Ruthless Mafia #1

Ruthless Enemy

Rate this book
When Lorelai promised to be mine, I never would have believed that things would end in her betrayal . . . and me spending time in prison for something I didn’t do.

Now I’m out and determined to exact revenge against the woman I’d once loved, only to find out she’d been keeping a secret from me . . . a daughter I never knew I had. A daughter who belonged to me and would now be raised as a Capitani, whether her mother is in the picture, or not.

Lorelai is still feisty, stubborn, and rebellious, and after so long without a woman, I greet her with an angry, hate filled kiss. But once I feel her lush curves beneath me, all I want is to claim her once again. I tell myself the craving is temporary, that once I have my fill of her I’ll sever our ties and keep my daughter with me. . . but I’ve underestimated just how much of a hold this woman still has over me.

The plan should have been simple, until my daughter is kidnapped and held hostage – my life, for hers.

Nobody messes with what is mine.

This means war, and I will destroy anyone who dares to threaten my family.

Ruthless Enemy is the first book in the Ruthless Mafia series. It is a stand-alone enemies to lovers, second chance mafia romance, complete with an HEA and no cliffhangers.

Ruthless Enemy is the first book in the Ruthless Mafia series. It's a dark mafia, enemies to lovers with a second chance trope. This book has lots of fast-paced action, steamy scenes, no cliff hangers, a surprise daughter and a HEA. I gave this book a 3.5 star rating.

Tre Capitani and Lorelai met in high school and fell in love. His family is mafia and hers is the police so they are forbidden to be together. Lorelai's father was shot and killed and Tre was convicted and sent to jail for 15 years. Lorelai testified against him, which he considered a betrayal since he had already proposed to her and what belongs to a Capitani is forever!

Tre is released from jail, finds out where Lorelai is in Witness Protection and goes to kill her. Surprise...he finds his daughter as well so, now he kidnaps the both of them and plans on them being a family. The daughter is kidnapped by a unforseen enemy who actually wants Tre dead.

Lorelai is no weakling and stands up to Tre and his family. The desire is still there between them but will Lorelai survive the threat against her own life in time to see her daughter saved?

Ruthless Enemy is a steamy, dark and second chance sort of romance.

To be true, it took me a while to get into it since I found some parts of it rushed and confusing, and let’s not talk about the male character Name “Tre”; who on heart name its child Tre, which means Three in Italian? And soldatos which means nothing In Italian.

Other than that, I found the plot intriguing even if there were some cliques here and there, but it’s okay; it was a fun and easy read that let me destress from all the crime, thrillers and horror novels I’m used to read.

The drama, the darkness, the steaminess and the strong female character to the thing and made me enjoy the whole, rendering me hooked up and in need of the next one.

This is book one in The Ruthless Mafia Series and it is Lorelai and Tre's story and it is a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. Lorelai and Tre have history as they met in high school fell in love but had to keep there relationship secret because of there backgrounds as Tre is from a mafia family and Lorelai is from a police family as her father is a sheriff but when she has to testify against Tre he feels betrayed and ends up in prison and he is determined that when he is released he will find her and seek revenge only things don't always go as planned because when he eventually finds her he finds out that he has a daughter and that changes the playing field. The chemistry between Lorelai and Tre is still as strong as ever even after all this time but will be be able to forgive her and this be there second chance and become a family only time will tell what the outcome will be for them all. There are twists and turns that have you turning the pages to see what would happen next and I couldn't put this book down as it was so addictive. This is the first book that I have read by this author but definitely not the last and I can't wait to read more of her book's in the future.

I have to admit this was a very interesting read, held lots of potential, but unfortunately, didn’t quite as deliver as I’d expected.

Wish that we could get to see their past on page. I was, in fact, so excited and very looking forward to seeing more of it but sadly, only glimpses, and crumbs, here and there through their mentions. From what I could see, their past was glorious and angsty that made their present a bit, idk, lacking when comparing the two.

Also, spoiler alert, this ended with a cliffhanger, or at least to me it was. I mean, maybe because it wasn’t long enough or maybe the author wanted to save some important events for the next books in the series, either way, a little epilogue into their future, could be a few months or a few years later, give or take, without spoiling said events literally could do no harm you know, would be nicer.

Anyway, this took me a while to finish, because your homegirl now has a job, not as free as I was before, so there were lots of pauses in between but this was, overall, a quite enjoyable read. Just wish that it was more, because it had real potential.

I FLOVED this one!

A second chance, opposites attract love with betrayal, forgiveness, and romance? Yes, please.

