Cate has been hurt more times at romance than anyone should ever be hurt.
Then she meets Dr. Derek Coburn.
Does showing up at the E.R. if there is nothing wrong with her count as a date?
Just asking ...

This is the story of Cate Adams and Dr. Derek Coburn from Take Another Chance - Book 1 in the Second Chances DO Happen! series.
After watching her mom's devastation from a divorce, Cate vows to never let a man get that close to HER.
So, it's no surprise when her dating life turns out to be lackluster (severe understatement!)
That is until she meets Dr. Derek Coburn, a hunky emergency physician extraordinaire.
Both of them have been hurt in the past. Yet, something stronger than their fear of being hurt draws them together.
Unfortunately, life has that funny way of throwing up roadblocks when least expected.
Can their love overcome outside factors set on destroying them?
Do they dare take another chance?
Sometimes taking that leap just seems too painful ...

To Heal A Heart is a contemporary clean and wholesome romance about a young woman who finally finds love with a billionaire emergency room doctor. Her extended family actually gives them the opportunity to meet after her sister's minor motorcycle accident. Add in a K-9 rescue shelter and some hunky war veterans for all the feels!
There is a bit of spice in their romance, and a few swoon-worthy kisses, but no explicit words.
And, as with all Pat Adeff’s books, there’s a wedding at the end!

Cate trains therapy dogs to heal other people's hearts, though her own remains lonely.

Derek is an ER doc whose hands have been touched by God. Yet somehow he only attracts women interested in his Midas touch.

When Cate and Derek meet, they both experience an elevated heart rate. She's a virgin. He's a surgeon. What could possibly go wrong? Everything!

Contemporary romance novelist Pat Adeff specializes in writing "second chance" love stories. Past wounds, imperfectly healed, can get in the way of new love. Sometimes we have to rip off the band-aid, and risk reopening old scars, to earn the second chance at love we deserve.

Although at times it can feel a little repetitious if you have already read the previous book, "Take Another Chance," of which this tale is a spin-off, "To Heal A Heart" is nevertheless a fun and steamy yet clean and wholesome romance, written with a wonderful depth of feeling that's bound to stir those of us who may be a little over the hill, but still have a pulse.

This latest book in the Second Chances Do Happen series features Cate, a woman keeping love at bay, and Doctor Coburn, a man who's been burned by a cheating ex. Can the pair overcome past hurts to let love triumph?

I enjoyed the twists and turns of this gently-paced romance, perfect for a relaxing read. From an unexpected divorce, a potentially life-changing car crash, and an unstable boyfriend, this book kept me engaged from start to finish.

Adeff has crafted a novel that should please fans of easy-going romance. The characters showed real human flaws and a desire to find true love despite obstacles that resonated with me. And there are cute therapy dogs too! Nice.

Hearts can and will be healed

This is story of love for anyone deserving of it. Some guys and girls have ignorance of what loving means but that doesn't seem to cross their minds!edit
So when the right guys meet the right girls, it feels a lot like what they had thought love would be!
Read along for a number of matches between people who are meant just for each other....ENJOY THIS ROMANCE as I did.

Good Read

Enjoyed Cate and Derek, they came from two different backgrounds ... But they were meant for each other. This is my first book by Pat Adeff she did a fantastic job with the storyline.
Cate last boyfriend was weak and Derek had been engaged to a person who only thought of herself and social standing. These two people were meant for each other. I loved how their families were always there for them, especially their mothers. YOU will totally enjoy this book. ENJOY!!!!

Another Good Read."

Great addition to the 'Second chances do happen " series. The family characters are warn, believable, have great sense of humor and are very down to earth. The "bad girl" was bad and paid for it at the end. Fun easy book to read.

Trust, Honestly and Patience

A hard lesson to learn, but for this couple it paid off in spades. This second chance has been the best so far. The others are good, but this one gave you more of what happened after the "Love Connection."

DNF. Stopped after a few pages. Something about the author's writing style that I didn't like. It wasn't smooth and didn't flow. Almost felt like reading a student's essay.
