Detective Frederick Devoe, a half-breed vampire, and his partner have dead bodies piling up. With no similarities between victims except the murder weapon and, with virtually no leads, they're at a loss.
Until the next body turns up.
Their first lead in months takes Frederick to a familiar apothecary where he meets the owner — a kindly witch — who stirs up all sorts of strange new feelings in both his human and beastly halves. While his human half struggles to remain in control, evidence begins to stack up against the little witch, and Frederick does something he'd never thought possible — he finds himself breaking every law that he took an oath to uphold.
Frederick, the only one convinced she isn’t a killer, makes her a promise — that they'd find who was truly behind the murders and prove her innocence.
Will Frederick be able to keep that promise? Or has he damned them both?
A native, hot-blooded Arizonian, Ivy Wynter is the author of the novel Wolffe’s Ridge, novella Framed, and several erotic short stories, including Devoured and Damned in the anthology, A Wicked Taste of Fate. If Wynter is not lost within her writing, she can be found frequenting the local dine-in theatre with her husband (as the pair are quite the movie buffs), sneaking in as many chapters of her current read as time permits, or button smashing her way through her latest video game venture.
Thank you to the author, Ivy Wynter, and KatieandBreyPA for an advance digital copy of FRAMED.
This is a really creative, unusual piece of urban fantasy and I loved it. I accidentally read this ARC a month early, and instead of just writing my review and saving I planned a second read. That's how much I enjoyed this book. From this one, I kept catching superior notes of BRIGHT, which was so innovative.
In FRAMED, Frederick (I personally prefer Freddie!) is a half vampire detective who, together with his partner, the old orc Borris, with his thick Irish brogue, need to solve a murder that might be connected to magic. This brings them into the company of the multitalented witch, Vivian, and her precocious weasel familiar, Slink.
Frederick's feelings begin to build for Vivian, and hers for him, while the case's evidence continues to build against her. Soon, choices must be made and loyalties declared. Who can win in such a situation? Can any of them?
One reason I found this story compelling was because the world's politics between magic and non-magic beings are precarious. Even within the individual groups of magical species, politics are a source of excellent story tension.
The romance in this story was of the forbidden sort, which to me makes the story element irresistible. The spice level is nice, 2 or 2.5 🌶.

I really liked this book. I thought it was a really creative concept.
Not rating this yet. Going to reread it in January 2023. When I finish it, I'll rate it and review it properly.
Anyone wants to buddy read it, let me know!
Recommend? Yes! For those who enjoy hardboiled mysteries or dark urban fantasy.
"It was the most exquisite type of torture, having her be so close, yet so untouchable."
This book... omg...
I was incredibly lucky enough to receive an ARC version of this book, and I have a confession-- I finished this book in one sitting.
I was enslaved to this story, a victim to the world at hand, and I had to see it to the end.
Ivy does a beautiful job at introducing an entire world without info dumping the reader-- all at once, I felt engrossed and like I had been a part of this world far before picking up the book.
It's a real page turner, and there are a handful of scenes that will live rent free in my head forever. I fell in love with all the characters, especially Fredrick and Slink (you have to read to find out why😏)
I physically and emotionally cannot wait for the next book in this installment. It is a must read ❤
Wow! This book is amazing ❤️❤️❤️ It quickly becomes a page turner and I didn't want to stop reading it ❤️❤️
The love and passion in this book is just great! A little bit of steam 🔥, but not too much. Totally the kind of book that I love! And yeah, I love vampires too 💕💕💕💕
This is a quick read, so you'll have time reading it even if you're busy 😉 I'll definitely read Ivy's next book as well 🥰
People are committing suicide after eating a candy. Two detectives, a vampire and an orc, find a candy wrapper close to one victim, leading to an apothecary owned by a witch. And the story begins.
Frederick is the one going over to investigate. He’s a shy and sweet, gorgeous vampire, but a half-breed, as he calls himself. To his surprise, he finds his fated mate in Vivian. He believes in her innocence and decides to make things right.
Vivian is a first generation witch with expert knowledge of her craft. She’s a cute, fiery redhead, a bit shy at first, but that changes once she falls head over heels for the lovable vampire. And I can’t forget to mention her familiar, Slink. A fluffy, caring mink that never leaves her side.
