To save a woman from being kidnapped, Officer Chris Fuller and his K-9 partner, Teddy, have no choice but to let the fugitive they’re tracking get away. But when the escaped murderer returns to hunt tour pilot Lexie McDaniels again, Chris knows the attempted kidnapping wasn’t a chance encounter. Lexie won’t be safe until he catches the criminal…but are her secrets what is endangering them all?
Third book in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. Although enough background info was explained for me to understand the plot, I think it would’ve been better if I had read the other books in the series first.
Officer Chris Fuller and his tracking K-9 partner, Teddy, look for an escaped murderer in Montana. Things become dangerous when pilot Lexie McDaniels is taken hostage and becomes the means for the fugitive to escape. Lots of non-stop action. K-9 Teddy was pretty great, too. (I’m a sucker for a dog that’s a hero.)
Chris Fuller and his K-9 partner, Teddy are tracking a fugitive, but witnessing an attempted kidnapping, they let him escape in order to save tour pilot Lexie McDaniels. When the escaped murderer returns to hunt Lexie, it becomes obvious that the kidnapping was not just to get her plane and she is in need of protection. Chris realizes that protecting Lexie and catching the fugitive go hand in hand, but why is this killer after her? What secrets is she keeping?
Teddy is a tracking dog and is a spaniel. I didn't realize that so many different breeds were used in various K-9 jobs. I found it interesting to learn that they could also detect scents in the air, some several days old and still find whoever they are tracking. The story was not bogged down with the training or working skills, but they were incorporated in a very interesting way. Not only was this an action and adventure story, but there were personal demons that both Chris and Lexie had to overcome. The more time they spend together, the closer they become. The over reaching suspense arc is once again, slowly being worked out in the background. I enjoyed seeing Chris and Lexie deal with their own past issues and the tension they feel with one another gradually become accepted by both of them. This is another good addition to this series. This time, the audiobook is narrated by Jennifer Jill Araya and is an enjoyable way to experience this story.
Hiding in Montana was better than the two previous books in this series! I liked how this was about the half brother to the MC from book two. I still found some aspects unbelievable and that did make me not love the story. All in all, a nice read and I liked it. :)
Classic 'she's keeping secrets (for a good reason), he's been hurt by women keeping secrets in the past' trope. I was on edge right through the read (er, listen) waiting for the big reveal. Ouch. It went as I expected and fallout ensued. Lots of emotional wrangling in this third Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit continuity series and I gobbled it up!
Of course, I love the K-9 angle and this time it's spaniel Teddy (totally cute name for police dog! lol) and his sensitive snout that takes the limelight. Love the little training details the authors include in these novels! Scott does an excellent job of relating what it's like to work with a tracking dog without bogging down the action.
So, if you're new to the continuity series concept it's basically a multi-authored series where there's one over arcing suspense thread slowly being worked out in the background to the unique suspense plot for each novel. Plus there's a new romance every month! All of which makes me so happy. (Each book can be read as a standalone though, so you can jump in any time.)
And I absolutely love that this series is being offered in audible format as well. I really enjoyed Jennifer Jill Araya's portrayal of these characters.
I absolutely love this series! This is Ben’s story, and it’s a beautiful story of making peace with your past so you can move into the future. I love books centered around service animals. This series deals with K9 dogs, but I also like books dealing with military dogs, service dogs, search and rescue dogs etc. Each of these books can be read as stand alone books, but I really suggest you read them all in order, simply because the story line continues through each book. This book has a very lovable dog whose specialty is tracking. It’s amazing how he can stiff the air and take off, including scents that are several days old. Ben and his dog are tracking a fugitive that keeps evading him, he’s seems to be staying a few steps away from capture. While tracking his fugitive, he comes across him trying to kidnap a young woman named Lexi. Ben saves Lexi so their stories become intertwined as he tracks his fugitive who is so fixated on kidnapping Lexi again for reasons unknown. This book is a great read! Loved it.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Hiding in Montana. This is book three in the continuity series Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. This one is from Laura, one of my favorite authors so I was thrilled to get a copy of it. It's well-written, action-packed, and full of intrigue. It's an awesome book and I know you are going to love it.
Tour pilot Lexie McDaniels is checking the weather for her flight tomorrow when a man tries to abduct her. He wants her to fly him out of Montana. He suddenly drops her. She can see two men fighting and an animal growling. The man runs off leaving the stranger lying on the floor. The stranger turns out to be a K-9 Officer. Would he capture the man? Would he discover her secret? Is this convict a part of her past?
Rocky Mountain K-9 Officer Chris Fuller and his K-9 partner are tracking an escaped convict. He is glad he got there in time to keep the convict from fleeing or hurting Lexie. He and his partner search for the convict but lose him at a river. The next morning they return to the airfield. It's soon obvious that the convict is after Lexie. Why? Can he keep her safe?
A terrifying journey as a mad man is after them. God has a plan for these two, good plans of hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan for peace and not for destruction. Give Him your heart and watch Him work in your life even in this time of political chaos.
"Hiding in Montana" is a Christian romantic suspense. Lexie found proof that her father was a criminal and, when she confronted him about it, he warned her off reporting it and then she was attacked. She's now hiding from her family. Chris hates people who keep secrets, but someone's after her again, Chris' protecting her, and it's bound to come out.
