They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but sometimes distance makes people drift apart.

Rope Canutt has announced his retirement from bull riding and is making the most of his final year on the circuit, riding the big shows and resting in between so he can finish the season on a high note. He isn’t sure what’s next for him. He has no plan yet and nowhere to go, especially since his family sold their ranch a few years back.

Jude Sharpe remembers Rope fondly from their younger days in Austin. Mostly he remembers how hot the rodeo cowboy was and how much fun they had hooking up every time their paths crossed. That was a long time ago, and Jude’s been married and lost his husband to cancer in the years since they’ve seen each other. Now he’s raising a son alone.

When bull riding comes to New York City, Jude’s consulting firm uses their private box to entertain clients from Houston, and Jude brings his son Silas along to see the show. Rope is riding and Jude hopes to introduce Silas to a real bull rider. They’ve each lived a whole lifetime apart, and Jude and Rope aren’t sure how much they have in common anymore. So will they be drawn to each other when their paths cross again?

The books in this series are standalones and can be read in any order.

JODI spent too many years in New York and San Francisco stage managing classical plays, edgy fringe work, and the occasional musical. She, therefore, is overdramatic, takes herself way too seriously, and has been known to randomly break out in song. Her men are imperfect but genuine, stubborn but likable, often kinky, and frequently their own worst enemies. They are characters you can’t help but fall in love with while they stumble along the path to their happily ever after.

For those looking to get on her good side, Jodi’s addictions include nonfat lattes, Malbec and tequila however you pour it. She’s also obsessed with Shakespeare and Broadway musicals. She can be found wearing sock monkey gloves while typing when it’s cold, and on the beach enjoying the sun and the ocean when it’s hot. When she’s not writing and/or vacuuming sand out of her laptop, Jodi mentors queer youth and will drop everything for live music. Jodi lives near New York City with her beautiful wife, and together they are mothers of dragons (cleverly disguised as children) and slaves to an enormous polydactyl cat.

I have almost everything that these two authors have written and have read them all more than once. B A does love her cowboys and loves telling us all about them. This sweet romance between Rope and Jude that spans from New York City to a ranch in Texas, is no exception.

Their chemistry is instantaneous, but the men knew that already...they had had short encounters before. Theirs is not what exactly what could be called an instant romance, but perhaps a reignition of that first-time flame that they had let die away due to their youth and other life circumstances.

We now find both men at the top of their careers... Rope, a top-rated rodeo bull-rider and Jude, a New York City financial advisor...and both still have issues in their personal lives. They both are willing and determined to put the necessary work into forming a new relationship despite the things that keep them from "riding off" together right away. Rope is near retirement and has some minor health issues and Jude has a 7-year-old son, Silas, and is still feeling some grief from the death of his husband.

To say that Silas wants to be a cowboy would be an understatement!!! Silas was cute without ever being obnoxious like some child characters in books can be. You could see that Rope, Jude and Silas were a "family", even it was in name only, almost from the very start. Silas actually served as a great connection to the two guys without taking anything away from what was already growing between Jude and Rope... (who names their kid "Rope"?)

I really liked how these two authors just let everything move along smoothly for these three wonderful characters. The entire story was completely low angst...and this one as well as the first book in this series, Tending Tyler, can easily be read as standalones...but the characters do cross over...which is also something that I really like also. The story is a M/M romance, but it also highlights the importance of "home' and "family" with a happy, happy ending. I hope that there is going to be a book #3 ladies!!!

At nineteen in Austin, Jude had a "hot n' heavy" fling with a rodeo cowboy,

and now the rodeo has come to New York City, and so has the cowboy.
They get to see each other again, and their one-night-stand is so great and satisfying, Jude invites Rope to stay a bit. Young Silas, 7, is thrilled to meet a real cowboy.
* Jude, is fit with dark hair and eyes, an ever-present

5 O'clock shadow, and a son to raise alone after his husband died.
* Rope, on the cover, is scarred and bruised,

green eyed a hard core Texan, a champion bull rider with lean muscles, and he's ready to retire.

