Retired FBI agent Jeremy Winter spent his career chasing serial killers. Now, he finally has a chance to go after the one murderer who matters most - the killer of his wife and unborn daughter.
With few clues and nowhere to start, Jeremy tests the legal limits of his investigation, risking arrest and angering his FBI agent girlfriend Maggie Keeley. His determination to find the killer leads him on a twisting path of weak leads and strong doubts.

Great conclusion to the series with several lingering items resolved. This has been a good series with each book better than the last. In Winter's Fury, I especially loved the addition of Tanessa. She brought along some nice humor.
Omg! This final book was the best. I enjoyed every minute. I am really sad that it is over but it was written so well. Twists done perfect, if you're looking for a serial killer series, go for this
3.5 stars I really wanted to find out how retired FBI agent was going to solve the most important and most personal case of his career--Who was responsible for the deaths of his wife and unborn daughter. I was disappointed by the drastic changes the author made in Jeremy's personality after his early retirement from the bureau. At the "advanced" age oof 47, Jeremy has lost his keen senses and sharp mind and is now reduced to a playmate for his fiancée 's eight year old daughter. He has added twenty pounds, finds it hard to motivate himself to shower by mid-morning, and lives on strong coffee. Maggie, his fiancée and a FBI agent puts up with these changes much too patiently. She is now training a bright black female transfer from the Air Force who quickly becomes Maggie's sidekick. Jeremy is no match for the women in his life. There is more humor in this final of the series. Most of it at Jeremy 's expense. Another serial killer becomes the key to solving the cold case of the murder. With the murder resolved, Maggie and Jeremy finally get married at a local restaurant.

Jeremy Winter is a middle-aged FBI agent on the cusp of retirement. Each story has a beginning-middle-end murder mystery that comes to a satisfactory conclusion. No story is for the faint-of-heart, as Jeremy's FBI specialty has been serial killers. The Jeremy Winter Series, written by Tom Threadgill, is three novels to date, each in the area of 10 hours of listening in unabridged audiobook format. Coming of Winter, Dead of Winter, and Winter's Fury. Read them in sequence, or you'll miss continuity.
A thread through the novels is Jeremy's service as an FBI interrogator in Afganistan. He witnessed illegal behavior by his superior but has kept quiet. The superior is now married to a presidential candidate and fears a leak might damage political aspirations. There is also a thread of Jeramy's budding romance with another FBI agent in addition to the unsolved murder of his pregnant wife while he was deployed.
All were released in 2019 by Silverton Agency. Books one and two are narrated by Austin Walp, book three by Drew Bott. IMO, Austin is the better of the two, but that's just an opinion. My reaction when starting book three was, "What's wrong with this narration?" So ... there is that. Bott's voice for Jeramy didn't work for me, high pitched and whiney for a guy in his late 40s. There is no explicit sex, no objectionable language, albeit some of the murders are on the grizzly side—good mystery and suspense.
At the end of book three, the author's note tells us that there will be more Jeremy Winter stories.
This was a really good series. In this one, Jeremy works on finding his wife's killer. There is a totally different kind of serial killer in this book, and the author did a great job of bringing some things together I did not see coming.
As with the other two books, there is a lot of humor - banter between Maggie and Jeremy - and also more of the author's amusing descriptions. This one was not quite as intense as the first two, but just as good. Slight spoiler alert: a few things got resolved in this book, including the romance part :)
These books are not overtly Christian - in fact, I don't believe either Maggie or Jeremy were ever Christians - but the books are clean, and God and Christianity are discussed and have parts in the story.
I can honestly say, these are the best of this type of book that I have read. It would be awesome if the author did a couple more books in this series, but I am guessing it is done. They are well worth reading.
Winter’s Fury pits retired FBI agent Jeremy Winter, who is searching for the murderer of his wife and pre-born daughter, against psychopath and serial killer Shane Kingston, a man who makes himself the judge, jury and executioner for a violent pre-selected segment of society. Winter teams up with his girlfriend, FBI agent Maggie Keeley and her colleague to hunt down the perpetrator. The book has everything a great thriller should have. An exciting, twisty, action-packed plot that grabs you by the shoulders on the first page and won’t let go until the very end. And realistic, often humorous dialogue among strong and believable characters who waste no time in working through the complications they face. I’m so glad I read Winter’s Fury and highly recommend it to other fans of suspense thrillers and mysteries.
