This gripping book takes you screaming around the track of Formula 1 racing in a brand new novel for longtime race fans and those with no knowledge of the sport. Here we meet Kiara, a scrappy driver who faces an underperforming car and a lackluster race season as she fights for a place as a woman in a male-dominated field. Kiara meets an unlikely competitor who pushes her to perform in a series of enthralling head-to-head competitions under circumstances that test not only her own grit, but her resiliency in the face of unimaginable challenges.
In Lights Out, Darius Anania brings a fictional story of Formula 1 to life with engrossing storytelling and unforgettable characters.
It has been a good three decades since I've watched my last Formula 1 race. This book got me back into it. The writing style included a great mix of technical background to understand what goes on in a race and personal interaction to suck you in. With the in-between bits about the emerging pandemic it all combined to read like Tom Clancy suddenly came back to write about racing. Great book with a great message. Looking forward to hopefully a sequel!
A bit of a slow start off the line… but, it sailed through Practice, Qualifying and Race Day. Loved having strong women at the helm and in the driver’s seat. Thanks for writing about F1!
I had no interest in racing before reading this book but the author seamlessly wove clear and detailed explanations of racecars and the expertise needed by formula 1 drivers in with the plot of this story and I found myself at the edge of my seat during each race scene. I really enjoyed this book and rooted for Brian and Kiara the whole time!
