As a member of Cross Security, Mason Hawk is a tormented man on a mission…some might say he has a death wish. No case is too difficult. Nothing is off limits. He delivers his own brand of justice. Solitude is his only reward. For fifteen years he has hidden the secrets he ran from at age seventeen. He shut everyone out when he became a Navy SEAL and he honed his skills to become the monster he believes he is. He’s a man with demons that run deep and dark. No one gets in. That is until she walks into his life and brings him to his knees. She is beautiful, smart, and perfect. Like beauty and the beast, he believes she could never love a man like him.

Kai Wailani has lived the perfect life. She has a loving family, has surfed all over the world and is on top of her game at the U.S. Air Force, but she wants more. When she joins Cross Security, the only man stopping her from achieving her goal is a gorgeous wall of muscle who goes simply by Hawk. He’s dark, dangerous, and yet, he can make her smile with a single glance. He’s a force when he walks into a room and he wants nothing to do with her.

Like fire and ice, the dance begins. They are enemies. They are lovers. There are so many secrets. Can Hawk and Kai trust each other enough to find their happy ending or will their passion end them both?

Sometimes when I read a books description I assume I’m going to know how it goes, I’ll make a story up in my head and start the book and see if my imagination is correct … when I started this book I was like “yep totally nailed this books story” boy was I wrong … every time I felt something was going to happen it didn’t.

This book is not like your a normal mafia. Security firm book you would read - It has a beautiful love story that progresses through the pages with lots of heartache and secrets being told - Kai is a strong, independent women who falls for Mason who is guarded, angry and not interested in anything more than casual with Kai .. together these two break down walls and build a solid foundation together ❤️

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone!

This book certainly kept me interested! Hawk's past was quite the surprise, he went through a lot! I was very happy that Kai supported him and cherished him when she found out why he shut people out!
Their relationship was a bit cliché at times, but they had great chemistry and they felt like a genuine couple, so bonus points for that!
I really enjoyed how Cross Security falls into the found family trope!

Told in duo POV. Prologue is Hawk and Kai meeting when she joins the team. Then the story picks up right where Luke ended. You do not need to have read Luke first though. She is 32 and he’s 35. This one is more relationship focused than the first book but there are still some exciting or interesting jobs they go on and a pretty major one at the last ~30% of the book. Hawk will definitely pull at your heart even while you want to slap some sense into him. I really like Hawk and Kai and enjoyed their story.

Yet again Nancy Brown blows me away with a non-stop, well written, engaging read.
The relationship between Kai and Hawk (Mason) had many ups, downs and lots of steamy moments. 🔥🔥🔥
l absolutely loved how all the other characters in the book played a vital role in the story unfolding too. Just such a fantastic reading experience. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book. ❤

This book certainly kept me intrigued and absolutely heartbroken.

Kai and Hawk work for Cross Security.
Kai is a female version of GI Joe she can do absolutely anything even surf yet trying to capture Hawks heart seems to be a bit out of her reach.

Hawk aka Mason has had a hell of a life it absolutely gutted me reading about his 4 year old self and what he went through growing up. I understood how he felt about himself and how he kept people at a distance but Kai loved him warts and all and that love only intensified when Hawk finally confessed his past to Kai.

I loved the chemistry between these two characters and the way their fellow team members bantered with one another they were definitely a family and it showed on every page.

I look forward to reading Chris and Poppy's book next.

Goodness, Kai and Hawk certainly do sizzle and smoulder! They aren’t fooling their colleague’s either, who are waiting to see if the usually emotionally closed off Hawk will finally open his heart and let Kai in. He gives Kai the hot and cold treatment for a good eighteen months before she turns the tables on him and he gets the message. He either claims her or steps away for good. Just the thought of Kai with some other guy enrages Hawk. He finally is ready to admit his feelings for Kai and tell her more about his past, hoping it won’t make her run in the other direction.

