Maddy’s life is finally turning around when a man from her past arrives to ruin everything.
The last thing Maddy expects is to come home and find her ex throwing down with her new boyfriends. She thought she had left Mike in her past, but is sudden return may ruin everything. He saved her once, and now she feels obligated to return the favor.
But misunderstandings keep cropping up, and she fears Mike is up to his old ways, using her new home as a front to move his drugs. He puts everything she’s worked for at risk, but now that he’s moved in, how can she force him to leave? Meanwhile, her guys are still running an undercover investigation that puts all of them in danger if they’re caught. Someone is threatening to harm those close to Cody, and they’ve already proved they’ll follow through.
Then Maddy starts to feel off. Is it her lingering illness, or is something else to blame? Can this group of troubled college students stay together? Or will outside forces pick them apart, one at a time?
A dark and angsty college age reverse harem romance with drugs, violence, lots of steam.
Maddie has a new life. She's in school, working, and has four wonderful boyfriends. But now her old life has caught up with her. Mike is in town. And from the first moment he arrives, it seems Maddie's life goes sideways. Her grades are slipping, her relationships are suffering, and she starts doubting herself. Maybe, she's not cut out for happiness after all.
Appealing characters. Absorbing storyline. These two qualities save this story from some serious flaws. On a basic level, the book needs proofreading. One page, sometimes a single paragraph, can switch from first, second, and third-person tenses. Continuity suffers from the characters being confused. One boy will be in the bathroom having sex, laugh at what Maddie says, and then join back up as they are leaving. Rule #1 in RH. Keep the guy's names straight. If the guys love her as much as they say, why ghost her? Their reasoning was not good enough. If Maddie is not safe in one secure place, why would security measures not be put in place for her final stop in the book? And finally, don't telegraph the plot twists. Suspense is a great tool. Build the anticipation. Subtly, not a sledgehammer. There was one surprise not spoiled, so I know the author can be discreet.
As stated, however, it is an entertaining series. Easy to get caught up in, impossible to put down. It's definitely a one-more-page kinda book. I'm hoping Maddie can turn things around in the next book and get a second chance at her fresh start.
I had to reread book 1 lost and found since it been a while when I read that. I fell in love with the story again and am happy I got to read book 2 right after. The past is finding Maddy and now Mike is messing things up. Maddy feels like she owed Mike, her ex, but he uses her home for things she doesn't want. I love that the book isn't predictable and you always expect something but it doesn't do that. Very well written and a good story!
This one was full of angst and suspense! As with every other book in the series, I could NOT put this book down til I finished it (thank god it’s the weekend) and I blew threw it in a day. Poor Maddie has been thru so much!! I can’t wait til the next book!!!
The second book in this series and I loved it, there was so many twists and turns it was hard to put book do wn. Highly recommend this reverse harem novel although gutted it finished with a to be continued
Poor Maddie, that girl has had one trauma after trauma, how does she still keep going. Finally she knows who she is, who her parents were. Who the bad guys are. A sad end to this book but hoping next book is all about sweet revenge.
Poor Maddy goes through so much alone. I hope she figures out what is real and what isn't in her relationships. I love they guys and want to know more about her family.