Chris has a grudge against his father, whom he's never met but who wants a relationship with him. Chris would rather be angry and hurt at his mother's lies and his father's decisions than know the truth. Lexie was wise enough to realize that she might not want to marry a fellow who acted that way and so encouraged him to learn to forgive.
The main characters were likable and reacted realistically to events. The suspense was high as Lexie was repeatedly attacked (to kidnap her rather than kill her). While Chris and Lexie got along fine, it's another case of "I've known you about a week...let's get married because I suddenly want a family!" Again, why such rush something as important as marriage? There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this exciting suspense.
This story is full of action. Lexie is in the hangar of her air tourism business when she is grabbed by a guy wanting her to fly him.our of there. Then she is saved by K-9 officer Chris and his K-9 partner. But this guy keeps after her. Now Chris is doing all he can to find the guy and keep Lexie safe.
The pace is fast and the tone is hopeful with a character and action oriented storyline that has a few kisses but nothing else. The characters are vivid and endearing. This continues the story arch of the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. You really want to read these in order to fully understand the significance of a scene near the end. If you like your romance with action and heartfelt prayers, then you will appreciate this story. Read in order of at all possible. Enjoy!
I listened to the audiobook of this thinking that I was listening to the Lucinda Race book of the same title. So you can imagine my confusion once I got farther along. The storyline was interesting but there was a major lack of chemistry between the characters. The emphasis on the “stinky man” was a little redundant. It wasn’t written poorly, it was just a little crazy. I’m not sure why you’d propose to a woman you have known for less than a week and just went through a pretty traumatic, confusing case with. Also there was a lot of religion spoken of and there’s nothing wrong with that but it just isn’t my thing. I feel like I may unjustly be judging this book though since I went into it thinking it was a completely different book.

Laura Scott’s books are well-written, full of action.suspense, danger, and a little romance. This story does not disappoint! It kept me guessing almost to the end! I enjoy learning of all the skills the K-9 ‘s have and how they help their human partners.
There is a fugitive on the loose and Officer Chris Fuller and his K-9 partner, Teddy, are hot on his trail. Lexie McDaniel is a pilot in Montana, and a lady with secrets. The fugitive could get out of town by any means, but he specifically is after Lexie and determined that she will fly him. Why so personal? Has her past caught up with her?
Book 3 of the series is another fast-paced, suspenseful novel. Officer Chris Fuller and his K-9, Teddy, are on the trail of a fugitive when he hears a scream. He's just in time to rescue Lexi McDaniels from being kidnapped by the same fugitive that he is chasing. Is it just a coincidence that this particular fugitive is after this pilot? Could there be a connection? Chris hates duplicity and secrets, and he senses that Lexi has some secrets that she's keeping from him. Lexi wants to tell him her story, but she isn't very trusting of law enforcement and can't see any connection between her past and what's going on now.
Another suspense read from Laura Scott in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Series. This is # 3 that takes place in Montana. New Yorker, Alexis needed to escape family trouble. Her wealthy father was putting threats on her life. She knew the family secrets of the finance business. He felt she would turn him in so she changed her name legally, all her personal information and moved to a small town in Montana. Lexie bought a plane and started a touring business in the Rock Mountains. Her cabin was small and in a wooded area where she could remain private. This is another short but classic K-9 read. Enjoy!
Wow this was on the edge of your seat exciting. Where is the escaped convict, bank robber, murderer. Who is helping him to elude the RMK-9 unit. This story has attempted murder, kidnapping, murder, a dysfunctional family and a determined police officer with his k-9 partner. In the middle of the chase the hero do find love and learn a lesson about forgiveness.
Good story with a lot of action and a K -9 dog. Lexiy left her home in New York when she discovered her father was embezzling money from clients. She changed her name and was now living in Montana. Chris a police officer and his K-9 dog was in town searching for an escaped killer. This is a good story and I recommend it.
Wow! Talk about suspenseful. It was so great. I loved Ben, Lexie and the rest of the characters. Teddy, the dog, was so brave and hardworking. The bad guys were so bad I was truly relieved when they were caught. I love how the good characters loved the Lord and strove to keep Him first in everything and were not afraid to show their reliance on Him when in tight spots. A really great read.
This story kept me guessing until the end and is action packed and fast paced. It also involves the female main character keeping secrets (for good reasons) and the K-9 officer struggling with forgiveness after being lied to by others in his life. The ending was surprising.
This series even though written by different authors is very well done. The story lines all tie together. Laura Scott is an exceptional author. I have enjoyed reading all if her books. This story is well written and keeps your attention from start to finish.
Love this series! Each book is a stand alone read but with connections to other books. Each author pulls you right into the action and keeps you reading! Loved it!
Montana God's country! I was raised a few hours west of Great Falls. Thank you Laura for a wonderful story. It is just the perfect and balanced story that draws our eyes to God and also entertains.
So far I have really enjoyed this series. Every book has just enough suspense to keep you on your toes. The action and suspense mixed with forgiveness, hope and love makes a great story. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
Each story gets more and more interesting. I liked Lexie and Chris. Her being a pilot was fantastic. I was intrigued by her family dynamics. Most of all I loved the happy ending.
Great romantic suspense! So far, I have really enjoyed all the books in this series. Multiple authors, but the K-9 unit personnel is very continuous and every story has been terrific. I really enjoy seeing the characters appear in other stories. Read them all!
