This is part of the Billionaire Series but can be read as a standalone. This romantic suspense is hard to put down once you start reading. No shortage of drama or suspense. Secrets to keep you guessing. This was a great book with a secret baby theme. She was pregnant and left without a word because she thought he was involved with the mafia. But was he? What happens when the mafia comes calling? What happens when he finds out that he is the father of her son? Poppy and Chris will take you on an emotional roller coaster but one that ends with an HEA. No cliffhanger. I read an arc via Bad Boy Updates and voluntarily chose to review it.
While the “secret baby” aspect has been done quite a lot lately, this book has an additional element of mob involvement that sets it apart. Poppy is a strong character and a bit intriguing but Chris is a bit weak in my opinion. However he is a sensible and efficient billionaire. Without giving any spoilers - it doesn’t make much sense until near the end of the book. Overall it’s a good read that has some intense key moments. The epilogues are quite good, so worth it to get to the ending. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
This could have been an OK romance, but it irritated me that the couple's problems could have been solved if they had just talked to each other. For that reason, it gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.
Chris was fine, but he should have told Poppy about how he was working to help the police. Because he didn't, she assumed he was laundering money for organized crime -- which was incorrect. I get that she was afraid to confront him, since it could be dangerous. But, if she had known what he was doing, that problem would not have occurred at all.
There were also a lot of editing problems. There were many misspelled or misused words, and some plot inconsistencies. They were all mistakes that a good editor should have caught.
I also thought the sex scenes in this book were way too explicit. I'm not a prude, and I enjoy a good sex scene -- but I don't like it when they are extremely explicit, to the point of being a bit disgusting. I want to read about lovemaking between a couple, not explicit sexual escapades -- because those are not romantic at all.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Held My Interest… Interesting storyline that the author created involving Chris, the billionaire involved with organized crime. To what end he’s involved we don’t know and neither does Poppy, his girlfriend of six months who leaves when she gets wind of this entanglement instead of confronting him. What effect does this have is the basis for the continuation of the story and how the deal with what the passing of time has resulted in. Overall a good story that was laid out well thereby enabling the story to flow nicely from chapter to chapter. The sex is steamy which is an added bonus if you like your clothes melted off when reading those scenes ;) I’m recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. PEACE. Poppy and Chris had the perfect relationship, or so she thought until that one night that changed everything. Now four years later she has a job she likes that lets her take care of her son and keep his safe, and that's enough for now. Things are great until she finds out her firm has been bought out by none other than Chris. The chemistry is still there, but she has kept a secret for four years and can't bring herself to approach him. She ran and never told him why, but now as their attraction grows again the old fear is back and now she must decide whether to trust him with her truth. Things are not always what they seem and when the danger becomes all to real Chris must decide what is most important in his life. Loved this! I received this ARC from Bad Boy Updates.
Poppy thought she had found the perfect guy in Chris, that is until she overheard something she shouldn't have and discovered that he was involved with the mob! She was on the point of telling Chris that they were about to be parents but after what she has just learned, fearing for her and their baby's safety she just runs away, leaving Chris in the dark about their baby.
Poppy gets a job at a law firm and for three years tries not to think of Chris but all that's about to change because he's just bought the law firm making him her boss. Will she tell Chris her secret, would he forgive her, could she and Chris get back together and most important of all Is Chris still involved with the mob?
Poppy is fixing a special dinner for her lover, Chris. She has special news for him tonight that will seal their relationship forever. But she covertly sees him dealing with a known Mafia Lord. She packs her bag and leaves immediately to protect her unborn baby! Less than four years later, she finds that the billionaire has bought the law firm she works for and her boss nominated her to be his liaison. Does he still deal with the criminal? Can she stay away from him until she finds out? Yes to the first question; no to the second! Now what? An excellent read.
This is a great read. Poppy was so happy with her life until she hears her boyfriend talking to a mob boss and she does the only thing she can and that is run. Four years later and she comes face to face with her ex but can she keep their son a secret from him now that they are working together. When he finds out that he is still dealing with the mob she tries to do the right thing but it soon backfires. Can they all make it out alive. Poppy was preparing a special meal when she went out to the garden and saw Chris her partner in the garage with the head of the mob family. Poppy went inside packed up and left. She got as far away as she could then three years later Chris bought the law firm and she was recommended to be his liaison person. When they meet Poppy realises that she still has feelings for him. She accepts the job even though Chris wasn’t going to take no for an answer. This book has everything love, intriguing, hurt and more. I received an ARC for an honest review which I have given
I understood the protagonist's dilemma when she stopped cooking a celebratory meal halfway, packed and ran, after hearing her boyfriend talking in the garage to the mob boss. As a lawyer, she was horrified to hear her boyfriend talking about money-laundering. After all, she had just discovered she was pregnant! I do not want to spoil a good story, so will only mention in passing that while the love betwwen a married couple is very beautiful, the explicit erotica at the end was not a little sleazy, in all its forms, which is why I gave three stars.
Chris and Poppy were dating/ living together until one day she found out that Chris was working with the mob. She packed up and moved away. She was going to give him a surprise but never got to. Years later, Chris became the boss of the company she worked for. She still loves him but she can’t risk her son getting hurt. Will this be their second chance? Or will it end before they have the chance? Love them. I received this arc from Bad Boy Update

He is great with his son but she wants to learn all his secrets so she can keep their son safe. What are his secrets? Will she ever find out? How will she react if she learns everything? See where his secrets lead her
Laura Olsen did a good job on this story, Mr. Billionaire's Secret Baby had a strong plot, Poppy and Chris were good characters, their path was a bit bumpy but they were meant for each other, the connection they had was strong, so wasn't their chemistry, they were good together. I enjoyed this story. Thanks, Laura Olsen. Good work :)
This one has a bit more plausibility, which sends Poppy running and hiding. Until Chris is her new boss (think I would have preferred for him to have actually looking for her).
Poppy and Chris were in love and lived together. She had a secret surprise for him...then overheard a conversation that forced her to leave right then. Four years later, Chris buys her lawfirm and becomes CEO. When they hook back up, it puts her and her son's life in danger. It is a race against time for their lives...how will it all end?
Poppy lives with Chris, who is a billionaire. They are very happy and now she has a surprise for him. The mob. Must disappear. A law firm taken over. A little boy. A job. Meeting the new owner. Found. Lunch. A mobster appears. Who will I tell? To protect my son? No help from the police. Break it off. Keep them safe. More threats. Raids. One left. After her. A gun. Shot. Love wins out.
This story was a little odd. Poppy overhears Chris talking to a mobster and misunderstands what is going on. She runs away and has her unborn child. She gets a job where Chris turns out to be the new owner. She gets involved with Chris again and realizes the mobster is still in the picture. I found that 1. she never asks him why is involved with mobster and 2. Chris never asks her about her son, if it's his child.
If you are looking for a book that literally grabs your attention and keeps it to the very last word than I highly recommend this read. There’s plenty of drama suspense romance and twists in it. not everything is as it seems. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book via Bad Boys Update.

I enjoyed Poppy and Chris story. I loved the idea of a second chance. I thought it was well written and had a great story line. The way that they tried to ignore the pull was cute. The love was great in the story and overall cute read.
ARC Review For honest review this is a second chance romance. poppy McGee finds herself faced with a decision when she finds her boyfriend with a mobster to save her unborn child. Awesome story