Today, they meet up at the rodeo, where our men are older, seasoned professionals and still hot and willing. Their magic together is sizzling and full of passion.

Rope is amazing, steps up when the sitter is injured, and is at ease with Jude and cute Silas. Silas is super smart and has the teachers talking about moving him up a grade.

These two guys feel real solid and dedicated to their lives, and as time goes on, they have the serious conversations we want to hear. I liked how Rope explained thing to Silas.
This is a marvelous story of each man's journey and how they chose to move forward.

Our men are making plans, and going to see the ranch, which was complicated by a death. We see their lives melding with love and communication.

This is a low angst, second chance romance.
* I LOVED Rope's Rules for Cowboys !
Silas has a fight at school, Rope has headaches, and we see them handle the small challenges, and then the big ones.

I simply loved this story, and didn't want it to end. It is heartwarming, sexy and fun to watch them fit their pieces together. It's full of happiness and patience, challenges and decisions, which are all met head on and solved.

They were meant to be. Loved it !
Highly recommended.
ENJOY !

Sorry, but I'm so bored and so irritated by various name-related issues in the story that I'm calling it quits.

I love second chance romances but there are certain criteria that have to be met in order for me to love them. I want the MC's reunion to be full of tension and yearning and for me to get a good sense of how much they miss each other and how much they still love each other. Unfortunately, none of these things happened in this book. There are very few details about their first relationship and I never got the impression that it was anything more than a casual fling. I knew that Jude was mourning his husband at the start of this story and that should have been a huge clue that his first relationship with Rope wasn't as big of a deal as I wanted it to be. But I guess I ignored that fact when I decided to put it on my TBR. Lesson learned. Anyway, their lackluster past relationship was only part of the problem. For some reason, the MCs act like they're meeting for the first time during their reunion and that's not what I want in a second chance romance.

In addition, everything was way too perfect and sappy for me. The MCs reunite, they have perfect sex, they get along great, Rope gets along fabulously with Jude's son, Jude and Rope both happen to have plenty of time off from work so they can spend tons of time together etc etc. There was no conflict and I was bored out of my mind.

Lastly - Rope's name irritated me to the point of distraction. Not only is it a stupid name but deciding to name a cowboy character Rope shows a level of lazy story planning that I find insulting. I initially thought Rope had to be a nickname because no parent would be dumb enough to name their child that, but by 25% in there's no sign that his name isn't actually Rope and that's too stupid for me to deal with. I also hated how over the top the authors made Rope's country accent. This macho cowboy is calling Jude 'honey' in nearly every sentence and there's a 'lord have mercy' on almost every page. It felt cringy instead of authentic.

I understand why people have loved this book so much but none of it worked for me, especially in terms of being a second chance romance.

RTC but I really enjoyed this one. It's no secret that I enjoy second chances romances but I really enjoyed how the second romance was done in this one. I liked how it slowly developed over time and how easy it all seemed but also how romantic it all was. I really enjoyed this one. It was so much fun to read and I had a good time reading it.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Getting a second chance at love is a great way to get what you want that passed by in your early life. Rope stayed with the rodeo and Jude followed his plans to New York. Jude lost a partner but has a child to take care of. But once they both realize they are it for one another they start heading in the right directions. A beautiful story about finding your second chance with an old friend.

I did receive an Arc for a review.

This was book 2 in the "Lone Star" series. Rope Canutt has announced his retirement from bull riding and is making the most of his final year on the circuit. I found it funny that one of the main characters was named Rope and he was a bull rider. Jude Sharpe hasn't seen Rope in years they had an on again off again relationship years ago. Jude is going through the motions. His husband died of cancer and he is left to raise his son Silas. He takes his son to the rodeo along with son clients. They say can't believe how good each looks. This was a good read I loved that the author really wrote Silas last me a 7 year old he really liked cowboys. This was a good second chance at love I also liked the secondary characters in this book. I have read both of the authors before. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

So, here’s the thing.

