My smile is so big I can’t even contain it. This is just the sweetest series. I just love them and it. The romance is just so lovely and the art is lovely too. Ahh I’m so glad that these two are being honest about their feelings
I am late to the party with this series, but OH MY LORD I HOPE WE GET PHYSICAL PRINTS OF THIS ONE!!! Ran and Akira have such a pure relationship. Having it all center around flowers and their meaning just truly makes my heart swoon so much! This series has more dynamics than this pure relationship, but I truly enjoy it so much. I have a hard time forming my thoughts. Once I get them more sorted out, I will update this review.
I've expected Takamine to be hard on herself because she's not good at expressing her feelings to people and she keeps putting herself down by thinking that she's bothering Saeki. But she tried her best and I love her so much for that.
It's also nice to see Saeki's POV (and yay he obviously loves her too) and knowing the reason why he's holding himself back so much. I hope that he'll stop feeling guilty towards his mother someday; he deserves to enjoy his youth too.
cuteeee! pretty mellow addition to the series, but still had its moments. i really do love the use of flowers throughout when expressing their emotions, like sunflowers used again at the end of this volume! gotta respect a classic class-fieldtrip-fall-into-a-ditch trope. at least they were able to get out and it didn’t start raining lol.
the author’s note about her cat was adorbs. big ups.
large aside: as my next-room neighbour knows, i’ve been reading ‘the fragrant flower blooms with dignity’ (mini review: it’s cute, easy to read fluff albeit overhyped imo) and i was reminded of this while reading. male lead helps at the cutesy family business that no one really knows about except the female lead who is a far-off responsible beauty. i think one of the title translations is the mountaintop flower which reminds me of it too. anyways, just an observation from me🤗
What I like in this manga is that it does feel realistic and it includes scenes that could happen in real life. When we have a crush in high school, we all have this period where your friends bombard you with questions about the person you like, which is annoying the most of the time, especially if you want to keep things to yourself. Here, both Ran and Saeki’s friends asked them questions about each other and the conversation between Saeki and his friends was funny. I like that they were more present in this volume since they were absent in the beginning, we see them interact between one another without Ran or Saeki there, therefore they talk about what they think about them, about Saeki and his past especially.
It’s rare to see the portrayal of a relationship between parents and children in manga. In a lot of cases, the parents are not even present or are a source of conflict that prevent the couple from being together or that keep them apart. Here, Saeki’s mom is really supportive and involved in the manga. I love the relationship they have together which I found realistic.
And guyyyyys, the scenes between Saeki and Ran. My heart. The dialogues are cute, the drawings are good like, is there something I don’t even like here? No. I like that even if the two make mistakes, they talk about it later on, they communicated between one another. They have a healthy relationship. I can’t ask for more than that.
And the end!! Why didn’t I buy volume 4? Now, I want it so bad! (Since then, I’ve fixed the problem and bought volume 4 and 5).
A bittersweet volume. Ran won’t confess because she’s afraid that Akira wont spent a lot of time with his family. Not only Ran and Akira are precious but also both of their familes are precious too!
Reading Ran’s thoughts bring back memories. Being young is also vulnerable. For this kind of emotion, people arround you will say that you're just being childish. But the truth is having a young heart means you are still new to handle this kind of feelings. You also don't how to escalate them properly mostly if you bottled it up by yourself. So young people, if you dont have the courage to tell that special someone about your feelings towards them, PLEASE, don’t hesitate to share it with your close friends or family! It’s painful to keep in inside just like a broken heart.
The confession part is so pure. I’m also glad the heart-related problem wasn’t dragged out. Makes me want to learn more about flower language cause what Akira did is the smoothest flirtation I have ever read. Presenting Ran the Sunflower during the confession: I’m only looking at you.
Reading high-school-love manga makes me wonder what did I do to not experience this during my highschool days? *sigh in triple sadness*
