If you like Idols, Cells Rioting, and Drugs you may like Cells at Work! Code Black Vol 6.

QUICK REVIEW
One of my favourite parts of these series is the depiction of real world illnesses and effects on the body throguh a cellular perspective. Really helps put things in perspective and easy to grasp concepts. Depression was illustrated well and was very informative. Also loved that we are amping up the story to the next antagonists. Really excited for the next volume.

REVIEW
I recently finished the original Cells at Work! series and I have to say I like where Code Black is going. The original series had the issue of it being a slice of life type of story progression where we get a collection of stories. The problem with that is the finale tends to be a bit lacklustre where the tension or drama never amps here. In Code Black we have a cast that we follow and I love the growing tension of the body getting worse and worse. I am quite excited for the next volume and see where the body takes us next. Other than that love this depiction of depression and really makes it easy to grasp the concept of it from a cellular level.

There is quite some complexity in this book as it continues to depict a rather unhealthy body but also documents how treatment can still seem pretty traumatizing at the "cell" level as it were. So even when you consciously start takes steps to address what is ailing you, it will still be a while before your body can fully recover. And that's sort of the brilliance of this spin-off book. I was worried that it was just going to be a lot of gloom and doom, but now I see the larger story they're trying to tell.

If I wanted to learn about the human body and most importantly how what I do and how I feel affects my body, this is the series. In this volume they shed a light on the positives and negatives of drugs. Then at the end we are left questioning is a new darkness coming to this body as a light of hope has been shown?

This volume shows the body trying to do better. There is some debate about 'natural' versus medicated living and how the body shouldn't depend on outside chemicals to keep going, but the cells eventually agree that the medicine is necessary for now. A good volume.

Content notes: adult themes, not suitable for school libraries

Ahh finally a beacon of light. I like this series because it does show the ramifications of declining health, but I need some light moments too.

Things go down and up and then a hint of a steep decline, for a truly scary cliffhanger. I don’t know how the cells are gonna get through the future. But I’m pretty sure I’m gonna cry

This series takes hard to stomach health issues and makes them palatable with a fascinating story and solid artwork. Totally unique story. Jumping right into Volume 7.

Hostnya mencoba bunuh diri, lalu depresi ketika gagal karena diselamatkan.

Kasihan banget sel-sel dalam tubuhnya yang mencoba untuk tetap hidup dan bersemangat...

The body is overdosing on sleeping pills and all the cells can do is work until the end...
But that would end the book at the first chapter, so we pump the stomach and start the rehabilitation process.

Topics included in this volume are:
Nerves and Stress, Smoking and Depression

But, even if the body has started some much needed rehab, the damage has been done and it isn't always reversible.

This series has 8 volumes.
