I quit my job and skipped town altogether when I found out my infuriating ex had become my new boss. I didn’t tell anyone, didn’t pack my things, didn’t have a plan.
Was it the smartest thing I’d ever done? No.
But I managed.
I settled in a bigger city and landed myself a cushy gig caring for Charlie Bishop — a sweet little old man searching for companionship and someone to look out for him.
Bills paid, a roof over my head, and a derpy dog to amuse me? Sign. Me. Up.
There was only one problem.
Charlie’s devastatingly handsome and ridiculously grumpy son lived there too, and he was determined to make my life a living hell.

Bring it on, big guy. I could do this all day.

****This includes a BDSM relationship and a whole lot of praise.

Jensen is quickly becoming an insta-read author for me. I love how she does her characters: They are funny, sweet, complex, and sexy.
This is a perfect grumpy/sunshine, boss/employee, banter-filled, light BDSM novel that made me swoon, sploosh and sob at various points. Basically, I need to hydrate after reading this. The tension between Zeppelin and Sterling was 🔥 and when it finally hit I was a soggy mess.

Bonus points for great side characters in his brother, Ollie, and father, Charlie who played cupid.

I say this a lot about Octavia’s books, but this was her best work yet. This sweet, funny, steamy story has it all. Zeppelin and Sterling are grumpy sunshine to a T, the banter and tension are DELICIOUS and the side characters are funny and well thought out. And the spice oh my god the spice. 🥵🥵🥵 Grab this one, you won’t regret it.

I wish I could give it way more than five stars because it was just beautiful. I loved it so much. Zeppelin and Sterling had such a beautiful romance and I loved their banter. Sterling’s father Charlie was hilarious and I loved him too! I don’t know how to describe it other than wonderful and beautiful. Please do yourself a favor and read this book!

Sterling and Zeppelin have my whole heart!!!

After realizing that her ex fiancé is her new boss, Zeppelin Bryce makes the drastic and sudden decision to quit her job and hightail it out of the town of Point Isly, where she’s lived all her life. She finds herself in Brisley, where she ends up switching careers and becoming a caretaker to a sweet and lovable man named Charlie Bishop.

Only problem is that Charlie’s son, Sterling, seems to hate her, and she doesn’t know how to earn her trust. As time passes, Zeppelin and Sterling grow closer, and their attraction only grows stronger. Will Zeppelin finally find a place where she belongs after all? Or will Sterling’s broodiness and hesitation destroy them both?

Holy. Freaking. Heck. This author has quickly become one of my favorite romance authors of all time, and King Hunt might actually be my favorite one yet!!! Zeppelin and Sterling’s story was deliciously slow burn and amazingly written, and I loved every second of it. The steamy scenes were absolute perfection, and the romance superb. This book also had so many laugh out loud moments to break up the angst, a fact I thoroughly enjoyed.

Zeppelin. Oh my god, never have I found a heroine I could relate to more. Her thought process is honestly so similar to my own, which I loved. She’s so sweet, although her bratty side definitely shows with Sterling. I loved her! Sterling. He’s literally amazing, like could I even ask for a more perfect man? He’s a little growly, yes, but that just adds to his charm. I also loved his stubbornness and the way he didn’t let Zeppelin get away with anything. Go read this right now!!!!

It had a promising start. I thought this would be a good enemies to lovers romance with amazing chemistry but after a few chapters it all just fell flat. This had great reviews but where a lot of comments mentioned amazing spice, funny sassy heroine and a beautiful romance I just didn’t get it. It was ok, but far from great. Also the BDSM stuff was promising but it just didn’t work for me, was a little cringy sometimes in the way Zepplin carried herself and the things she said…hard to explain.

POV: Dual, 1st person (mostly told from h POV).
SERIES or STANDALONE: 1st in series, can be read as a standalone.
TROPES: M/F adult, grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers, kinky (BDSM) romance.
SIZE: 286 (last page) Kindle pages.

PLOT: 📚📚📚/5
ROMANCE: ❤️❤️❤️❤️/5
SPICE/STEAM: 🌶🌶🌶/5
TRIGGERS: 😈/5 (death of a parent)

MY STORY SUMMARY:
Zeppelin needs a fresh start after discovering her new boss is her ex that cheated on her & dumped her. She finds a job is Brisley caring for Charlie. Charlie loves with his son Sterling who immediately dislikes Zepp as he knows exactly why she was hired. Zepp loves Charlie and her job but she she spends more time with Sterling they both can’t deny their attraction towards each other and soon their feelings evolve into something much more.

⛔️ My bookshelves can contain spoilers.

Great amazing read!

Slow burn, "not friends" To lovers with funny and sexy banter.

The h started a little awkward but turns out great.

The H was a Dom so there's some BDSM parts that are HOT HOT and nicely done.

I made it to 67% and I don’t even know how I got that far. The story felt so disjointed and choppy. The dialogue was so immature. I mean the “snoring” thing could be a funny euphemism the first time they talked about it, but the stupid joke went on and on like they were a couple of 12 year olds. The whole dom/sub relationship felt really out of place and neither of them were convincing in their roles as such.

