And no one is more haunted than Detective Cal Brennan.

Evan Camby created a masterpiece of suspense. Following this incredible journey reminded me what I found so compelling about her previous works. She is an alchemist transmuting words into vivid scenes in your mind. Normally I can stay a step or two ahead of where a suspense novel is going to take me… this book didn’t even give me that chance. I was pulled in so deep that my analytical mind was just buried beneath her amazing description, and the flow of the story,l. Every piece clicked into place to transport me into her mind as she unraveled the events of the story. I could go on and on but I fear I’ll give away a plot point. You have to read it to understand what I mean by brilliant storytelling!

An absolute binge read for mystery lovers! I couldn’t put the book down until I found out who put Aubrey in the dark! Camby’s horror background lends an unexpected and welcome spine tingling element to the crime mystery genre. Her writing style is succinct yet vivid, utterly unaffected, and completely refreshing. I quickly became invested in this eerie Indiana town where things aren’t quite as they seem. Lucky me, this is just the beginning of the Cal Brennan story!