The best book in the series! 4.5 stars Threadgill hooks readers from the first page. There are two different storylines/perspectives. Jeremy Winter is trying to find who killed his wife and unborn baby so he can fully focus on starting a life with someone new. A serial killer creatively gets away with his own brand of justice. Readers know the storylines have to connect somehow, but it isn't immediately revealed. Threadgill weaves a tale full of twists and turns; the reader will be guessing until the end.
This is the third book in the series. I'd strongly recommend reading the other two before this one to familiarize yourselves with the characters, although the story can technically be read as a standalone.
I've read all three books published thus far. Loved all three. The writing is exceptionally well done considering so many authors these days slap sentences together with no thought to spelling or grammar, which I revere as our common language as a nation. Not only that, but the plot was tight. No yammering for page after boring page as some do. I tagged along with these characters like a fifth wheel, enjoying their company. There was enough tension, but enough down time to just relax and enjoy the ride. No expletives to explode in your brain, or bedroom scenes to turn your stomach or hurry past the pages. These books were pleasant reads with just enough harsh truths, sleuths, and mayhem to claim your attention till your coffee gets cold.
This is last in the series for Jeremy Winter and his fiance Maggie Keely. Jeremy is now retired from the FBI, but still has one last case to solve, his wife and unborn daughter's murders years earlier. Although I loved the characterization in this book, it wasn't a fast read for me. I even read a book in between while reading this. I felt that getting into this final story was a little too drawn out and many of the details images and descriptions were not needed. It wasn't a page turner like the previous two in the series. And the character of Tanessa was more annoying the entertaining in my opinion. I didn't expect the twist at the end, but it was a long time getting to that point. I'm a huge fan of Tom Threadgill. This just wasn't one of my favorites.
While the story itself is good. After 3 books I still find Jeremy and Maggie unlikable. She's stiff and boring. I know her getting her old sayings mixed up is supposed to make her endearing, instead it's annoying and makes her look dumb. He's too out of touch and seems a bit too much a mush. A former FBI serial killer hunter who's that out of touch and whiney to boot, I don't buy it. After three books it's time to say goodbye to the most boring couple in Bookdom. On a positive note, his killers are well developed and entertaining. I would read another of his books if they were about someone other than "Jer" and "Mags".
Throughout the series, we know Jeremy has desperately wanted to find the person who killed his wife and unborn daughter. Finally, after 17 years, he has the time to dedicate to finding the killer. Jeremy is willing to do whatever it takes to get his revenge, doesn’t matter if it’s legal or illegal.
What Jeremy doesn’t count on is finding a witness who is also committing crimes. Shane doesn’t consider what he does to be evil. He’s killing those who beat on women. He’s like a modern day Robin Hood dispensing justice on those who’ve gotten little to no consequence for what they’ve done. Shane sees a kindred spirit in Jeremy, one he believes will do whatever it takes to seek justice.
Enjoyed the book overall. Some questions remain at the conclusion but overall very suspenseful. No profanity of sexual content, which I really appreciate Author shows the perspectives of the investigator and the criminal mind. The criminal mind perspective is a little dark for me - I couldn't read the killing accounts but did enjoy Jeremy Winter and his sleuthing. He reminds me of Kolchak (original night stalker) or Columbo. His own agency backstory, military experience and the manipulation of politics seems very believable. Enjoyed ending
It’s been 17yrs since the murders of his wife and unborn child but retired FBI agent, Jeremy Winter has not given up on finding the killer. Now he has ample time to run his own investigation…with the occasional input from his girlfriend, and FBI agent, Maggie Keely. The investigation unknowingly leads them to a serial killer who had been flying under the radar. The identity of Mrs. Winter’s killer will blow you away!! Excellent book…with some crazy humor…Maggie can never get sayings correct! Looking forward to more.
