Unexpected Attraction

Rate this book
A wild one-night stand on St. Patrick's Day? Check.
A fake marriage with my new boss? Check.
Still not enough? Check - I'm pregnant...

Do you believe in fate?
I always thought it was merely a product of cheesy romance novels and horoscopes.

Then I end up in some random bar on St. Patrick's Day.
And my eyes meet an incredibly attractive stranger.
One drink, a fleeting touch and a wild kiss later, his chauffeur drives us to his apartment - without us even knowing our names.

But what should have been a harmless one-night stand quickly turns my whole life upside down.
Because when I'm introduced to my new boss shortly afterwards, I look into the same deep gray eyes as on St. Patrick's Day.

Logan Walsh, the wealthy CEO of Chicago's most powerful investment firm.
But instead of organizing appointments and sorting files for him, Logan is asking me to do something unimaginable:
In order for him to claim his billion-dollar inheritance, his father's will says he must have a wife.

And that wife is supposed to be me.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have an opportunity to tell him about my secret that’s coming in nine months.

The hopeless resolution to keep our fake marriage strictly professional is quickly put to the test.
We are too close when he leans over my desk, the smell of his aftershave is too seductive, his way of teasing me is too charming.

How is this supposed to work out between us when we hardly know each other?

When Heather goes out on St Patrick's Day by herself to do a pub crawl, she meets Logan. Sparks fly between them, and they end up sharing an amazing night together. The next day Heather is interviewing for an assistant position and her new boss walks in. Its the guys from the night before. Since they didn't share names they had no clue who each other was. Heather thinks she just lost her chance at the job until Logan follows her out to hire her. They try to keep things professional but soon they give into to temptation. Then when he needs to save the family farm Logan asks Heather to be his fake bride. Will things become real between them? Can they get their own happy ending?

This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Fabulous book

Well written with just the right amount of humor and seriousness. The characters were inviting and interesting. Loved the ending and the journey to love and acceptance by the characters ❤️

This was unexpectedly DISAPPOINTING. It started with a bang then it slowly turns into series of snoozefest. And it's difficult to call it romance when it's hardly romantic too.

The main characters got together for the 1st time because of a one-night stand. So it was lust, basically. 2nd time, because they're simply co-workers who are attracted to each other. Strictly FWB here. 3rd time, because they're having a kid together. There was push and pull before they decided what's best for the baby. And all these while they're faking an engagement and sleeping together. The hero went from being the heroine's one-night stand, to her employer, to her fwb, to her fake fiance, and eventually to her baby daddy. I mean 85% of the book and they're still faking their relationship, though.

That's why when they finally (fucking finally!) got together, it's difficult to believe that they're together because of love. Is it really love or is it just marriage of convenience since they work together, physically attracted to each other and are having a baby together. Nothing's wrong with this, a lot of people get married and still in marriage because they have a child together, but it's not necessarily out of "love". Their story, while unique, was poorly executed. Like come on, even the story of April (heroine's best friend) and her husband which the writer unnecessarily shoved us to read was far cuter than the story of the main couple.

The book didn't explain the chemistry between the heroine and Nick (the bartender) nor it elaborates the relationship between hero and his father or even his ex-girlfriend who cheated on him with his best friend. Years of prolonged feud and you're saying it conveniently resolve through a fucking phone call?! Ugh! How dissastifying.

I loved the way this romance started. Heather is such an outgoing, personable, and easy going woman. I was glad to see she wasn’t afraid to go out on St. Patrick’s Day by herself since her best friend is pregnant and couldn’t go out with her. Heather meets Logan at an Irish Bar and had a wild night with him without exchanging names. The surprise they both had when she interviewed for his assistant had to be funny from the outside looking in! Logan had a hard father and Logan seems to be that way to an extent. He makes sure that he and Heather are professional at the office, until he wasn’t. Father’s can try to be so controlling at times and since Logan’s father has a big farm in Ireland his father is trying to force him to marry, have a child, and live on the farm when he dies. As you can imagine, Logan doesn’t take that well. Many of Logan’s actions and beliefs are predicated from his relationship with his father. I loved Heather and Logan together, but they had a rocky path to get to their happily ever after. I enjoyed the book and encourage you to read the book. Unexpected Attraction. I was intrigued with this book. It was a little predictable, but still enjoyable. The characters were realistic and made you care about them and what happens to them. It's St. Patrick's Day and Heather usually goes bar crawling with her friend. But her friend is on vacation with Heather's brother. Now she promised to go bar crawling by herself. At one of the bars, the bartender tells her about a special bar not on her list. She goes and meets a stranger that takes her home. She has a one night stand and thinks she will never see him again. She didn't even get his name. But to her surprise on an interview for a job, they meet again. Things get heated when Logan estranged from his father finds out how sick he is and asks Logan for a favor. The favor is a life changing favor. This is a great read! Chatting to her best friend who is on vacation with her partner (and Heather's brother), she realises that they will no longer be able to fulfil their St Patrick's Day plans. Deciding to head out any way she wears a fantastic green dress and heads to The Maidenhead to start her night out. The bartender directed her to a little Irish pub that she should check out. Loving the atmosphere and a drink bought for her by a fellow patron she heads over to say thank you.