Nothing difficult happens in this book.

Like, yes, the main characters get back together after 20 years apart. But that just happens. And sure, they fall back in love and have The Perfect Sex with each other. And Rope smoothly moves into being a karate dad. And they buy the ranch back. And they visit Texas and it’s perfect. And Jude’s job is great with him moving. And the kid likes Texas. And the manny doesn’t need the job anymore.

It’s 350 pages of cupcakes and cinnamon rolls. And endless rounds of The Perfect Sex.

There are places where I thought we much have some angst. Maybe Rope’s headaches could be a brain tumour. Maybe we’d have Silas do a few rounds of “you’re not my real dad!” Maybe they’d be outed at the gay bar and it’d be upsetting (even though Rope isn’t closeted). Something!?

Nope. All cupcakes and cinnamon rolls.

You might like it. I prefer some barbed wire.

That said, after reading about Texas, I am craving enchiladas.

This book is a new personal favorite by this author duo. It is well-written, low-angst, and really feel good. Jude has lost his husband two years before and he's now a single dad to their seven year-old son. When Jude has a work event that involves socializes at a visiting rodeo in NYC, where he lives, he has the opportunity to reconnect with his former lover, Rope. They had never broken up, but had drifted apart years ago when they were each at a different stage of life and traveling in opposite directions. Now, Rope is planning to retire within the year and Jude has grieved to the point that he's ready to date again. It seems that a future together is impossible since one lives in NYC and the other in Texas, but love has a strange way of working things out. This is a really great love story, the juxtaposition of big city and ranch life is fascinating, and the formation of this new family makes for a very satisfying read.

This is a super-sweet low-angst romance. Jude (a business dude) and Rope (a bull rider) had a thing when they were both very young that just kind of fizzled. Since then Rope has become a champion (on the retirement trail) and Jude moved to NYC, got married and has a son and his husband died of cancer two years ago. Entertaining some of his companies Texan clients at a bull-riding event, none-other than Rope shows up in their box to schmooze. Jude as all nervous but they soon get together and Jude decides to have some no-strings attached sex... which last about 30 seconds until there are very big strings. Rope agrees to stay with him and his son for a few weeks to be a tourist, but when Jude's caretaker has an accident, Rope steps in a surrogate dad and Jude's son is totally smitten with a cowboy.

This probably goes a bit fast, they are pretty committed within weeks, but they did have history so I kind of let that slide. Of course there is some angst about dealing with Jude living in NYC and Rope's story of losing his family ranch when his dad died and being a cowboy at heart. Could he live in NYC after he retires?

I did enjoy the background about bull-riders and what they put up with. Although I think his body would have been less ripped and more scarred mess given the sheer amount of abuse it takes, but Rope rarely eats to keep his body fat to a minimum, and the sheer abuse their bodies take. I've been to rodeos (thankfully never seen a serious injury) but I an only imagine thinking about more closely. So if you are interested in the behind the scenes view it's worth it and if you're not looking for high drama and angst, it's a sweet fun read.

Roped In is the second in the Lone Star series, but works perfectly well as a standalone. It's a sweet second chance, opposites attract romance between Rope - a true Texan bull riding cowboy through and through - and Jude, a city guy living in New York. They were in a relationship when they were younger and both living in Austin but reconnect years later when Rope is in New York for a rodeo event.

One of the things I like about this book, and something that sets it apart from others with the second chance trope I think, is that the first relationship didn't end with drama, which made Jude and Rope embarking on a new, more mature relationship a smoother ride than it could have been. There are events and situations to overcome, as well as some pretty big issues to deal with as the men fall for each other again and have to figure out their future. I really like that the men approach all of this with empathy and lots of meaningful communication.

Rope and Jude are great characters, but I've come to realise (especially as I've read two books of theirs back-to-back) that these authors do write fantastic child characters. Silas is wonderful - a ball of energy, happiness and love. He has a healthy amount of hero worship for Rope to start with, but is able to navigate the developing bond between them and understand the growing relationship between the cowboy and his dad. There are some great side characters, too. I'm hopeful we'll see more of Trent and Angel in future works.