I've read a few books like this, but never with the amount of aftercare this book gave! I loved it so much. I had it recommended to me through a facebook group and its definitely become one of my top books of 2022! I could read a 20 book series just about these 2!

This is my first book by Octavia Jensen and wow! I loved every second King Hunt!! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!

Zeppelin quits her job after finding out her stupid ex is her new boss. Tired of where her life is going or not going anywhere, she picks up and leaves the town she has called her home all her life. She stops in Brisley and decides this town is where she is going to live and make a new life for herself. Zeppelin finds a new job with a sweet and old man named Charlie Bishop. That's where she meets one of his very handsome son's, Sterling. Sterling does not like Zeppelin because of her quirky personality and her love of her "rainbow" Crocs. However, they both learn to get along to the point where their attraction grows to a loving relationship.

This is definitely a slow burn that is packed with angst, steam, and funny moments where I was laughing! I enjoyed reading the side characters especially Zeppelin's best friend Kylie and Sterling's younger brother Ollie. I also loved Charlie's dog Carl even though he was more of Sterling's dog haha.

The way this book was written just pulled me in and it did not let me go until the very end. It was amazing! The characters were wonderful and real! I definitely recommend! I can say I have a new favorite author!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 🌶🌶🌶 /5

TW - death of a partner (also a parent, heart attack, recounted & mentioned throughout), grief, finding a parent’s dead body (recounted), gambling addiction (secondary character, mentioned briefly), death of a parent (mentioned briefly), parental abandonment (mentioned briefly), a parent who needs elderly aid (throughout, plot point)

CW - D/s, spanking, edging

Tropes - workplace, forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine, possessive, jealous
"Things don’t just happen because they’re supposed to, they happen because we fight for them. We work for them, over and over again, day in and day out. And we don’t give up.”

👅👅👅👅

Zeppelin (FMC) is leaving her home town because her ex is an asshole (valid) and she can't be asked to deal with his bs anymore (again, valid). She ends up in a bar, joking with a man about roofies and applying for any job under the sun because she left home with no plan. An application asks her for her love language (physical touch (same)) and this is the job she lands, an elderly aid for a v v v sweet man named Charlie Bishop.

Charlie has two sons which brings me to the MMC, Sterling Bishop. Hottie, and owner of an investment banking firm, wearer of suits and an all around grump who hates Crocs (criminal) and has never dealt with the grief of losing his mother.

The innuendos between the MCs were flying left, right and centre and I was LIVING for it. Sterling doesn't want to hurt anyone or let anyone down and Zep decides that it's time for a King Hunt to get the man that she wants.

Not only are they hot together, they are so fucking cute I was giggling into my hands reading this. I always love the way Octavia writes smut that involves any kind of BDSM elements and the emphasis on communication and consent. Sterling is hot and a great Dom, it was nice to see him communicate when it came to this because he's kinda shit at it when it comes to his feelings 😅

I also loved Zep and Oliver Bishop (Charlie's other son) become friends and I can't wait to see what he's like in his book, Exposed King

Scale:
⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite
⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

🫑 - no smut
🌶 - no point
🌶🌶 - mediocre at best
🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot
🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - fuck me 🥵🥵 CWs / filthy with a side of filth - see Poison / Room Twenty-Two: Hide and Seek

loved Zeppelin

Octavia has written a great heroine in Zeppelin! Strong but vulnerable. The book starts off with her pining for her ex but when she finally reaches a breaking point, she simply quits and leaves to start over someplace else. I love that she wasn’t a doormat with her ex. And she certainly wasn’t a doormat in her new job caring for an elderly man over the objections of his son Sterling. I agree with other reviewers who found the shift to heavy emphasis on a mild BDSM relationship between Sterling and Zeppelin a plot detour I didn’t see coming. It basically took over the last half of the book. I don’t mind a BDSM relationship, but it wasn’t necessary in this book and I think the book might have been better without it, as we had enough plot and slow burn romance going without it. I loved the secondary characters of the dad Charlie, brother Ollie, bf Kylie, new friends Kapri , Jake, and even Caffrey. There was no cheating between the MCs (past reference with her ex) and no ow drama. **spoiler: Imo, the book suffered because she never had a final conversation with her ex. He chased her down and asked for 5 min but she didn’t give it to him. I would have enjoyed really hearing what he had to say and what he was thinking, as I found his behavior puzzling after 4 yrs of silence and ignoring Zeppelin. It didn’t really make sense to me and I felt it was left unresolved. For example, I was wondering if his marriage was failing and that made him turn to Zeppelin and finally appreciate her, or if he was a total sleaze who planned to make Zeppelin his work-wife and/or mistress. His obsession after 4 years really made no sense and it would have been a stronger book with a better resolution to this plot. For these reasons, I gave it a 4 star review. The book was well written and edited, which I appreciate. Now I’m ready to read Ollie’s story!