These two met in high school. Each of them a complete opposite from the other (one crime family, the other "justice" family). A perceived wrong lands our H in prison. When he is out, he is set on revenge, but can he really do that when he discovers that he has a child with our h and that what she "saw" happen didn't exactly occur the way she thought?

Truths are revealed, forgiveness expressed, and love is shared with this romance story that truly does rely heavily on a LOT of understanding and wanting to move forward on the end of the family of our h.

I enjoyed this fast-paced romance that left me rooting for the couple, sighing in pleasure, and smiling at the ending when they get their reward. I would highly recommend this one. You will LOVE it!

I am grabbing the next in the series.

Unlike most mafia books, this one had characters in their 30s with the secret child being a teen by the time she was discovered. It was a twist that was unexpected and delightful! Loralei sent Tre to prison when they were both just 17 and she was unknowingly pregnant for the murder of her father. Tre got out after 15 years and vowed revenge but changed that plan after seeing her and discovering her “sister” was really her daughter. Tre also realizes he still has feelings for Loralei (hence the romance) and opts to bring them with him. The story definitely isn’t linear and they encounter many twists in their journey, which the author writes so well and engagingly! This is my first McKenna Miller book but I’m excited to dive right into the next two in the Ruthless Mafia trilogy!.

I really enjoyed this book so much couldn’t put it in down at all but it’s really confusing what order to read this series in! I know the author tells us what order at the end of each book but when I personally tried it I was still getting confused. So I guess each person who read this series can decide for themselves. Anyway this book is a wonderful fun book to read as strong independent woman which I always love and another amazing mafia this one has side nobody knows about yet. I personally love how he treats his his woman even after what she puts him through. This book definitely has mystery and other things that we love in mafia books and will have you guessing things through out as read among also wanting to know what happens next!. It’s a quick read too in my opinion

Ruthless Enemy by McKenna Miller is the first book in the Ruthless Mafia Series. It is a stand-alone enemies to lovers, second chance mafia romance, complete with an HEA and no cliffhangers. Tre Capitani and Lorelai met in high school and fell in love. His family is mafia and hers is the police so they are forbidden to be together. However, after years apart they are about to find out that they still have quite a lot in common, a daughter who they now need to come together to protect using both sides of the law. This is a long book filled with lots of interesting writing and plot points about the two main characters to create a well developed story which I will love re-reading. I highly recommend reading this book and finding more by this author. You won't regret it!

First of all, fuck this story.

It's absolute trash in my opinion and it all has to do with Lorelai and Tre. I understand these types of novels aren't at all realistic, but if I have humans in a story, I expect logical reactions. Not whatever the hell this book gave me. You have such a drama filled past and then the author just sweeps it to the side like it's nothing. You also have these so called badass characters who really aren't badass. Lorelai is weak and dumb. She is not strong, nor is she dark. She's a fucking idiot.

Tre is a fucking idiot, too. He falls for Lorelai somehow, even though she's betrayed him. You would think he'd make her work for it, but no. He just falls for her and her dazzling personality.

That's sarcasm.

All in all, this is trash. I dropped 99 cents on this and some other books in the series and I already regret it.

I loved the book it was amazing, the author McKenna Miller really has really brought the characters to life. This story has a lot of action, drama, kidnapping, enemies, anger, fear, courage, strength, secrets, arguing, lust, passion, love, respect, euphoria, and family, Mafia family. Tre and his brother went to jail for fifteen years for killing a police officer and now he is out after doing time. He finds out he has a daughter Brianna so he wants to get to know her and Lorelie. Lorelie was the daughter of the Cheif of Police, she also had kept the story from her daughter that she was her real mother not a sister.. I haven’t read anything from this author so I was happy to try and I really enjoyed this book for the most part. I do love mafia reads. I did find small parts read slow but if you prevail those parts were small. Maybe a bit of editing. The story follows Tre and Lorelai. They met in high school and, for the most part, kept their relationship private as Tre's family is mafia and Lorelai's father is the sheriff which basically put’s them on opposing sides. Lorelai is forced to testify against Tre and his brother and both ended in jail and she has to enter WITSEC. They don’t meet each other again til 25 years later. Lots of twists and turns. I look forward to another.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This second chance mafia romance was a great read! Loved the chemistry between Lorelai and Tre and the love they still had for one another years after they were separated due to circumstances outside of their control.

Lorelai was the daughter of the police chief and Tre was the son of the Mafia boss. They had a romance in high school but when things go awry during a heist, the police chief is killed and Lorelai is forced to testify against Tre, sending him to prison. Fast forward to the present, Tre gets out of prison and tracks her down to take his revenge but gets caught up in his old feelings for her and she is keeping a secret daughter from him.