Framed is one of the sweetest paranormal books I’ve ever read. The world building in this story is smooth, and the author does a great job integrating all the details with the action in the book. The mystery involving the characters is well written with twists and turns that keep the Main Characters in a spin. Frederick and Vivian’s relationship is about love and trust that keeps you turning the pages, cheering for them, and eager to see them come out of all this mess happy and together.
It was a magical read with a great ending and characters easy to connect and fall in love with. I had a great time reading this novella, and I hope there will be more stories from Ivy Wynter in the future.
To those who said I could when I thought I couldn’t
[🇬🇧/🇺🇸] This paranormale crime novella has been a very nice and enjoyable read. Since the beginning you are thrown into the book without too much information, but I liked it because I almost felt like a character too! The urban fantasy world is built perfectly and I loved all the characters. I also really liked the detective part of the story and I didn’t expect some of those plot twist🤯 I hope there will be a sequel as I’d gladly read other adventures Frederick and Vivian will have. But the better part is that Framed is out now, so go buy it! **I received a free ARC of this book and this is my honest and voluntarily review.
Dead bodies are piling up recently in the town, Detectives Frederick Devoe , a half- breed vampire and his partner Boris, an orc are on the investigation. There's no leads with no similarities between victims except the murder weapon - a bottle of pink liquid, that leads them to the owner of the old lost Apothecary - Vivian Blackwood, a kindly witch but that turns to be wicked and witty with Frederick being in feelings for the little witch and the leads are against the witch. Frederick believes she's not the guilty one, she must be rescued from and solve the case.
The story was so exciting, vampire fell in love with a witch. The plot was suspenseful with a little exotic moves🔥. Loved the cover🍄 and the ending too🥺. Five years, aww that was toooo long, but Freddie came back🥲 for her.
Ah! Such a magical Novella. Framed is a bit of a whirlwind romance that left me wanting more of Vivian and Fredrick. If you love a little true crime, ✨mates✨, and world building that has you ready to move into their whimsical world(and hoping for a sequel🥺), then give Framed a read!
I can't recall having read anything like this before and it was good! It was short but you don't get that feeling. It is very fast paced, and the characters are so easy to fall in love with. I love the fantasy aspect of this novel, with the story having orcs, witches, vampires, and humans alike just going on with daily life. This is a unique story that I really enjoyed reading.
Framed is a fast paced and easy read. It can get you out of a reading slump real quick. The female lead is so adorable and sweet yet confident and powerful ( she's not afraid to rip you with her magic😉)
The plot was well planned and beautiful plus the cover just gives me magical vibes.
'Framed' an enchantingly new Novella. I was blessed with the incredible honor of being an ARC reader for a wonderful up and coming author Ivy Wynter. Her Novella 'Framed' is an amazing journey into a fictional world full of captivating characters, internal struggles, murder, and romance. Take a chance on 'Framed' and let your mind get lost into this fascinating new world.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ivy Wynter at the Phoenix Book Bash. Though I haven't picked up a paranormal book in years, her personality was so kind and engaging, I had to buy her book.
This is very well written and edited. I loved the characters, and they weren't the typical cliches that had stopped my enjoyment of paranormal. Ivy has reinvigorated my love for the genre. Once I started reading, I found myself picking the book up every spare second until the end. I loved the paranormal investigation unit and especially the witch's idiosyncrasies. Keeps you wondering if she's guilty till the end.
I'm looking forward to more from Ivy Wynters and would recommend if you're hovering over the buy now or read now button, just click it and fall into the world she's created, the mystery, and the passion between these fateful lovers. You won't regret it.
I found this book at at bookmans in az while browsing the new books. I took a chance after reading the back and figured why not. I was pleasantly surprised! It was an adorable quick read, I usually am not a fan of novellas because I feel like the story is left wanting. This was the opposite it was gripping from the beginning and the love story progressed nicely without feeling rushed. I would definitely read more books about these characters.
