were times I wished we got more of a look at the back story playing out, I am guessing that Simpson held this over for the books to follow. This books is well worth picking up and I will continue with this series. Thanks to BookSirens and the author for a chance to read this wonderful book.
Wow...what a great supernatural fantasy. Ireland Grace is half angel and half demon. Struggling to find her true self, not everyone wants her to succeed. This is beautifully written. Filled with suspense, betrayal, and romance. If you like enemies to lovers with a plot twist... then this it .

I really enjoyed the plot and themes within this book. It was a surprisingly fresh take on the concepts of angels and demons. The twists and turns were very unexpected in the plot development and added some much needed suspense. I was very excited to learn about the history and characters in this book.
The main characters in the novel played heavily on the headstrong female and snarky arrogant man trope. The character development was necessary and heartwarming, although it felt rushed. Many of the side characters felt stiff and we didn’t learn much history or back story to them, or why many of them were even important. We learn bits and pieces about the history of the world they exist in and how certain events of the past shape the current predicaments.
Overall, a very enjoyable story but lacks the bigger picture. It reads very much like a stream of consciousness, so to speak, so many of the key themes feel underdeveloped or rushed. This has the potential to be a much longer story and there is plenty of room for more world building.
Fans of Supernatural or Hush Hush would enjoy this book!
Hades Sent is a YA fantasy story about angels, demons and hybrids (angel-demon as well as angel-human and demon-human hybrids).
The writing pulls you in right from the start, keeping me hooked from the beginning till end. The romance started off good, then felt a bit rushed to me, but they grew on me regardless. The worldbuilding is so intriquing, I loved reading about life in Heaven before she came down to Earth on missions etc.
There's a lot of twists in the end that I didn't see coming, which makes me even more excited to find out where the story is heading in the second installment. Honestly, this book was so incredibly good and exciting that I had a hard time putting it down. I'd recommend any YA Fantasy lovers to pick this up!
Thank you so much to the author for providing me with a review copy of her debut novel, and congratulations to her on the debut! Writing a first book is a truly impressive achievement, and I appreciate the chance to read and review it.
“Hades Sent” wasn’t the book for me, but I think it will find a lot of fans especially among readers who prefer more of a paranormal romance slant to their reading. As a fantasy book, it did not hold up for me, and I’m not much of a PR reader (or indeed any kind of romance). I’m always willing to be won over, of course, and I certainly found the relationship between Ireland and Greve to be compelling.
For me, a lot of things still felt missing. For instance, I was really intrigued by the set-up of Heaven that Simpson created. I haven’t read a lot of stories with angels and demons, and introducing family dynamics, sexuality, and many other human things into this divine supernatural world. However, that world wasn’t particularly fleshed out. Especially missing was a sense of how these ideas related to the Christian religion they were based on, the power structure of Heaven and Hell, and the limitations and nature of the magic that their denizens have. This was a very interesting premise I would have liked to see explored in more detail!
The writing feels quite young, so I think this will appeal to YA readers. I generally like a bit more polish, and the dialogue especially felt rather forced.
It’s a really interesting and unique premise for a book, and I hope to see this world more developed in future installments!
I adored this cover and the premise sounded intriguing, so I picked it up and devoured it in one sitting. Ireland was an amazing character, the world building and such that went into this making it a rich story to read. I loved reading about Greve and his journey through his mission. All the twists and turns left me guessing to the point where I was always hooked by the next bit. I adored this book and it’s a series I’ll be reading more of. Very much recommended to anyone who loves a good paranormal/urban fantasy story!
loved it !!! what an excellent first book !!! loved it !!! love Ireland and Greve.... this is their story... a fast paced action packed drama... angels and demons, hybrids ... heaven and hell... and those that force the issue... just loved it !!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
We travel to another dimension where humans, hybrids, angels and demons exist. Ireland begins her journey with Greve unwillingly at first. His mission is to train the hybrid to acknowledge more of her demon side but the angel side is still interferring. As they both get closer they begin to change which causes her cruel mother of Hades Jade to interfere. The tests and torture her mother puts her through almost leaves her in a shell but Greve is there to help her. Wow! Absolutely love this book!! It started off cute but when the action started.. omgosh! I could not put this book down from beginning to end! Never could guess who was behind the scheme! Even though it can be read as a standalone there are still unanswered questions which will be answered in the next Sent book! Already hooked on this series!!

Dont let the cover fool you. The words on the page are just as beautiful. This was a PERFECT YA Fantasy story.
Ireland is a misfit, and she is struggling to understand who she is meant to be. Life in heaven isn't exactly paradise when you're half demon. She must earn her place amongst the angels and be good if she is ever to receive her wings. Will Greve aid her in this endeavor or destroy everything she has worked for?
How can you be perfect when you are internally fighting the balance between good and evil?
This is a tale of choice...

