121 years without hope has a soul become silent.

Salem, Massachusetts.

The home of magic. The hell of the damned.

The place where I rest until the end of time.

There is only one way for me to wake from my coma.

My beloved must find me and feed me her blood before I turn to ash.

It’s a rarity for a vampire to meet his blood mate.

I knew when the coma took me, I’d die.

In the dark.

Alone.

Until Maven Wildes buys my estate.

Her presence at the house wakes my spirit.

But not my mind.

I want her out of my home more than I want to breathe fresh air.

Unfortunately, the infuriating beautiful woman refuses to leave.

Yet… meeting me revives a lost magic in her veins.

And now breathing her in is all I want.

Our love creates power a warlock craves.

He’ll spill blood to have Maven, but I’ll drink his until his heart stops.

I will always protect my beloved with my entire being.

Even if it means spending my days in eternal night.

This story was poorly developed, we only had crumbs of something worth reading but it was enough to entertain me. 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐱 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬. I'm not even kidding, you ask me to des this and I'll say 𝐒𝐄𝐗. That's it. So much sex, just never ending pages of them having sex, and I do mean at least 7 very long pages of descriptive sex scenes, over and over again. Then some pages of plot to kinda explain some of the sh*t that happened 𝐢𝐧-𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮#𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬. Then we are back at reading more sex again, just in case we haven't had enough already.
𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚. Some stories have insta-love tropes and then there is this one putting any insta-love stories before them to shame. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚-𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐧𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐝𝐬. This book really had promise but the execution was lacking in every way, character growth, real plot, a worthy vilain and better lore.

Excellent dark vampire romance!!!!! I've read many vampire romances over the years and when I say I've found a fabulous new writer who blew my socks off! know its true!!! January Rayne's writing and storytelling is superb! Her spin on vampires is new and unique with outstanding characters both main and secondary. The cover was what originally put her on my radar it was so fucking beautifully dark and I knew I was in for a hell of a read when the author cautioned in the beginning of the book against continuing to read if you had a problem with vampire dick or blood!!! And let me tell you their was loads of vampire dick!!! And blood. Alexander is every bad girls naughty dreams and vampire fantasies! He's a total predator and very dominant and he likes when your a good girl ! !!! 😉 Maven is a perfect mate for our vamp. She's smart, strong and a witch! And their chemistry is hot and their love making mind blowing! Nothing is off limits for these lovers. The storyline is well plotted with a few twists thrown in to keep it interesting. Besides our main couple theirs secondary like Pa, maven's grandfather who raised her after her mother bailed on her.I loved their relationship it was awesome. And then theirs dottie maven's best friend! This chic is a forever friend and she's loyal, loud and quiet a bad ass who doesn't give a shit what anyone says! She's maven's familiar but its still a mystery about what she will turn into. This is a adult read with adult language and content. I don't like the words trigger warning I think it can hurt a book. It is erotica, but it is done so beautifully. Can't wait to read more from this amazingly talented writer! Remember her name because she's definitely a new raising star in paranormal romance! Until next time Luv's💞💋

I think this book had a lot of potential. The idea really interested me in the book description; I just think that it needed a lot of additional editing and reshaping.

1. The beginning was one big info dump. Info dumps are a lot to take in in any situation, but it's a bit much when it is literally the beginning pages of a book. If they were just running from their enemies, that would have been fine, but we had to learn everything about this world's vampires during it. No one naturally thinks like that, especially if they are about die, so it felt forced.

The story would have been stronger if we learned this information organically with the other characters.

2. There was a lot of telling and not showing. The descriptive work could have been bolstered a bit.

3. There were basic typos and odd moments of grammar that could have used rewording. For example, "He has gotten bitten and clawed by a werewolf." Very odd choice of verb tense.

OR, "Her distress beacons me like a light from the dark." Odd use of beacons; it's typically used as a noun rather than a verb. Maybe beckons would have worked better.

OR "The thought of another man touching her had me wanting to raise from the grave." Rise*

4. Additionally, and this is just a personal opinion, the writing reads as very staccato in many places.
I would have liked to see more diversity in sentence structure and a better flow between topics and character thoughts.
It reads as clinical at times because its so staccato. For example:

The MMC thinks, "We'll go into a beloved mating heat. It will last for days. We have to be together at all times."

5. There were times where details could have been grouped together, or should have been told earlier in the story. I have some examples.

