3.75 stars—CLAYMORE is the fifth instalment in Ivy Black’s contemporary, adult BLAZING REBELS MC erotic, MC, romance series. This is Claymore and Ella’s storyline. CLAYMORE can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as there is a continuing premise throughout.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Claymore and Ella) CLAYMORE focuses on the protection of Ella, the sister of Ray, the president of the Freeway Kings MC, a man who is out to destroy the Blazing Rebels MC. At every turn, the Freeway Kings MC are one step ahead of the Blazing Rebels MC but Claymore has named himself guardian and protector of our story line heroine, a woman most of the Blazing Rebels do not trust. The Blazing Rebels suspect Ella is working with her brother Ray but Claymore knows that Ella is an innocent, a woman with a target on her back for who she is, and her position as a pawn in the upcoming war but there is a new player in town, an MC calling themselves the Highway Lions, and their leader is both familiar yet not, someone working closely with the Freeway Kings MC. What ensues is the building relationship between Ella and Claymore, and the potential fall-out as betrayal takes down what the Blazing Rebels could not.
The relationship between Ella and Claymore is one of immediate attraction for our story line hero but Ella has lived her life trying to stay one step ahead of her brother, a man who has destroyed everyone she has every loved. Claymore has declared himself Ella’s personal guardian but our hero is unable to be everywhere, all at once, and once in a while, Ella is determined to do things on her own. The $ex scenes are edgy and impassioned.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the Blazing Rebels MC, several members of the Freeway Kings MC including Ella’s brother Ray, and the Highway Lions MC, whose new leader is determined to control them all.
CLAYMORE is a story of power and control, obsession and determination, betrayal and vengeance, acceptance and love. The premise is dark, dramatic and gritty; the romance is steamy; the characters are energetic and dynamic.
I enjoyed this book the best until the very end. It's like they wrapped up what had been going on but the second half ended on a cliffhanger. Is there going to be a second generation or is there going to be another series that will include the ending for this one.
This entire series is wonderful. Can't wait until Book # 6 comes out. These amazing, honorable and romantic alpha males are yummy and the stories around each is different but just as exciting as then ones before. Claymore is my favorite so far but we will.see how the next hero acts and behaves...lol.
I loved this series but by book 5 I was burned out from everything. It ended on a cliffhanger. I’ll probably read the next book once it comes out but I won’t read the series again to refresh my memory.Ella and Claymore are cute but this book was so hard to finish. I think I burnt myself out of the series. This book is barely 250 pages and it took me 3 weeks to finish.
Ella had told the club she would help in tracking down her brother Ray in return for the clubs protection and Claymores the one tasked to keep safe and get her brother. well written steamy action packed and more! a great addition to the series
I loved Claymore's story and the fact that he fell in love with the sister of his enemy really added angst, especially with his Prez and brothers. I was not however happy with the ending and considering it was published in March 2022 it's unlikely there will be a follow-up