All in all, if you've read any other cowboy books by these authors you pretty much know what you have in store for you…minimum angst, a decent amount of steam and lots of fluff, and all really well executed. Roped In's a lovely, comforting read. 4*

An ARC was provided by GRR. This is my honest review.

This second chance romance has all the feels. I loved Jude and Rope rekindling their friendship and more, and the cowboys all looking out for each other as one big family. There isn’t a lot of angst in the story, and it feels very much slice of life, but that’s also one of its strengths.

I loved how both Jude and Rope aren’t sure the other is still interested in pursuing a relationship and how their spark is rekindled. The scenes with Rope and Silas as they get to know each other are wonderful and sweet. I liked how both Jude and Rope are careful to put Silas first, and how Jude’s late husband is still a part of the story. This isn’t just a romance but a story about building a family, and everything that comes with that like responsibilities and raising a child.

I liked the friendship theme through the story too. Mal and Trent are good friends to Jude and Rope. I loved the banter between Mal and Jude. And I liked Jude’s friendship with Angel, and how he considers Angel’s future as well as his own.

The way everything falls into place re their lives is perfect, and I liked how Rope is good for stressed Jude, and Jude gives Rope the family he never thought he’d have.

I thought the story hit all the right beats for a wonderful feel-good read with realistic characters.

These two MCs, NY city guy Jude and Texas rodeo cowboy Rope, fall in love as easily as rollin’ off a log, honey. I don’t mind endearments, but, ‘honey’ is way down the list. Way down. There is a great deal of country vernacular in the dialogue and narrative. A lot.
Jodi Payne and BA Tortuga delivered a nice low angst and mild second chance story. This couple had drifted apart after a fling in Austin many years before meeting again at a MSG rodeo event. The book had me searching out rodeo events in the D.C. area, lol. 🤠
I enjoyed the emotional story and the good descriptions of scenes and settings. The kiddo was a bright one and was written age appropriate, he talked and acted like a kid. Rope sure did take to being a dad insta quickly. A lot of the book read a bit fairy tale-ish, but this couple seemed to have money to burn and that made their lives extra smooth.
I did like the book, though. A nice comfort read. The dedication was sweet: ‘To our wives’.
I enjoyed looking at cover guy and his beautiful Roman nose.

Roped In is yet another easy, comforting cowboy/rodeo romance from Jodi Payne and BA Tortuga. This one sees Jude and Rope have a second chance at love with a hurt/comfort aspect as Jude lost his husband two years ago and now it's just him and their son, Silas. It's a fairly low angst story with the two men reconnecting fairly quickly and when something happens with Jude needing some support, Rope steps in and stays.
The two men have an obvious connection and a heated history that picks up right where they left off. Rope is coming to the end of his rodeo career and sees his future quite differently now and soon finds himself hoping it includes Jude and Silas. That seven year old is a hoot, totally loving the cowboy from the start and is just cheeky adorableness from the start.
I enjoyed how the story and relationship evolved and though there are no big moments causing major drama, it doesn't stop the feeling of things moving along nicely with enough to keep it interesting. Overall, just like the previous book in the series and their other books like this, I know going in that it will be a hot and sweet romance with some wonderful family moments and entertaining kids. Another recommended read from this writing duo.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

Rope and Jude had a series of casual get togethers when they were younger but nothing serious. They moved on and both went about their lives. Jude married, became a dad to Silas and became a widower when his husband died of cancer. Jude was a rodeo guy riding in professional events. They meet again when Jude takes Silas to a rodeo event that was part of a business outing and meets up with Rope again. Yes, their lives have taken very different paths. But when they meet again there is still a spark there and once Rope realizes that Jude is not in a current relationship they take some time to see if a second chance with a better outcome is possible for them. There is not only good chemistry between the two of them but also Silas and Rope. This family finds a way to be together with some changes in venue that will give them all a chance to build something that is theirs. This was so sweet, positive, sensitive and well told.