Lorelai and Tre💕

This book is different from other Mafia books I’ve read. Lorelai is cops daughter and Tre is Mafia their worlds don’t mix but they love each other. Teenage Love.
Tre did 15 years in jail for supposedly unaliving Lorelai’s father. After the sentencing Lorelai went into witness protection and later she find out she was pregnant.

When Tre found out he has a daughter decided to back down from unaliving Lorelai. He wants to become a family.

I would change the title of this book. Tre is not ruthless at all the only ruthless thing to me was Lorelai p*isoning Tre’s brother to put him in his place to make him back off from trying to put h*t out on her.

There is twist on what really happened. Read to find out. Tre got what he wanted HEA with his family.

I always love being introduced to new Mafia books but this one didn't really do much for me. Tre and Lorelai were teen sweethearts who planned to get married and start a family together someday. Unfortunately Tre is part of a Mafia family and Lorelai is the daughter of the chief of police. I would consider this more star crossed lovers who got torn apart by outside forces rather than enemies to lovers. Tre and Lorelai were never really enemies, even when they were mad at each other. Their reunion happened very quickly and any obstacles they faced were also solved quickly. I didn't care for Tre's family so I probably won't read their books.

Excellent and unpredictable
I liked this story by the surprising and interesting side of the reversal of the situation between Tre who the son of a mobster and who comes out of prison to kill his ex Lorelai who had denounced him, but he finds himself sparing her.
Their story seemed difficult to write from this beginning, but finally, it is torrid, intense, more complex than it seemed because of the dangers which threaten them, but also by the unexpected characters of these two characters.

this story was veryy fast paced but it was a short book so…

i like the whole secret child trope, even though brianna was a whole teenager because of the 15 year gap, but i really wish we saw more brianna and tre moments like him getting to know her more.

tre and lorelais relationship was cute, like the parts where it mentioned how they met and their relationship as teenagers

that part at the end with lorelai and the brother…went from 0 to 100 real quick

Didn’t love it, but did like it a lot. First, these Ruthless titles are getting confusing…but that said, this story has legs, has good pacing and gets the job done. Not one of the best books I’ve read from McKenna Miller, but by far not the worst. The standard of writing is high, the characters engaging, the right level of sexy time scenes, and a nicely dark- second chance @romance.

The author writes a nice story but it was so fast and I’m not sure that’s how it would play out in real life (obvi I know it’s fiction) but they just fell right back into each other and no one freaked out really about the daughter thing…
The spicy scenes were very nice and you could tell Tre and Lorelai really had some chemistry!
Lorelai also surprised me with her last interaction with Neil 👏🏻 go girl go!!

Full disclosure that I read these out of order starting with the second book by mistake. Tre and Lorelai's story was terrific. It starts the series off with a bang and just keeps going. I thought their chemistry was great and their connection to each other was wonderful. The communication and willingness to forgive was very well written. Great story!.

This is the first book in this new series Ruthless Mafia. This is a new author for me and I am looking forward to read the next book. The story was a bit rushed for me in some parts, but as it went along it was better. The characters fit well together. This is the story of Tre and Lorelai and their second chance at love. Interested to see where this series will go.

Okay so this is a different take on the whole Mafia romance trope. Lorelei and Tre were lovers until her testimony puts Tre in jail for 15 years. When he gets out his main goal is to kill her but then he finds out that they have a 14 year old daughter together. I really liked the beginning and the different take on this trope but I feel after the twist happened the book just ended too fast and the second half of the book wasn’t developed enough

My Thoughts...

This is my read from McKenna Miller and I didn't hate the book!
I did feel that we could have had more of an ending, it wasn't all resolved and it felt rushed.
Another thing that I had issues with is the repetitive monologue each of the characters had regarding the past and present situations.
Overall I give this books 3.5/4

This is a new to me author and I was pretty pleased with Ruthless Enemies. It's a dark, second chance story featuring Tre and Lorelai. Their history began at an early age and then picked back up again many years later. There's plenty of twists and turns that'll keep you wondering what's coming next. Looking forward to the next book.

I really enjoyed Ruthless Enemy. It was a quick read but lots of tension and spice. I loved that the heroine, Lorelei wasn’t a pushover but a strong woman who came into her own more and more throughout the book and that we got a look at all sides of Tre’s personality, instead of just ruthless mafia son. Definitely looking forward to Neil’s book next!

Revenge

Lorelei betrayed Tre sending him to prison for a crime he did not commit. He could have though. When he finally gets out he has revenge on his mind. His plan to get revenge is to kill Lorelei but then he discovers he's a father. When danger comes for his blood things change.