Thank you to Katie and Brey PA and Ivy Wynter for providing me with a digital copy of Framed. This is my honest review. - What do you get when you have a growing number of dead bodies, a half-vampire detective, and a first generation witch who spends her days making the very thing that may or may not be killing everyone? 🤔 A paranormal mystery romance that knocks it out of the park, that’s what! - Ivy Wynter did so well with the pacing in this novella! While there are time jumps, it doesn’t feel like you miss any of the action. This was a very nice mix of mystery and romance. I really liked the relationship between Frederick and Vivian. They’re so smitten with each other, sweet with a tinge of steamy desperation 🤌🏽 And the mystery doesn’t fade to the background! It remains equally important and is tied up really well. Framed also sets up a magical world that I’d love to revisit. I think it’d be so fun to follow Frederick and Boris along on more cases and to visit Vivian’s shop again. 🌸 - If you’re looking for a quick, paranormal romance with some mystery thrown in as a bonus, give Framed a shot! 🍄 - Framed is available gif purchase in ebook, paperback, and hardcover format. It is also available through Kindle Unlimited.
Detective Frederick and his partner Borris are in search of a serial killer, who kills people in the same way, yet with no leads they're at loss.
After months of search, they end up with another dead body but this one offers them a lead. It takes them to an apothecary. He meets Vivian, the owner a kind witch. She makes him feel butterflies and he comes to know she is his mate.
Evidence stacks up against his little witch and he is left with no choice but to arrest her. But when a slight hint of her innocence pops up, he does something he'd never thought possible. He breaks every law that he took an oath to upload.
He promises his little witch, to protect her at any costs and put the real killer in bars and prove her innocence.
Will he be able to keep his promise?
My Thoughts:
This was short and cute read. The story was smooth and filled with Love, Betrayal, Guilt. I was able to connect to the world very easily. There are very few characters in the story but they really had a place in my heart (Specially Slink ).
The love that was portrayed was super cute. I was always like stories where the man would risk anything to keep his girl safe. As a crime fantasy novel it kept me asking for more thrilling parts.
The urban world and Fantasy were super smoothly explained. I loved the author's writing style. It was neat. Vampire - witch combos are always fantastic 🤩
I can't wait for the next book to be released! If you are a Fantasy reader and are in search of a quick read, this book is for you!
If you believe someone to be innocent, what would you do to prove it?
Would you break every oath you've ever taken? Disobey the law? Put a target on your back?
Framed is an urban fantasy paranormal crime romance that have stood out from all the other fantasy books I've read, and I was NOT disappointed😍
All the characters fits the story so well and I loved most of them😅 Slink is definitely my favorite one🥰
In the future I have to read more vampire-witch romances because WOAW😍
The only thing I didn't like was the length of it because I want so much more from this world 😭❤ This isn't a negative thing tho😂 I just liked this world and characters so much 😩🥰
Thank you so much Ivy for letting me be on your arc/street team❤ I love following you on this journey, and I can't wait to watch you grow as an author ❤
I haven’t read anything like this and it was so good! Short but didn’t feel like it.
Frederick is a detective with Chicago’s paranormal investigation unit. He is half vampire half human and he and his partner Borris have been investigating a string of bodies. The only thing connecting them is a candy made at an apothecary.
While investigating the shop owner a witch, he finds evidence to link the her to the bodies and arrests her. While interrogating her he realizes that there is no way she is guilty and vows to help prove her innocence.
I loved Fredrick and Vivian, their relationship was so sweet and I especially loved Slink. This world was so cool and the plot unique. That ending!! So heartbreaking but I’ll be honest it was justified.
I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes out for what comes next.
When a string of mysterious deaths leads Detective Frederick to Vivian, a witch, he's hit with a feeling that he can't override. He knows she's supposed to be his mate, and while his partner believes Vivian is guilty, Frederick knows she's innocent.
Now Frederick is tasked with getting her to safety so she can't be convicted and proving her innocence. Can it be done?
This is an ultimate slow burn, which I didn't expect since it's such a short book. It was a quick read, I read it in one day, which makes up for it being a slow burn. I don't mind a slow burn if I don't have to spend days reading it.
There is a little bit of spice.
The mystery is interesting enough, and there is a twist I didn't see coming.
I was gifted an eARC of this book by the author for an honest review.
Firstly, congratulations to Ivy Wynter on her first publication!
*slight spoilers*
Vampires, witches, murder, mystery, mates, twists and turns! What isn't there to love about this novella?
From the first word, the story flowed so well. It left me asking questions the whole way through until the end. Fast paced and a really nice read. I love watching the relationship unfold between Frederick and Vivian.
I hope there's more to come for Frederick and Vivian!