Maven says that her friend Dottie is a teacher. She then says her friend can't be with her all the time, and then says her friend is tough because she teaches high schoolers. The fact that she is a teacher for high schoolers could have been said together.

Way later in the story, Maven is having some problems with hearing voices and Dottie comes out to see if she's alright. "'God, Maven. what the hell?' Dottie runs out of the kitchen, a cloth in her hand. She is inches taller than me, but she never towers over me height to gain respect. She's more motherly than that, even if she doesn't want to admit she had a sweet bone in her body.
She dabs the cloth under my nose..."

?????? That is such an odd moment to throw in that description of Dottie. What does that have anything to do with the situation at hand? If the author wanted to add that, it should have been included when Dottie was first introduced. Also, I would have cut it anyway because it's a really weird description. Why would Dottie tower over her to gain respect and what does Dottie's height have to do with how motherly she is anyway? Those two things do not go together.

6. Maven becomes incredibly redundant. I get it. This house feels like her home, but I don't need to read it every other paragraph.

7. The acceptance of magic on both Maven and Dottie's end doesn't make sense. Really, they both do this without blinking, and then all of a sudden they both know how to use their powers no problem? I mean, Maven at one point asks herself if all she can do is basic stuff and then in the next moment tries to do the most complicated of shit. Like girl, you literally stopped time. Do you honestly think that all you can do is basic shit? Her actions do not match her thoughts.

And Dottie?? She learns that she is supernatural and then all of a sudden can make swords out of bolts of light from the sky. There is absolutely no natural progression of power; she just somehow knows how to do these things. It felt sudden, chaotic, and honestly a little lazy.

8. On that same note, the author just throws random additional facts and information in. Like okay, guess that's a thing now too. Maven just knows stuff about being a witch. Or that Alexander all of a sudden can't go into the sun. That was so out of left field. Shit just keeps getting dropped on the reader.

9. Maven comes home from a morning out to find that Alexander finished all the renovations in the home. I've watched enough home renovation to know that even with vampire speed that shit would not have happened that fast. Also, ain't no way that a home that has been abandoned for a CENTURY just needed a new porch, glass windows, and some interior renovations. I don't even want to think about the electrical, plumbing (Uh, hello, lead?), mold, asbestos, dry rot, pests, water damage etc. that are probably huge problems inside the home. That was such an unrealistic moment.

10. And even more unrealistic???? That a man that has been essentially dead for over a century with no living family is somehow a billionaire and has a 'card' (per Maven's words). Can someone please explain to me how. Any of his wealth would have been claimed by the state, definitely not just sitting there somehow accumulating wealth/interest. Because let's be real, Alexander was probably not a billionaire in his time. And even if he somehow did prove he was heir to that wealth and was able to reclaim his money, when would he have had the time? He can't go out into the sun. Between that and fucking Maven, when did he have the time to fake papers, visit a bank, prove his identity, and all that bullshit? Also, even if he did, pretty sure that process would have taken a lot longer than the couple of weeks mentioned in the book. I know it's mentioned that he conveniently reinvented himself but the government doesn't just give you money like that.

11. The book that Maven discovers that was written by the old coven witch was way to convenient. Maven literally says, "Wow, this book knows everything. Too bad it doesn't know why I'm so important." and then LITERALLY a paragraph later is starts with, "Maven, You'll change everything."
I'm sorry but this is incredibly cliche, and honestly a really juvenile plot device. I can't say how many times I saw this exact same thing happen with 14 year old writers on wattpad (when I too was super young on wattpad).

12. I love smut, I really do, but there is absolutely no balance between smut and plot. Something really important in the plot will happen and then all of a sudden Alexander and Maven are tearing each others clothes off. And I mean, like she tries to bring his family back from the dead and then all of a sudden they are fucking. Then the plot picks up immediately after they get done screwing, but really, that smut scene should not have bisected the plot to begin with. There are many moments like this. Since this isn't erotica, smut should be a fun but balanced addition to a story not a hinderance to the plot.

13. Both Maven and Dottie are needlessly dramatic. Like I'm going to throw a temper tantrum over this and then be fine two seconds later. Maven does this when she learned why she was drawn to the house. Dottie does this when Maven tells her she is supernatural.

