Only 400 pages, I thought, exactly what I'm looking for as an introduction!

But no, they're big pages. Huge. Coffee table-sized. It was like reading a broadsheet newspaper, but a heavy one. Actually (re-)injured my rotator cuff reading it. And it has about, what? 550 words per page? So it's about a 900 page regular sized book. Too detailed for an introduction of my active liking. I will remember probably only 3,5% of it.

One thing I will remember though is how obnoxious (on the issue of 'dalits') and what a creep (with women) Gandhi was, besides also being an inspirational hero I mean. Very much a complex figure, but definitely not the (semi-)saint he is sometimes seen to be.

But, yeah, comprehensive. It will probably do the job you want it to do, it's just that it might interfere with other jobs you simply won't get around to anymore.