Such a cute story! I love the fantasy aspect of this novel, the orcs, witches, vampires and humans alike just going on with daily life. This is like a mystery novel wrapped around the center of a love story between Frederick and Vivian. Adorable, and a shorter read which was honestly nice! Maybe there could be an on-going story with these two?Ayyy??
I would like to thank Katie&BreyPR as well as Ivy Wynter for providing me with an ebook ARC of Framed in exchange for my honest review.
This book was super cute. I love how we just are suddenly in a paranormal world and go with it. The whole concept was fun. Frederick was adorably awkward with Vivian and their spark was cute to watch play out.
This is quick little novella full of witchy vibes and vampire angst and Orc grumblings, instant love and a happy-ish ending. Would read more by this author for sure.
I was drawn in by the cover and stayed for the cute story. It was a good balance of crime mystery and paranormal romance. Was not expecting the reveal! Also found the world to be pretty cool, with humans and supernaturals coexisting. Would love to read more about it all!
This was a fun, clever read. A paranormal detective novella with vampire and orc detectives trying to determine a series of deaths that brings them to accuse a little witch. When the witch and vampire fall for each other, it could complicate the case.
Framed by Ivy Wynter is a suspenseful paranormal romance. Frederick, a vampire, is a supernatural detective on a case where humans are being murdered with love potions. A clue leads them to an apothecary run by a witch. Frederick finds evidence and is forced to arrest her. As he realizes she's his mate eternal and the evidence builds. Can he choose between his job and his mate? I found this a short but fast‐paced read. It had some interesting world-building. I love the image Wynter created of the apothecary. It was very whimsical. Despite being a detective story the main focus quickly became their relationship. I rated this story 4 out of 5 stars. It was a quick and simple story. I would have really enjoyed the story a little more with additional action or something, it just felt a little simplified. I was also a little let down by the ending. If you're looking for suspenseful contemporary paranormal romance, this short and sweet story will gratify your desire
This debut novella is a paranormal mystery romance about a half breed vampire detective who is investigating the bodies that are piling up without any leads until the latest dead body sends him to an apothecary. There he meets the owner, a tiny little witch, and finds himself entranced. Unfortunately, she becomes suspect #1 and he finds himself doing whatever it takes to prove her innocence while falling in love with her at the same time. I loved that the author was able to build this world in such a way that it didn’t require a million words and kept the storyline going with the magical mystery and the spicy romance was icing on the cake. This was a quick and fun read. I look forward to seeing what else this author writes in the future!
Framed is a Paranormal Crime Romance novella by Ivy wynter.
Reading this was like a breath of fresh air! I had never read a book that had these combination if elements in it. It satisfied my craving for a Fantasy/Paranormal, Crime/Mystery, and Romance story all at once.
My favorite part of Ivy Wynter's writing style in this novel is how the world building was sprinkled along the way. I find that to be very refreshing, especially after reading something that may be super description heavy. When reading this novella, I definitely got a taste of both plot & world building/descriptive in a single bite.
Overall, loved the characters, the plot twist, & the justified ending. I would definitely read any other releases from Ivy!

I didn't know what to expect going in (I don't read blurbs) but this book was super cute. The writing is beautiful and flows effortlessly through the story. It has: ✨ Fated mates ✨ Mystery ✨ Magic ✨ Plot twists ✨ Spic I would definitely recommend this for a cute, fast read!
I was given the amazing opportunity to be an ARC reader for this novella and I highly recommend it to all romance, mystery, and supernatural lovers.
From the very first page, you dive straight into this world of magic and mayhem. The pacing is amazing and I found myself invested in the case and in Frederick's sudden, explosive feelings for what seems like a hopeless romance.
The crimes, love and hate, and all the magic involved was absolutely amazing and I read this in one sitting. I kept wanting to know what happened next and didn't want to stop reading 😂 I got a taste of this world and I hope there's more to come from this author as Ivy does an incredible job of introducing a new world and writing characters that you care about right from the start.
Framed by @ivy.wynter.author is a fast paced cozy mystery set in a world with paranormal creatures. The main character Fredrick is a detective in the paranormal a unit. I loved this setting and concept. At times I felt the story was too faced paced. In other words the logistics of the world and magical systems weren't really explain. The characters were lovely and added to the cozy vibes.