Some smaller things:

14. If Maven's grandpa had seven hundred thousand dollars for her this entire time, why did he watch her scrape money together year after year for the house? Why not just tell her about the money and help her out?

15. I reaalllyy thought she would have to find his body right in the beginnings. Instead, he's a ghost (?) thing... I don't know. Weird angle.

16. They're just fucking in Walter's house like that?!!! This motherfucker is roaring while he fucks you and your grandpa/basically dad can hear this and you don't care??! Biiiiitch. And then, he smells her pussy in the hallway.....where anyone could see them. Wtf

17. Alex has been gone 121 years. How does he know what leggings are called?

18. Dottie is both simultaneously a dog's name and an old person's name.

19. "In a rush, I tug her leggings down to her ankles.... I thrust to the hilt.." What happened to prep and foreplay with authors? Like, what, is he just gliding in on discharge alone?

20. Why wouldn't Alex just kill Brenden? Why would they run the risk of Brenden becoming a vampire witch because clearly Brenden just needs to wait for his mate to be fine. I know this is probably a device to keep the plot going but it makes no sense because why wouldn't Alex kill the man who nearly killed his family, himself, and threatened his mate?

21. How did Rarity age in that other dimension and no one else?

Now, I did like the take on vampires not being ageless, and I am a sucker for some thigh biting. That shit's hot.
And we need more of Alexander calling Maven a good girl.

Get that man a sunhat! And some sunscreen! He'll be fine, if blocking UV rays is all that matters. He won't turn into vampire bacon, I promise.

This novel is a great example of why you shouldn't always trust tiktok recommendations. I went into this expecting something great, and I came out with, well--I rounded my rating up from 1.5. I wanted so badly to have that wonderful and dark vampire romance that this novel and the reviews promised, but the story was all over the place for me and the pacing didn't help at all. There were several spelling, grammar, and continuity errors that made me scratch my head. The sudden overpowering of the main character was too much, there was so little backstory provided for the characters, and what little backstory we were given was flipped on its head last minute?

Overall, I could recommend this novel in good faith to anyone I know.

If you want a trashy, sexy vampire novel that’s not spectacularly written but will keep you entertained, this is it.

The authors note says, “There are no warnings you need to be aware of unless you need to be warned about vampire dick and blood. If so, turn around because this is not the book for you. If you like being fang banged, then read on.”

The female main character is a witch and the male main character is a vampire.

This books has lots of sex obviously 😂 and it has a praise kink, breeding kink, and unexpected pregnancy trope. Have fun, fangbangers 🩸

Oh my gosh. This is how PNR is done. If you read the prequel, Eternally Hers, you knew going into this story that we were going to meet Alexander. With how it (EH) ended, I was so excited to see what was going to happen. To be honest, even having read the prequel, I still was shocked and had multiple OMG moments.
January has this incredible way of bringing the lives within the pages to life.
There is this build-up from Maven where she goes through personal wants and desires and we watch her and see how she handles life when she almost loses everything and when it completely changes.
Dottie had me going crazy. All because I couldn't figure her out. I had so many theories. So many 'this is gonna happen' moments and boy was I wrong. But I loved how wrong I was. I loved the fact that I was questioning everything because when the truth was revealed, I was so caught up in all the possibilities that it made it even better.
Alexander. This Vampire loves with everything he has and when his time finally comes for him to return to the world, he wasted zero time to show what's deep within his heart and soul. He is intense, powerful, and all-consuming.
So many twists, turns, and gut-wrenching moments bring this story to life. The intimate scenes are so beautifully told and full of burning passion. Every moment of this book was perfection. All the 'what,' 'why,' 'how,' and 'holy hell' made this story what it is.
There is so much that can happen within this world and I can not wait to see how it all unfolds.

This book could be for others but it wasn’t for me. The FMC was a little cringe she said she was opened minded but when it came to it she wasn’t. There was little character development, at times there was a repetition of the same phases but worded differently and I would consider it an Instalove. The pacing was nonexistent. I feel like the synopsis was great, it grabbed you, but the story was lacking compared to it.

If none of those bother you then its the book for you.

Tiktok failed me on this one

It sounded so good, and I've been craving a good dark vampire book. Unfortunately, that was not this book. To be fair, I should have known when I wasn't impressed with the novella, but I still tried to give it a fair shot. Some of my issues are nitpiky, but I feel like if some things had been worked out a bit more in editing, the book would have read better. To me, being in a coma for almost 200 years and adapting that fast to everything modern makes absolutely zero sense? Also completely remodels their home by himself basically in a day? I don't know. I just feel like their was very little to no character development, and it was underwhelming.