Sweet, low angst story about second chances

I really like these authors’ books and this was another hit for me. The chemistry between Rope and Jude was perfectly done and you could see very quickly that these were two people who were getting a second chance to find their HEA together. I liked that it was so easily accepted that things didn’t work out because the timing wasn’t right before and they were simply too young. There’s no regret or recriminations - they simply take the chance they have now and make it work. As usual the theme of found family was strong which I loved(though possibly not quite as strong as other books this author has written). I can’t wait for the next book from Jodi and BA!

Oh I loved Roped In. Jude and Rope were both just so sweet. I loved the pace and mix of New York and cowboying. Silas was adorable and I don’t blame him for loving the cowboy. I liked that the POV switched so smoothly between Jude & Rope and we really got to see what was happening in both their views. Their romance was hot and sweet and super sexy. I loved Trent and hope to see more of him. I loved seeing New York and Texas, both places I have never been but dream of often. Jude & Rope’s perspective made them even more tempting to visit. I definitely recommend this book.

I loved it!

These two authors always give us cowboy magic. Man I was worried about Rope though. You could tell his work was too hard on him mentally and physically. I loved the mutual support. I adore Silas. He’s such a sweet, smart, and thoughtful boy. I do hope Angel visits and I would love for Trent to get a story. It’s so easy to love those cowboys. And I dream of that kitchen lol.

He will get a second chance at happiness

I loved this book! The story of Jude and Rope is one of two men who meet as young men and again later in life. They were together while Jude was in college and after a while went their separate ways - Jude to a marriage and son and Rope to a career as a bull rider. When they meet again, Jude has lost his husband to illness and Rope is on his final year on the rodeo circuit. With a sassy cowboy and a rambunctious seven year old boy, this story is an absolute joy to read! Jude and Rope will get the chance to have their forever together and give Silas the family he needs.

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

these two know their cowboys!

What a great story two lovers getting back together. Rope, our fabulous cowboy, riding bulls into his retirement Jude, our businessman and father, wanting to reconnect with Rope. What starts as a hook up quickly turns into more. It was great seeing some characters from previous stories, Skyler, Pappy (Beckett) and the kids.
I had a great big smile on my face when I finished this book. These two ladies have done it again. I won’t be surprised if more kids become cowboys.

A second chance romance between Jude and R0pe. Jude is a city boy with a son and Rope is a bull rider.
These two met again after separating many years ago with new changes in their lives. Rope is planning on retiring and Jude has a son. The book is romantic, sweet, witty, and funny, with great characters, and the kids in this story steal the show. Even though there is low angst in this book, it still very emotional when it comes to family and life and I enjoyed it.
The collaboration between these two keeps getting better and better and I always look forward to their books.

This story is a good one. There’s a whole lot of settling into domesticity involved here but the development of Rope and Jude’s new relationship is definitely worth a read. And Silas is a sweet little boy. Rope and Jude were once an item but they drifted apart because they had different goals in life. Now they are older and wiser, one ready to retire from the rodeo and one a widower with a little boy just trying to survive every day. Together they rediscover what they mean to each other now and decide to take a chance on making it all work. I loved the cameo of two of my absolute favorite cowboy characters ever, Skyler and Beckett. (Those two wrecked me when I read it. See what I did there? 😉). This is a good book to read if you are just looking for a nice couple book. There’s no drama, no dysfunctional behavior: just two men and a little boy figuring out what they really want out of life. Jodi and BA write characters like no one else and I love their way with words.

A wonderful second chance story.
Rope and Jude have a past history as young lovers, but each went their separate ways searching for what each believed their life goals were. Rope became a champion bull rider and Jude found the love of his life in his now deceased husband Nigel. Their chance meeting at an NYC rodeo event sets the stage for a rekindling of emotions that include Rope not only falling for Jude again but also Jude's precocious 7-year-old son Silas. Honesty on both adults' parts play important roles in their relationship. It boils down to just 2 men adapting their lives to fit each other and a son who is mature beyond his years. Love in its truest sense. I have had the pleasure of reading this as an ARC and these thoughts are mine alone and given voluntarily.