Making the move from his home in Ireland to work and succeed in corporate America has caused a rift between him and his da. After spending the evening with a beauty in the bar with no names shared he isn't thrilled about a call from his da to say that he is in Chicago. Arranging to meet later in the week, the meeting doesn't go well so he hot-foots it back to the office to sit in on interviews for his new PA. Finding that one of the candidates is the beauty that he slept with the other night.

Opting to keep things professional for the sake of the job Logan and Heather find a way to work together. But interference in his life leaves Logan feeling stressed and Heather knows just how to help him let off steam. Needing to fulfil an inheritance clause his da has added to the farm paperwork he asks her to marry him but the mention of no babies in the contract has Heather spinning as she is already carrying his baby. Will Logan be able to deal with this bombshell? And what impact does it have on their fake relationship/marriage?

The title says it all
This is one of those books that grab your attention at the start and gets better and better as you read further.
Heather and Logan meet on St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago when she is directed to a new bar. A little down by the fact that her best friend had just called her to tell her she was engaged, she decides to go. Turns out that this is Logan’s favorite bar where he has stopped after a grueling day. Although Logan is usually reserved, it takes him no time at all to lure the very willing Heather to his apartment. When he is interviewing for a personal assistant a few days later, they are both surprised that Heather is the applicant.
This book is so enjoyable that I couldn’t put it down until I’d read the very last word.

3.5-4⭐️

Heather is out celebrating St. Patrick's Day by herself when she meets Logan at an Irish Pub. They end up at his apartment, no names exchanged just one steamy night together. That's what they thought until she show up for work and meets her new boss Logan. Yes, the same one steamy night guy. I love the chemistry between Logan and Heather and I loved the way the author brought them together. A great well written story, well developed characters, drama, an inheritance, a fake marriage that turns real, a special little surprise, and a great HEA make this a must read. Well, this family was all kinds of crazy and chaotic! Logan with his dad, loud Irish relatives and trifling ex-best friend and Heather - bless her heart - being swept up in all of it. When it mattered, tho, his family was there to welcome her and their baby with open arms. I did get a bit confused with all of the talk about them being married and then only engaged but married?? And the potty language wasn't cute either.

I had my reservations when it came to Heather in the book prior, but after reading her story, I really liked her. I loved Logan, how behind all that bad ass boss and businessman he has a soft spot for Heather since the beginning. Their story evolves rather quickly but I love how we still read about other characters. This was a light read, and exactly what I was needing. I would def recommend this book, and any other book by this author as I have read most of them.

surprise!

Surprise one night stand, fake proposal, real pregnancy, fake real wedding wedding, Irish. A little of everything. It had the stuff but nothing was over the top. The female was a little off and Not as strong as I like and the male was a little just eeh I actually liked CJs character better. I just didn’t feel the love. But the story had a HEA. And the Irish family was cute.

Heather and Logan have some amazing chemistry. When they first meet the interaction is hot and heavy. I think the turn of events that took place was really funny, I love the oops I accidentally slept with my new boss trope. I liked seeing April from Unexpected Surprise. You do not have to have read Unexpected Surprise but it makes this book that much better after the trouble Heather gave April in that book about the very similar situation.

I read this as part of ARC. This was another great book from Mia! Logan is a pretty closed off CEO that meets Heather & she turns his world upside down! First a one night stand then the next time they see each other is in an interview being for his assistant! Lots of ups & downs to get an HEA! You have to read this!! Its GREAT!!!

nice read

Overall this book was good. The beginning was excited and had me hooked. I think the last 3/4 of it lacked some pizzazz. It was nice though to read a book that did not contain a huge amount of drama and was just a nice true love story.

Leichte Lektüre, wenn man nicht großartig nachdenken will. Startet amüsant, bleibt es auch im mittleren Teil, schwächelt am Ende. Kann man lesen, muss man aber nicht.