Fine but at the halfway point not interesting enough for me to keep reading. The FMC has a wildly unlikely name - Zeppelin, poor child - and flees to the MMC's small town/city for absolutely zero reason other than getting away from her previous place of residence, then finds herself unable to land a job (so maybe go somewhere else?) until she's hired by the MMC's father, an elderly person who basically fulfills the cardboard plot moppet role, i.e. an unrealistic small child who is bizarrely invested in trying to get the two leads together. Apparently there's BDSM coming down the pipeline, but I still don't understand what's going on with these two - the MMC is just basically a jerk, and the FMC alternates between hating him and aggressively (sometimes inappropriately) flirting with him.

One thing I've noticed I find really annoying about books like this is when the heroine is a middle-class, well-educated, financially-stable white woman placed into a service role for plot reasons - it feels like the author is afraid to actually address the issues it would create if a book's MMC aggressively flirted with/initiated a sexual relationship with his father's caretaker if said caretaker was, you know, actually dependent on her income from this job or treated her job with any professionalism. Suddenly it would be a dark romance instead of a flirty romcom. I get it, but I also don't like it. Anyway, not for me.

“Belladonna. I named her after a poison because she’s the fastest way to kill the need for a boyfriend.”

I absolutely loved the characters in this book. Though the side characters may not have gotten enough time, the main characters were fantastic.

Charlie is my favorite. He’s a little old man with a heart full of love and mischief. He wants his boys to be happy. I just adore him and his relationship to Zeppelin.

Zeppelin, I was worried she’d be a weak female with the start of the book but she proved to be strong and passionate and a little spitfire when needed. She also knows how to work her inner brat.

Ollie is something else. I kinda wanna smack him and talk some sense into him, but since I know the second book is his I’ll let it go. LoL. He’s a fun brother to Led and I love him for loving her.

Sterling is a dick at first. I understand why but I also wanted to shake him at times. Lmao. He’s a good guy and proves to Led that she is so worth all the love she needs.

All in all I loved the funny, quirky, adorable, bratty, dominating, and sweet parts of this book.

I rarely give reviews in this genre - and even more rarely rate spicy romance reads with 5 stars. King Hunt is definitely the exception. Set aside the Jensen Ackles/Supernatural references (swoon!!), I related to Zeppelin's character and lived vicariously through her submission.

This was one of the few times I struggled with letting a story end. I know- I know, Ollie is next, but can I have some time to grieve a bit over the SNAP. My god, parts of me simply drool at the thought. #TeamSilver #IYKYK

When she leaves her small hometown to get over heartbreak Zeppelin finds a new life. As a caretaker for Charlie, she learns there is so much more to life than she's ever let herself live. Sterling struggles with the responsibility of taking care of his dad and keeping his brother out of trouble. He finds a new way to love and let someone in with Zeppelin. Their chemistry and the bond they find is truly heartwarming.

Once again the amazing Octavia Jenson has sucked me in and has me wanting more. I love how she writes a book and you love the main characters but you want just as much of the side characters. I love a grumpy I don’t want to be in love H and a super sweet h. You know when they come together it’s going to be off the charts 🔥🔥🔥. Also can we just all agree that Charlie made this book a 1000 times better!

I got to 20% and had to dnf. Literally nothing was happening. She quit her job because her ex was now her boss in a rinky dink small town. She has no plan when she goes to a bigger town and gets a job as a companion to an elderly gentleman with two sons. One likes to habe sex with women and likes the Latina variety. The other is hard working and suspicious of the h.

Okur 😬 so boring

I was looking for something a little bit spicy and kinky, and whole this does tick the boxes, there was something missing, I just didn't feel the emotion.

Good characters, enjoyed Charlie and Ollie.

Kapri was an odd side character, there but not really.

And David... We never found out what he really wanted which was a bit of a let down.

Okay Story

Sterling and Zeppelin. He’s stern and closed off due to something that happened in his past. She’s looking for a job after leaving the small town she lived in and a jerk of an ex-boyfriend. She gets hired to care for his dad. Attraction is there. Time goes by. Things develop. I just felt that something was missing as I read the book, but I’m not sure what.

I’m just going to come out and say it. Y’all are sleeping on King Hunt by @authoroctaviajensen!!!

This book was recommended in a KU group I’m in on Facebook and I decided to give it a try because I was in a smut slump post Salt Kiss. Whew did this book deliver!

I will get to the tropes in a minute but please know this book is so much more than a smutty read. I cried multiple times. It has so many themes of grief, loss, healing, and the messiness of family life. It also has the cutest old man and dog combo 😍 It was just so heartfelt and I adored it!

Okay so let’s talk tropes because there were some good ones:

✔️grumpy x sunshine
✔️workplace/billionaire romance
✔️dominant x submissive
✔️ touch her and die vibes

This one is spicy and sweet and I cannot recommend it enough! Let me know if you read it so we can scream about it together 🥰