Wonderful cowboy book about second chances and new things. Jude runs into an old flame at a rodeo event. Rope and Jude were so young when the were together before and life has changed drastically for them both. A rekindled romance with a hot cowboy and a son that absolutely worships the cowboy has Jude rethinking everything. Rope is smitten with Jude and his son Silas and they work to build a family together as Rope finishes his last year as a bull rider.

Mixed Feelings

This story is a sweet second chance for Rope, a champion bullrider, and Jude a single widowed father. They had met years before and their relationship had fizzled because of life and timing. Because of a chance rodeo encounter at a celebration for Jude's job, they have the opportunity to be together again.

The core of the story is good. It's a romantic story with entertaining banter and solid characters. However my mixed feelings enter with the believability of some of the situations, especially Rope's eating habbits. There's quite a bit of time spent in this book speaking of his eating habits and his headaches. I find it hard to believe that anyone that claims to love someone that much would just shrug off not only him eating so little if at all, that he completely disregarded the doctors concern about his health, but that he was taking shot from the rodeo doc not even knowing what they were. It all just seems very un realistic. Real loved ones would be so much more concerned.
Also Angel just bowing out so easily bothered me. That seemed way too easy. He's suppose to mean so much to them but suddenly it's "bye I'm out." Left me pretty baffled.

Another amazing read

I so look forward to the release of another book by these two authors. This one lived up to expectations.

Second chance love for Jude and Rope. The history, chemistry, respect and love these two have for each other keeps you glued to each page of this story. You also get one seriously cute, cowboy loving 7-year old, Silas.

You must read this story. You'll love every minute of their love story that spans New York to Texas and some states in between.

A heartwarming story

A tale of two hearts or maybe three from different worlds. This is a low angst drama with some anxious moments. Silas is a delightful and engaging boy who adds humor and joy to the story. Jude and Rope make a great couple. They share an openness to following love wherever it leads them. A light and easy read, A great palette cleanser and break from a sready diet of mysteries and werewolf tales.

totally adorable, well written cowboy romance

Rating: 4.5🌈

Jodi Payne and B.A. Tortuga’s Lone Star series is back with a second chance at love story between former young sweethearts who meet up ages later just when the timing might be right for them to get their HEA.

A longer story, Roped In has the necessary history and time that allows businessman, Jude Sharpe , to reconnect with his former love, rodeo champion , Rope Canutt, just as he’s getting ready to retire.

Jude, a widower and single father to 7-year old Silas, is a man who loves his son, enjoys his job, but is missing that love he shared with his husband who died of cancer. Jude is a well-rounded character, easy to recognize, and connect with. A good man and great father.

And Silas is a utter joy to meet and read about. Especially as he changes, committing totally to the ranch and life in Texas. His goats, his chickens. Adorable.

Rope Canutt is not one of those rodeo cowboys who’s dreading retirement. Instead, Rope has listened to his body, all the injuries and steel plate in his head, and recognized that it’s time to get out while at the top. It’s his last tour for his sponsors and to finish in the money.

It’s a portrait of a smart man , seasoned by years on the tour and the pain of old injuries. It’s a great character and he meshed well with his old flame , Jude.

The walks in the neighborhood in NYC, the visits in the kitchen. It’s a real pleasure watching the men get reacquainted with each other’s lives, seeing the sparks fly, and Rope start to love Silas.

The dramatic moments here are more about instances that happen in daily life. The huge decisions those that couples make when they decide they will make a future together.

The story, the romance, the family, they are all very realistic and wonderful.

It’s a perfect ending. And those that have come to love these cozy romances as well as readers who love contemporary love stories will throughly enjoy this.

I’m highly recommending it.

