Nicole Lam is a romance author who loves nothing more than, well, love. In her books, you’ll find emotional twists, heart-rending drama, and two broken people who find each other and choose happily ever after in spite of their problems. Her books feature heartwarming, relatable characters, swoony kisses, and no explicit scenes.
When she’s not writing, you can find her staying in her house for three-quarters of the year to avoid the Canadian winter, curling up with a good book, or learning yet another language.
I actually really loved this book. The plot was solid and the main character, Antonio was created with a lot of depth. I liked the Antonio and for some reason he was more relatable than Christina. She was really cute though. I also love how the story plot and scenes were done as a clean read. It had all the makings of a dark, steamy romance, but because of the writing, I didn’t miss any of that. Overall, I was entertained and although the grammar and punctuation… etc, needs some work, I loved this book!❤️❤️❤️
I read this book for the first time on Wattpad and fell in love with it immediately! Antonio is such a swoon-worthy character! And everytime he called Christina 'sweetheart' I couldn't help but swoon! I'd highly recommend this Christian Romance to anyone who loves faith based romance and baddies to goddies! I just love the way God used Christina to change Antonio and the faith elements are just perfect!
The Mafia Boss and the Christian Girl hooked me faster than the first book in the series did (you can blame it on the date and action of those first few chapters. 😉) Speaking of, I think they also helped since they're on the shorter side, and despite this book being told in multiple POV (surprisingly enjoyed Lucas and Destiny's), the chapter is divided in max two POVs, so that makes it feel shorter.
I think this was my first mafia romance book, and with it being Christian, I didn't know what to expect but ended up enjoying it. Christina and Antonio's story certainly felt unique, and I loved both how he found her intriguing and fell for her first, as well as her struggle to be a light in her current circumstances (these are human characters after all, and thus the struggles and failures are clearly portrayed).
There's a bit for everyone and this story includes romance, action, suspense mixed with "the Feds are involved," sprinkled humor, series plot twists and revelations (loved to see past characters, but did not expect it to be in those circumstances), as well as Christian faith that was convicting at times.
If you're reading the series, you definitely need to read this one as well since I finally understand how it ties up to all of it, lol (it really is #2). Now onto Abigail's story. :) ~ 4.5 stars
Content: Violence: different persons being shot (some end up dead) Language: d*mns Other: mention of drinking throughout the book (mostly wine and champagne)
more Catholic than Christian fiction. ALSO IF a guy commanded me like that irl I might definitely would slap him... this tho was annoyingly attractive. also loved seeing Kat and Alex again though it took me a while to remember the connection... didn't like how tina went behind his back... and didn't like Sutherland either... but yeah. also i felt like we needed more on destiny. unless that'll be resolved in the next book. also quite a few spelling/grammar errors. but overall good book. had me gasping and rigid with tension and apprehension w/ those suspense scenes at times.
Where do I start? The hero is a mafia, drug dealer, murderer, kidnapper, bad guy.
The book jumped around a lot. Each scene was just a few pages. Things were not explained well.
At the end of the book we learn their first kiss had been her first kiss. However, she had had a boy friend for years before that, who was an FBI agent. Really they never kissed.
No, all I did was sit in the pews and pray and soak in God’s presence. The very thing I had been forbidden for so long, thinking that all the people there would turn me away, and with good reason to. It was like drinking fresh water after ingesting nothing but the ocean for years. Finally, I had something real, something substantial, something that could sustain me, nourish me.
Thank you, Nicole LAM, for this beautiful 😍 story ❤️ 💖 💕
Liked the characters and the premise of the story. In the end, there was too much going on. Not enough time to develop everything. There was a lot that had to be assumed or figured out. Some things never made sense at all. I really wanted to skip portions, but I was hoping for some explanations that never came. The mistakes were also a big distraction. Information was incorrect, typos and word usage throughout the book were distracting.
I enjoyed this book! But I feel like its not very Christian. Some things I don’t really agree with in the book it just feels a little lukewarm, or more worldly to me. It was very confusing for me at some points. There were so many characters to keep up with, and so many different stories being told at one time. If you read to the end it kind of all comes together
I was drawn in by the cover and I liked parts of it, but it was definitely cheesy in a cringe type of way versus a hallmark way. Unfortunately, also lots of distracting grammatical and spelling errors that took away from the story.
I really liked this book! This is the second book in the series. It brings back a few people from the first book and introduces more people. The story line is great and action packed.
So many typos, confusing POVs & all around just didn’t seem like it was proofread whatsoever. I wanted to like the book, even now, I wanted to figure out why she needed to stay with the Antonio; but with everything else, I couldn’t bring myself to finish it.
I truly did love the characters but the plot, long extended story, and grammar errors ruined the understanding of the book for me. However, this book did have some good qualities and entrainment.
Did I enjoy the book? Yes, I’d say I did, but it wasn’t my favorite. There were quite a bit of gramatical mistakes throughout the writing and a repeated paragraph. Although, no one os perfect, but I’d say the book could’ve gone through one more revision beforehand.
Now, the character’s within this book, wether it was the protagonist or a side character, they contradicted themselves at time with either things they mentioned throughout some chapters. I definitely feel like this problem could’ve been avoided with an extra revision.
Now comes the part that made my rating 2 ⭐️. I feel like I missed something when it came to the Steeles story being interwined with this book. Yes, it’s a series, and they and there were two clear points that were made as to how the two book connect with one another. However, there’s one plot hole that I can’t seem to wrap my head around and that’s chapter 40. No spoilers of course, but when did any of the members of the Cavalli family mention that there was plan/bargain going on. It was mentioned in any previous chapters until now. I especially thought that I was going to have an answer to a question in the first book in the series, which is one of the clear points that was made, but it didn’t dive deeper into what was said in the first book. I definitely feel like the question could’ve been answered here, then again, there’s one book left in the series that involves the Steele family, so I’m hoping to get some answers there.
Not only that, but there’s was quite a few things that were left unsaid/unfinished, but then again, this wasn’t their story so I understand.
Overall, I’d rate this book a solid 2 stars. Is it a nice story? Yes, but it could’ve used some more work.
One of the WORST books I ever read. It was horrible. Just horrible. The writing, the plot - everything was just bad. I skipped through the whole thing. This feels like this is a wattpad story written by a pre-teen. Even wattpad has some better stories than this. I give it a 0.5/5.
I actually really liked this book it’s hard finding clean mafia books and I’m so happy I found one! Hopefully I can find more but I loved everything there was grammar errors which is fine it’s no biggy it’s still a really good story!
We started out pretty strong, though I am sad to say this poor book desperately needed editing on a variety of levels, I enjoyed the premise and most of the plot. However it ended up being a dnf towards the end.