Nope. Ah-uh. I got to hardly 23% and felt my attention slipping.

This is some insta-love type thing and I wanted it to be like, “wtf are you doing in my house you infuriating- adorable- CURSE YOU WHAT SPELL IS THIS- WiCkEd HuMaN!?!?!” 🔥🔥🔥

I was expecting this, totally sour, jaded, angry, and wretched little cranky puss of a vampire daddy. Instead, I got a frigging Tom Holland but sprinkled generously with the ode de toilette “Bad Boy”.

HAH!

I was waiting for, “I’m angry at the world and I’ve been waiting so d@mn long for you, how dare you make me wait, I gave up hope,” I was ACHING for that redemption story with the FL!!! And instead it sucked to me bc he was just so clearly unaware. Frozen. No character development in the dang near 200 years he was comatose. (I know he was sick ppl, but plot armor entails he can astral project or some sht to make him a whole lot more interesting than a weenie).

Speaking of weenies- that’s the vibe I’m getting here and that’s another thing that miffed me. I’ll admit, I didn’t finish the book, I really don’t intend to now either, I made it to just a smidge over 20% of the way through before calling it quits, so basically, what I have to say next could be bullsh*t but-

MY BRAIN FRIGGING LOCKED ON A R.H THE MOMENT I KNEW HIS TWIN- (allow me to enunciate that a little louder) 👏🏼🔥TWIN!!!!!🔥👏🏼BROTHER HAD A DEEP VOICE AND A BIG OL’ SCAR RUNNING ACROSS HIS FACE!!!!!!!!!! And I am SO positive he doesn’t play into the Romance of this book in the least. I’m half convinced he’s dead since rn she’s only having visions about “Alexander”. (Btw, Atreyu? I adored it but simultaneously couldn’t stop thinking about The Neverending Story at the same time.) I think half the reason I made it to even 20-ish% was bc I was waiting for the bro to pop back up. Instead, sweet lil Lexy can’t remember sht and the FL is a ditz.

You can see why, instead of being absorbed in the ML thirsting over the FL, I couldn’t get past this barrier where, in his own words in one of the first chapters he says (something along the lines of) “I’m 70 years old, practically a teenager in vampire years…” and my brain couldn’t stop freaking out that this 17 year old sounding vampire was getting all lusty and hot and bothered for a- what? 21? 23 year old??? Young lady!?

I KNOW HE WAS REALLY BASICALLY 200!!!! But when he can’t remember his own dang brother and why his house is in shambles- is it so hard of a leap to get jeepers creepers when he says he’s nowhere near done growing (in vampire years (and basically mentally in my mind too)) and he’s being thrust upon this GROWN human woman like no big deal???

No?? Just me??? *shudders*

Anyways. This was a no for me. ✨👍🏼✨🫡

(1.5) The pacing of this book was simply unbearably fast and unreasonable. Everything was conveniently solved, characters having a tantrum learning they have powers and then accepting it instantly. Insta-love isn't enough to describe how fast the MCs fell in love, could have just married them on the first page.
I thought to give this book 2 stars because I did go into this wanting to read smut but alas the epilogue ruined that with a sudden kink change.
There is no character development, no plot, everything is solved through convenience, and after every "emotional" scene, do you know what comes next, sex ofc bc someone you loved died you need to get them cheeks clapping.

After reading the prequel, Eternally Hers I could not wait to read this book. The prequel provided me just enough of a taste of what was to come with this world that the author built that I was ready for it. This book is even better than I could imagine. You could say that January Rayne has made me a "born again vampire lover" with these books.

Alexander and Maven were definitely soulmates. As soon as they were near one another I could feel the strong connection between them. Boy was it a HOT connection. I now know what my dreams will be filled with, and they will be great ones. In the beginning, I did have to laugh at Maven and Lex's first introduction to each other.

This book is not all about the sex. There is a really good, strong storyline weaved throughout the pages as well. One that I can't wait to see how it progresses in the next book.

Received as an ARC [an honest review].

I will start by saying I finished this in 14 hours, to give you an idea of how much I loved it.

