The action manga bestseller returns, in 600-page editions featuring a remastered translation and new cover art by creator Hiroyuki Takei! Dive into the classic Shonen Jump adventure whose world of mystical spirits and bewitching battles inspired the classic anime. This FINAL VOLUME in the series features content never before published in English, corresponding to Vol. 34-35 of the original Japanese release! In a world where shamans communicate with the dead and call forth the power of legendary spirits to defeat their enemies in both body and soul, Yoh is a teenager with the ultimate ambition: to become the Shaman King, the one and only shaman who may commune with the Great Spirit and help remake the world for the better. But the road to this pinnacle of spiritual power runs through the Shaman Fight, a gauntlet of battles with rival mediums who call forth dizzying powers from the world of the dead in their own bids for the crown. At Yoh's side is Anna, his coach, fiancée, and a powerful medium in her own right. Sure, it'd be nice if Yoh had a little more time to train and mature...but the Shaman Fight is only held once every 500 years, so he's going to have to grow up quick!
Hiroyuki Takei (武井宏之 Takei Hiroyuki) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime Shaman King. His brother, Hirofumi Takei (武井宏文) is also a manga-ka.
As much as I love shaman king, it can’t be denied that it has such an anticlimactic and underwhelming ending. After 300+ chapters of build up, it ends with the power of friendship but it makes sense as to why since no power up can rival a literal god.
This omnibus is mostly just the one shots and short stories released after the series which were fun but it felt a little unbalanced with the main story ending so soon in the book.
Shaman king is still one of my all time favorite manga series but the ending is too anticlimactic and feels a little rushed for my liking.
I'm glad I was finally able to see this through to the end. The series lost a lot of what made it special as it contorted itself into the shape people expected of a shonen manga at the time, but it retained enough personality in its art style and variety of characters that I didn't feel the urge to give up.
Well... After all those years I finally finished my first manga series. Such a bittersweet ending. I liked it but was kind of expected I would say... But I loved the whole series in general. It was a beautiful journey. A great adventure with lots of interesting characters who all developed beautifully. Now time to watch the anime!
It's an interesting end to the series, I liked it, but I'm not sure I loved it. It has been a good read overall, and knowing there is the serial series, I'm curious about what will happen in it!