Just when I thought the Jeremy Winter series couldn't get any better; it did.
I do have to admit, I felt the pace of this one was a little slower than the first two; not as much suspense, but the ending had my jaw on the floor.
I certainly hope we get more Jeremy Winters because I have definitely fallen in love with the characters, their personalities, and the trouble they always seem to find themselves in.
Again, I feel like you could read this as a stand alone if you didn't want to read the entire series. You wouldn't be lost, but you would definitely be missing out!
I’ve been enjoying Threadgill’s books. The characters are believable, the plots interesting, and they move along well.
Jeremy Winters has been plagued by the unsolved murder if his wife and unborn daughter while he was in Afghanistan years earlier. Recently retired from the FBI, Jeremy takes on solving his wife’s murder, and his current girlfriend/FBI agent, Maggie, does all she can to help. An additional & fun character in this book is Tanessa, Maggie’s trainee.
T. Threadgill scores a 10 with this third book in his Jermey Winter series. Books 1 and 2 were good but this one was terrific. I especially liked the way he has the characters interacting with on another. Their light banter reminded me of my family. The twists and turns of the story leads you to a false conclusion right up to the end when the truth comes from someone you should have suspected all along. Read it, you will enjoy it.
Tom Threadgill's 'Winter's Fury' was a tension-filled read. Its pulsating page-turning plot was filled with intrigue, suspense, and devotion. I loved the author's writing style: engaging characters, acerbic dialogue, and a compelling storyline. Comic relief came from an FBI trainee named Tanessa who had sass and spunk. Kudos to the author for including her in the novel. Finally, I did not expect a slight twist just before the end! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the masterfully written narrative.
I like this series and it was good to bring a part of this story to a close.
Tom's style.of writing is one I appreciate. You meet the killer at the beginning and have 2 story lines going on. Not an easy way to write a story
That the serial.killer is killing men who are abusive is creative. The connection to Winter is believeable and includes a unique twist. Did not see that coming.
The Jeremy Winter saga continues in this fantastic serial killer book. Winter finally takes steps in his retirement to find the killer of his wife and unborn child. Twists and turns that leave you wanting more and more, chapter after chapter. This book (and entire series) has such great character development and I’m honestly sad the series ends. Maybe we’ll get some more adventures with Jer, Maggie, Beks, Grayson and Tanessa in the future (Tom Threadgill: wink wink nudge nudge).
Jeremy Winter might be clueless at times when it comes to his fiancee but he knows how to psychologically work a case. Even being retired does not stop him wanting to find out who killed his wife. All this neatly works alongside a serial killer who targets abusive husbands. A nice twist towards the end makes a good thriller, better.
This short series is amazing, but annoying. Too short to just end like this! I need more. Maggie's quick responses and ability to put Jeremy in his place gives that a oops laugh out loud moment. We need more of Tenessa also and Janice. What is Beks going to do now? A great edge of your seat series for sure.
I am so glad I discovered Mr. Threadgill's writing! I read this trilogy in three days. These novels are well written and Iook forward to reading his other groups of series. In fact, I am going to peruse his collection right now. Thank you for writing such enthralling novels.
I just finished the third book in this Jeremy Winter series. These books are very well written. The depth of characters and plots will keep you turning the pages, and keep you reading all night. I recommend these books to everyone that enjoys suspense/mystery books !
I stumbles upon the Winter series a few days ago and have spent too much time feverishly reading them when I should be doing other things but I couldn’t put them down. Great characters in an awesome series. I hope we see more of Jeremy and his new family. Thank you for the entertainment! Gina Grant
This is the third book in the Jeremy Winter series. These books are great! The characters are real and authentic. I read a lot of mystery/suspense, and I have to say the plots are nothing like any I’ve read before. They’re imaginative, full of suspense, with twists and turns you’ll never see coming. Hoping for more Jeremy Winter!
Great reading! Total excitement without bad language. It has romance and mysteries. I hate I'm at the end of the series for the time being! Glad the author has other books!
This series had been a delight from start to finish-- that is except for the very beginning of the first. It was very gruesome. There is humor and tears included in each. I look forward to reading more by this author.