Simpson has a really interesting story and all the bits and pieces to it, but I don't think she quite grasped the world she created. The story had many grammatical errors, plot holes, and a storyline that was confusing to follow. A lot of the time I was confused as to why characters were doing certain things, what exactly their role was in the story, and what the rules were for Simpson's world. Like, breaking it down to its bare essentials, it's the story of a half-angel/half-demon girl who meets a half-demon/half-human boy, named Greve. Greve causes her problems, and the angel higher authority orders her to jail Greve or be banished from heaven forever. So, she goes on this mission, but basically lets Greve put her through trials? He's trying to make her demon half take over her angel half, but does she know that? I think she does, so why would she let him do the trials to her? Then their demon parents get involved, yet she's still trying to get back to heaven though she's no longer trying to jail Greve? And they're also into one another, but also like harming one another? It was all so incredibly confusing.
I felt like I was reading a rough draft rather than the finished product of this story. Don't get me wrong, I think this story had a lot of potential and all the necessary elements, but they just weren't organized. It wasn't quite polished, but I could see what the story could become should it undergo some more editing and revisions.
Simpson did create an interesting world and she had some good plot twists at the end of her story, at least one of which I didn't see coming. And, I do want to read the rest of the series, because, although it needs some work, it is an interesting story and I'm curious to see where Simpson will take it. I just wish that it had been further developed.

Hades Sent by B.Y. Simpson is a supernatural fantasy set in a world of angels and demons. The story follows Ireland as she struggles with her true identity, and Greve as he attempts to come to terms with his mixed heritage. The setting is where angels and demons live side-by-side, and the characters use their supernatural abilities for their own gain.
The story begins in heaven. Ireland, an outsider who desperately wants to gain her wings, is sent to earth on a mission. On earth is where we first meet, Greve. He also has a mission. Ireland and Greve must work together to fulfill their respective missions. They must overcome obstacles and face many challenges to succeed.
I immediately disliked Greve's character, but I developed a soft spot for him throughout the book. He was a strong and resilient character, and I admired his determination and willingness to fight for his beliefs.
The dynamic between Ireland and Greve drew me in. As the story unfolded, I became increasingly invested in the characters and their struggles. I was rooting for them to find a way through all of their obstacles and ultimately find happiness.
The story often returned to the same themes about Ireland's challenges. I wanted her to be strong and independent, showing that Ireland could be a force to be reckoned with.
The world building was highly creative, original, and fast-paced. The ending was left open and left me wanting answers. Overall it was an enjoyable read that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy. I'm excited to see what happens in book 2!
This is my last book this month and it was Hades Sent by Brandi Argo Simpson 1st off I am a sucker for covers and this totally drew me in! Its a book about angels and demons, sounds fun, but wait the Fmc is half angel half demon trying to live her life in heaven. That is wild and I am here for it! The book felt so smooth and well edited it was an easy read once I had the time for it. I am not a religious person but I do like to read stuff like this every once in a while because it is still a cool story idea. The poor fmc Ireland quickly gets betrayed by her entire home and the people in heaven to prove she's nothing more than her demon half, super sad tbh. I loved the internal battle that Greve faced, I thought he was such a well written character. He starts off so stern, I am great I am a demon and quickly realizes it's not all it's cracked up to be. Character development for the win between these two!! The ending definitely left me needing more. Soo that ending! I feel like this is just another one of those hidden gems in the book world which just happens way too often since there's more books out than you could read in a lifetime. All in all, thank you Brandi for sharing this wonderful story and I really hope you continue on your writing journey if it is the one for you!
🎀𝕽𝖊𝖛𝖎𝖊𝖜🎀 : this was an amazing book and i enjoyed the storyline soo much 💗💗 this concept about demons and angels is new to me and the author represented it in a very wonderful way 💗.. the plot twists and turns in the end kept me on my toes and added a bit of suspense that i really loved .. 🔥🔥 i wouldn’t have ever guessed those twists ..🖤 Ireland is a hybrid born to an angel father and demon mother who was sent on earth for a mission that will decide whether she’ll get her wings or not .. but little does she know that she was set up to be taken by greve .. who is meant to train hybrids to acknowledge their demon sides and embrace it killing their angelic or human side in the process 🖤🖤 The character development for both greve and Ireland during their journey together is soo incredible .. that ending though !!! 🥺 i kept staring at the book for 5 minutes after i finished it trying to figure out what the hell just happened.. i am not well after that cliffhanger 💔.. i need the next book so desperately..
“Hades sent is the first book in the Sent Series- an YA supernatural fantasy series featuring action, betrayal and a hint of romance”. Ireland Grace is a creature that should not exist. Her tainted blood is proof enough that she is not pure enough to “fly” in heaven and she is not demonic enough to prey on the world with her mother. She longs for freedom and acceptance; she finds this all and more when she meets Greve. Greve has accepted what life his father has forced upon him. Happy enough to keep his mother safe and to not die at the hands of his father. The very angelic nature that Greve was charged with destroying turns out to be his saving grace. I enjoyed this story especially because of the subject matter I have not read any authors that attempted to tackle this. I loved the Intrigue and the big reveal of the “Final Boss”. I was disappointed in the Demons end game. It had a very Bond villain vibe. I would recommend to Shadow hunter fans because what is a shadowhunter if not a hybrid. I really liked the author’s take on the idea on the demon / angel / human relationships and how they work, or do not work together. Ireland and Greve were great, strong mains, and I really appreciated how we got to know them separately before throwing them together – it really gave me the chance to connect with them and understand why they are the way they are. There were some great plot twists and by the second half, I was frantically reading trying to figure out what was going to happen. The touch of romance was well done – not over-the-top, but just enough that it makes you think about will happen between Ireland and Greve. Overall, a really well-written, solid novel.
Thank you Voracious Readers and BY Simpson for my copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed the plot and themes of the book and the take on demons and angels. There were many unexpected twists throughout as well. I did feel that some areas of the character development were a bit rushed and maybe the strong female and arrogant male trope was played on a little heavily, but I still enjoyed it. I'd have liked to learn more about the side characters as there wasn't much about them. I enjoyed reading about the history of the world and how past events have affected current ones.
I enjoyed the overall story however feel like the overall picture was somewhat missing and some themes where a little underdeveloped. This book has a lot of potential though and with a little more story telling I think it could be great a great series.
I really enjoyed the whole concept of the book! The theme is not what I most encounter and that’s nice. The author’s writing is really nice and fluid and it was enjoyable to read. The whole story is somehow complex and not predictable and I liked that! I can’t find any black points save maybe how fast the relationship between the two main characters evolved. But it’s not really a problem and it didn’t bother me really much. Thanks to the author for sending me a free copy in exchange for an honest review!
I really, really enjoyed this book. And the semi-forbidden romance really won my heart. The reason that lost my two stars are the following: I found Ireland extremely hard to develop feelings for. Her behavior didn't made any sense in some points of the plot and I think that was really frustrating. And the second star was lost towards the end. It was really fast forward and it had so many secrets reveal but it was too sloppy written that left me with a million questions. The overall experience was positive though. I was sent this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this story. I couldn’t put it down. There were some details that were a little rough, plot lines that didn’t flow right, and character development that was rushed, but overall it was fabulous. The constant plot twists near the end kept me screaming and filled in a lot of missing pieces. The ending definitely left me wanting more. I can’t wait to watch the author grow as a writer and see where she takes us in this series as she completes it.
My all time favorite genre is fantasy, and this book caught my attention after reading it’s plot.
The Hades Sent was a truly amazing read, packed with twisting actions and interesting characters. This whole angels and demons theme got a totally new approach, I hope to read more like this from the author.
I recommend this book for everyone, who wants to read something new and unique.

