An election for class president sparks excitement at an elementary school. Quiet Tommy Tupperman is running against boisterous Penelope Ratsworth. The odds of Tommy winning do not look very good so he consults what he calls “the Tupperman Files.” These files are full of odds and ends about each President of the United States. Over the course of this book, each file is read and questions such as “Which president got stuck in the White House Bathtub?” and “Which president rode a mechanical horse?” get answered along the way to someone’s presidential victory.
Students around third to sixth grade would enjoy this book. It has a history lesson along with a life lesson. Add in the funky illustrations in the book of each president and the reader will love the book, no matter how much they might have thought they already knew about the past presidents.
I genuinely enjoyed this book. I am a big fan of history and the presidents are an important part of American history so this book was a fun way to learn about them. It was especially nice to have an odd assortment of facts that I did not know or even have a clue about before reading this book. As a teacher, this is a book I would love to have in my classroom.
My favorite part would have to be the picture of the president who got stuck in the bathroom. It made me laugh when I saw it and I think any reader would enjoy it just as much as I did.
This book deserves a full five stars. It has a history lesson, exciting wording to keep the reader interested, and colorful, cartoon-like drawings to hopefully make the reader enjoy the book a little bit more.

Silly illustrations and interesting bits of information about each of the first 42 presidents will make this a fun read for kids; they won’t even realize they are learning! A must have for any intermediate class rooms on up.

During a presidential election, this would be a fun read-aloud. Or share with students who are interested in presidents.
Note: Only includes presidents from George Washington to Bill Clinton.
