BBC Good Food is a global food media brand, with a monthly magazine, website, app, live events and series of books. It has had four editors since launch: Mitzie Wilson, Orlando Murrin, Gillian Carter & Keith Kendrick.
I've had this book since 2007 as I lived with a bunch of students that abandoned our first year flat in an absolute state with multiple items left behind. I used this book more so when I left university. It gets 5 stars just for the Mediterranean Shepherd's Pie recipe. We've also tried the Pork and Potato Hotpot and the Summer Chilli. My copy has seen better days - it's heavily used and stained. BBC Good Food recipe books/magazines tend to be a hit for me.
One thing I would say is that I would question these recipes being cheap eats. I have to buy wine for the Mediterranean Shepherds Pie and as we're not wine drinkers, we buy a small bottle and it's a wee bit pricey.
I love the GoodFood series because they are so simply laid out, instructions are easy-to-follow and clear, ingredients are listed simply, ingredients are easily found in a supermarket, every page is accompanied by a picture, they are jam-packed with loads of different recipes, sections are marked clearly, they fit perfectly on the shelf, and there really are recipes for everyone, all the family! I love this series and use the books all the time :)
I got this book after I came back from L'Abri. The staff at the Manor House always has to find good, healthy, inexpensive recipes and this book was one of their secrets! Colorful pictures, good food, simple recipes. Yum!