Eternally Damned was everything I was hoping for after reading Eternally Hers. The story takes place 121 years after and is based around Severide’s Son Alexander and Maven Wildes. It’s a fast burn with all the dirty talk 🥵 Are you a good girl or a bad girl?

𝕍𝕒𝕞𝕡𝕚𝕣𝕖𝕤 𝕗𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕚𝕣 𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕕𝕤 𝕚𝕞𝕞𝕖𝕕𝕚𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕝𝕪. 𝕃𝕠𝕧𝕖 𝕙𝕒𝕤 𝕟𝕠 𝕥𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕝𝕚𝕞𝕚𝕥, 𝕟𝕠 𝕣𝕦𝕝𝕖𝕤, 𝕚𝕥 𝕝𝕚𝕧𝕖𝕤 𝕨𝕙𝕖𝕟 𝕚𝕥’𝕤 𝕞𝕖𝕒𝕟𝕥 𝕥𝕠.

January has written a fervent and sultry book with a strong plot; so many unique elements.

I did cry a lot, which many people may not, but Pa was a character that hit very close to home for me.
I felt like January knew my grandpa It made me feel like he was still here like he was the one telling me to follow my dreams.

I’m thrilled to see what she writes in the future.

Review:

I suggest reading the Prequel first. However, even without reading the prequel, I still really enjoyed Eternally Damned!

Another really good book perfect for spooky season!

Alexander and Maven = chef’s kiss! You can tell that Maven and Alexander are meant to be, based off their connection.

I thought the spice was good, the storyline was good, and the characters were well done as well!

I will be going back and reading the prequel, and the rest of the series!

How can anyone take this book seriously? The idea was interesting and honestly the start of the book was interesting but it was like watching a train crash by the end there's deus ex machinas popping up every other sentence, nothing has reason for happening it just does. I swear everything with the villain could fit onto two pages. It wasn't suspenseful, wasn't exciting, and the spice wasn't even good. Also minor spoiler, one of the MCs fixes a house with FRESH lumber he gets from trees he cuts down moments before, and everything is freshly painted and they are sitting and touching everything? It completely lost me 1/2 though the book and the things happening just became silly I no longer took the book seriously.

It's gotta be the festive vibe I'm in right now because I don't want to review anything lately.

Anyway, what a solid series! I love everything about it so far. I see a lot of good things coming right ahead from this one..

P.s. What our hero did to the villain in the end there was SUPER STUPID. Deduct one star just because of that.

Wow, I haven't read a vampire romance in so long. I'm so glad I picked this one!
Our fmc has been drawn to this old manor her whole life, finding comfort in it when the town has ostracized her (There are rumors she's a witch)
She finally gets it in an auction, only to find out that it's haunted.
Our 'Ghost' is a 120 year old vampire stuck in a coma in the catacombs.

There is this one scene that had me laughing so hard. After she gets into the house, she's walking around talking to herself about everything she's going to change, and he's stomping after her (In ghost form and she doesn't know he's there) And he's just so annoyed with her that she dare be in his house. It's so cute and endearing because he's like..."I understand you're beautiful, but you can't be doing this. I will not tolerate this disrespect!" So great.

When they finally do get together...woah. The spice is detailed and plentiful and passionate.
I really enjoyed all the twists and turns and surprises, the entire story had be gripped.

I've never read anything from January before, but I will be reading more now!

Thank you to whoever recommended this on TT - I forget who it was unfortunately :/

Here's the thing. I really enjoyed this book - until about midway through, it felt like the writing changed. I don't know. I refuse to bash any author's hard work because I'm very sure they put their blood sweat and tears into this, so I will say, it's not exactly the syle of writing I enjoy reading.

That being said - it's a fantastic story. This Book is more than 2 Stars, I'd absolutely give 2.75. It's an excellent cure for a hangover. Long enough to give the plot time to develop, but it doesn't feel rushed or protracted. A warning!! This series is NOT finished!! There are two Novella's (a prequel which I suggest waiting until you've read this book first) and one between this book and Eternally Cursed.

Now, Eternally Cursed happens during the same timeframe as this book and focuses on a different couple - which for me - is extremely frustrating because it seems this book ends on a cliffhanger.☹️☹️.

Either way - it wasn't at all a bad read - I would still recommend this book, but I'd give my thoughts on the writing, and if a continuation comes out I would read it.