I loved how Kai took a stand and then made him wait to get any answers from her. She can more than hold her own against the bad guys, and is a very skilled and valuable member of Cross Security. She is confident and knows her own worth. The fact that she is also a pilot and a world class surfer only adds to her overall awesomeness. Kai may indeed be too good for the tall, dark and broody Hawk, but she loves him flaws and all. His past is horrific and it took great inner strength to move forward in his life. None of it is his fault, but his heart won’t let the guilt go, at least until Kai helps him to release it. I loved how the teammates all support each other, how well they mesh in and outside of work. They are family to each other, a family that teases, taunts and goads each other then offers unconditional support when necessary. The insight into the security business is thrilling and suspenseful, making this book more enthralling. The ending of this book is extraordinary and left me smiling. I can’t wait to read more books featuring the men and women at Cross Security.

I highly recommend this action-packed and extraordinary book.

Another great addition to the Cross Security Series. You read a little about Hawk in the first book. But this one you really get to know him, the reason why the way that he is and get the chance to dig into the amazing off the charts chemistry he has with Kai.
Both Hawk and Kai work for Cross Security. But at the same time there is something more brewing between these two behind closed doors. The chemistry is off the charts hot and intense. Nancy did one amazing job writing the chemistry between these two. It is so easy to see and feel what is happening between them. But Hawk is stubborn and dealing with the past he just cant get away from. One night between these two and everything changes. But will Kai be able to convince Hawk that it is worth it?
There is hot steamy chemistry, adventure, danger and some tender lovable moments in the amazing storyline. Once again Nancy has dragged me into and hooked me with one of her books. I absolutely love the way that she writes and cannot wait to read more from this series.

Kai and hawk.

Hawk was young when his mother died. He was only 4. His father was abusive and he killed her and his 2 week old sister. The father thought he was dead too but he wasn’t. His father made him help bury them. He was always avoiding his father so he stayed in the shed out back. He grew up and went into the service. He ended up having to fight his father one day. His entire life he felt he wasn’t lovable. He ended up meeting Kai. She was also In the military and she was asked by Shane to join the team. He has everyone meet the new team members and if they feel like they have more questions or are on the fence he will have them spend time together. They ended up talking for hours. They ended up with a mutual beneficial arrangement. But Kai wanted more and hawk didn’t feel like he was worthy of her. This was a really good book. A lot of jobs that they were hired for were very interesting.

Hawk is book two of the Cross Security Series.

Hawk was a super stubborn individual. He did have a traumatic past and I get his reasonings for being cautious, but he also needed to embrace life a bit more and live fully. This was great that Kai came into his life and brought him to his senses. He was finally able to think about what he wanted and needed in his life to be fulfilled. I was glad he was able to realize this before it was too late.

There was a lot of intrigue and mystery involved with the case they were working on together. They do work for a security company, so this was a given going into the book. But you get some edge of your seat, nail-biting moments wondering how they are going to pull of their mission.

This was a great addition to the series. I really enjoyed delving more into the back story of Hawk and seeing how Kai was able to bring him out of his shell. These two complemented each other very well, even when they were arguing with each other.

I really enjoyed this book, it had a great plot, was well written and has characters you can’t help but love. Hawk is a grumpy, possessive man who is determined not to fall in love. His world soon ends up on its axis when he meets Kai. Kai is strong, sexy and not afraid to fight for what she wants, even if he thinks he doesn’t deserve her. The chemistry between them sizzles on the page as you read and you can’t help but hope everything works out for them. Great read!

This story broke my heart in the best way. The way that Hawk grew up completely demolished me and explains exactly why he never lets people in. And Kai, what can I say she is a complete bad@ss! And the perfect person to slap some sense into Hawk. You get some spice, some action, definite chemistry, and some heart felt moments. Great job Nancy. Can't wait to continue this series.

I love a good Nancy Brown book! She is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

I loved Hawk in book 1 and I love him here in book 2. My heart aches for all the awful things he’s faced in his childhood. But he’s a strong and incredible man and he deserves love.

Kai is incredible. Filled with love and strength and fierce determination to succeed. She’s an amazing character and I love the lightness she brings into Hawks world.

Loved this book. Cannot wait to see what happens with Chris in book 3!

Hawk and Kai's story was so beautifully written. Hawk came from such a broken background and I loved watching him slowly but eventually fully accepting Kai's love for him and vice versa. This was a beautiful story with great suspense. I adore Hawk and Kai and their relationship and how he was soft only for her. Such a beautiful story!