Interesting and unique take on Angles and Demons. Lots of twists and turns. The main characters are entertaining and I enjoyed the blooming romance between the main characters. I also enjoyed the character growth. Exciting and fun to read. I received this book from the author through Voracious Readers Only.
The setting for this book with conflict between angels and demons on earth and in heaven with the female main character having to choose whom she should trust was very promising. We were told of internal conflicts as well, and that is why I have deducted one star. More telling than showing was going on. For a debut author, I could make some concession, but half stars are not allowed. I also felt the ending was rushed and part of it implausible. Not a cliff-hanger ending (although the author does bring a whole new meaning to school drop-off point) and it does leave the door open for a sequel.
There are triggers of swearing, violent death, torture and nudity so although it features a high school heroine, some YA readers may be put off. Themes of loyalty, honesty, trust are evident as well as parental respect and duty. I did want to learn more about the main characters, but I found their story arc too predictable.
The other star is deducted for personal preferences. It says the formatting was done in 2017. I did not like it as I felt it made the whole text look as if done on a typewriter. Look for yourself before purchasing the e-book and follow your own choice. Despite a credit being given to the editor, there were far too many editing errors remaining. Some of these did interrupt the story flow and all detracted from my enjoyment.
I would read more from this author, but I will not be at the front of the queue.

The writing felt a bit pedestrian and stereotypically YA, but the story was interesting. Greve was a bit too hard to reprieve at the start but got better. Ireland was the typical naive but plucky heroine who usually needed too much help. All that said, it got interesting in the end and I may decide to follow up for an easy read.
I received a free copy from voracious readers with no strings attached. All opinions are mine.