If you’ve been following my reviews, you know that this author pairing is an insta-read for me. Especially for their east meets west stories, and doubly so when that trope includes a rodeo cowboy. This particular installment of that concept isn’t my favorite so far, but I enjoyed this sweet romance between Rope and Jude that spans from New York City to a ranch in Texas.

The chemistry between Rope and Jude is instantaneous, but the men knew that already. This book is not a second-chance romance so much as the reignition of a first chance that faded away due to youth and circumstances. Now, on the other side of the transition to adulthood, the men are at the peak of their careers but have relatively large holes in their personal lives. Fate may have played a hand in their reuniting, but they both put the work into supporting a new relationship despite the elements that keep them from riding off into the sunset together right away.

One of the heroes is a single parent, and it is a credit to how much I enjoy these authors that I was willing to deal with the typical precocious kid antics. However, the way Rope connects with Silas is integral to the family bonds that form. The kid’s presence also served as a good vehicle to introduce cameos of old favorites in a way that never felt shoehorned (even if I did have a moment of “Don’t you dare, Skylar!” when I thought for a moment he would be riding).

Everything went so relatively smooth through the course of this story that I worried how brutal the dark moment would be. There are no spoilers here, but I will assure readers that while the books in this series are complete stand-alones, they share a relatively low-angst theme. Overall, they also share the main thematic issue of the importance of home and how that location can always change. While the final “conflict” between Rope and Jude is low-key, that does nothing to reduce the poignancy of the men finally reaching their happily ever after together.

What a lovely lush story of a second chance
Firstly let me say I’ve got this book off gay romance reviews and this is me leaving my honest review.
Jude had lost his husband two years ago and was bringing up his husbands biological child Silas. Silas is an amazing child. When they go to watch a rodeo Jude was sure he would bump into some old faces of when he was at the rodeos but as soon as he saw Rope Canutt The amazing bull rider all the old feelings came back.
Rope was in his final season and he wanted to finish it on a high note. His body was a map of old injuries but he was going to achieve his goal. But when he saw Jude at the arena with his son he was first taken aback thinking that he was married with a child. Was his wife at home. But it was like the feelings were still there. After Rope had signed his autograph for Silas and taken him to see one of the horses he didn’t think he would see a Jude again. But the next night he turns up once again.
Jude couldn’t keep his mind off Rope and knew he would have to go back so he found a sitter for Silas and went back to the rodeo. It seems he had a lot of explaining to do about miscommunication. And it wasn’t long until these two were spending time together again. Could there be a future for these two?? Could they have a second chance??

This was a brilliant read It was really lush I found myself liking Jude, Rope and Silas and just found out that they just made this wonderful family in the unit. I like the way they communicated with each other and the way that rope took his time with Silas and explained everything to him. The passion between these two was so off the charts it was just a really lovely read.

This author duo sure know how to write rodeo and cowboys and this story is no exception.

Rope and Jude go way back. They knew each other when they were barely twenty and used to date. I'm not sure how long that lasted but there was history between them for sure.

This is a second chance romance, as they meet many years later, both having been through a lot in life. They're more mature, more settled, and this time they seem to be ready for something more serious.

I liked the family vibe that was present throughout the story, but I wanted more background details about the characters. There were slight plot holes in their pasts, but nothing major. Also, there were issues that were resolved pretty quickly and often without even been mentioned again. Like them deciding to pursue a relationship again. Or the emotional state of Jude who was still grieving his husband and how emotionally invested he was in this new thing with Rope.

One thing I had trouble with was the constant winking of both characters. They were doing that a lot, to the point that it lost its meaning.

I liked the scenes at the ranch and the connection that formed between Rope and Silas. Sometimes his dialogs weren't what I'd assume a seven year old would sound like but it wasn't a constant issue.

I liked Rope and Jude's second chance, their reconnection and their plans for the future. The pace if the relationship was kind of fast but, overall, it was a very enjoyable read.

~ I read an ARC of this book. ~
